  • hey, that's pretty good.

  • Here's a good video review.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBdKFLKZmkY

  • If only this worked with the Philips hue bridge

    • +1

You can use homebridge to control thru Siri. I'm using my spare mac but I will eventually get a Raspberry PI.

Also, this supports Alexa and IFTTT

    $22.66 at Banggood
    http://www.banggood.com/Original-Xiaomi-Mi-Yeelight-9W-RGB-E…

might be a tad more reliable too in delivering.

  • So is that the equivalent to a 40W globe?

    • -1

yeah they're more for lamps, then anything.

      • +1

Not true at all. I own these and are perfectly fine as a main bedroom light.

        • yeah, they are pretty good!

        • +1

Maybe if you've got no ambient light but there's no way I could light my bedroom with a 40w globe in the ceiling.

The current generation of LIFX globes are about 75w. Hence the price difference.

  • Do these connect to wifi as is, or do you need some sort of controller?

    • +2

They connect to your existing wireless network. You can configure all of the bulbs settings including network using an app.

  • +8

Can anyone who bought this please reply to this deal post 11 years from now to confirm the claimed lifespan of this bulb.

    • +10

I've come back in my neural transporter just to let you know mine failed after 10 3/4 years, but the Xiaomi (which now incorporates Apple, Google, Samsung & IBM) sent a replacement to my printer 2 weeks before it expired.

      • +1

were you on mars? the light was designed for 11 years under earths atmosphere tho.

  • Are they dimmable via the app?

    • +1

      Yes

    • yeah :)

  • The app seems to ask for way too many permissions. Does the mi app have to be used? Or is there an alternate app for these? Thanks in advance

    • use the "yeelight" app

      • Thanks.
Has the same issue though, too many permissions

      • +1

That app is the biggest battery hog of all apps on my phone. I could't work out how my pixel went from lasting a full day to needing a charge by 3pm until I checked the battery settings and it was 18% usage from the app alone.

Now I use it to turn the light off in the morning and then force-stop it.

    price:AU$18.84/US$13.99
    coupon:GB3RDwykop7

    • Thanks, I've updated the listing.

I purchased 2 bulbs earlier for the original price, the order is already listed as "Packed", am I able to get the difference of the coupon code refunded or in store credit?

      • +1

coupon only works for 1 bulb!

        edit
by the time i wrote this and went to checkout, the coupon now bumps up the price to $30.11

lol never heard of coupons increasing the price before.

        • Yes, seeing the same thing…. Though with the coupon PayPal is enabled, remove the coupon and PayPay vanishes!

Edit: For quantity of 2 and paying by PayPal with coupon applied is AU$48.96 or without coupon is AU$45.47

        • @oz-stef:

Sorry, the code limited to one stock per account.

        • @gearbest: oh never mind. i can see the issue. its sitting in my "waiting for payment".

        • @gearbest:

Can I add a second one for AU$22.74?

So that would be AU$41.58 for both? (22.74+18.84)

At the moment it costs more to use the code to buy more without the code ¯_(ツ)_/¯

        • +1

@oz-stef: mine was $18.85. all those 1 cents are gonna add up $_$

          @gearbest thanks for the coupon!

    • Looks like it has now expired?

  • Got mine today from the last deal. They work well. One word of warning - don't install the software you get by scanning the QR code in the booklet, download the Yeelight app from the play Store, then it'll do groups, etc.

  • Anyone has experience of not receive the package from Gearbest? I was told they won't help you if you don't purchase insurance.

  • +1

Are these only in screw type? Don't see bayonet anywhere.

    • screw type

      • Oh well, i bought one anyway. Will have to try a convertor..

  • Thanks op, bought one - hope it's good. I don't want to make another purchase until 2028.

  • Do these work well with iOS ?

  • Coupons reached its limit? Was about to buy one..

    • @gearbest seems the coupon has reached its limit?

  • Are you going to get this deal going again? Would liked to have bought some.

  • Mine arrived earlier today, they're actually pretty brilliant now they're all setup. I'm very happy indeed.

  • Still not yet delivered :( When should I raise a case with PayPal you reckon?

    • +1

Yeah I am still waiting too forgot all about it until i saw it relisted in a more recent deal.

and nothing…. will likely turn up .. my record so far is 8 months for a package that I did forget about and in that time I got rid of the device that I needed the gadget for.

        • @akoli:

I received mine today, 65 days after ordering.

I'm happy I received it sure, I'm not overly impressed on the amount of time it took, I'd opened a case with Gearbest just after 50 days which is their policy, in that request they then stated it was 60 days, only by luck that it has been a busy week did I not reply earlier this week, I've no idea if they resent the item when I opened my support request or it did just takes 65 days /shrug

I think for a couple of bucks extra you can choose high priority shipping, highly recommend that if you must purchase from Gearbest

tl;dr: Only ever use PayPal with Gearbest for your buyer protection insurance
