Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge $625.59 / S7 $550.39 - Dick Smith / Kogan eBay

1250
CYBER

Best price for the 32GB S7 Edge I've seen so far, and one of the cheapest for the S7.

Yes, they are 'grey imports', but at least Dick Smith / Kogan are a bit easier to deal with (imo) than some of the international sellers from HK.

No. You have to paint it yourself.

  • can GST still be claimed on these?

    • +1

      No

    • The GST that you won't have paid you mean?

  • nvm.. answered above

  • bugger! I can't use AMEX to pay for the phone. If I do, I don't get to use the voucher. My AMEX Explorer card gives free Smartphone Screen insurance but only if I pay for the phone with the card directly. Can't use PayPal. Anyone know a way around this?

  • Anyone knows how video taking for S7 compared with Galaxy Note 3? Apart from limited space for S7.

    • S7 takes in SD card (it's the S6 that doesnt).

I remember that my dad's Note 3 having worse camera than my S6. So I'd assume S7 would have better videos as well?

    • The camera won't disappoint you. That I can guarantee. - ex-S7e user.

  • Is anyone getting this for VR? I’m looking for the best value VR setup, and wondering if getting an s7 + gear VR is the way to go.

    • +1

Had both. It was fun the first time I tried it. After a while, the novelty wore off. Nothing would drain your phone's battery faster than the VR headset. Also, the device will get uncomfortably warm during use. The more you know.

  • Ended up going through the vaya deal, at least that states to be the exynos chipset, not sure what you are getting with this deal :/

    • You might as well get the dual sim version and pay an extra $11.20
      Listing states "Exynos 8890 Octa"

Second SIM slot is 2G and being is being phased out in Australia, but for an extra $11.20 it may be worth it when you travel overseas to a country with 2G

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-Dual-SIM-32GB-B…

  • The dual sim s7 on kogan website is the SM-G930FD model.
    That one has B28.
So the one shipped will most likely be SM-G930FD.

  • Does anyone actually know which version the non edge s7 is? The listing states both snapdragon and exynos … I bought the black 32gb s7 assuming it would be exynos but now I'm worried It may be the snapdragon model.

  • Is this phone running australian firmware. The reason i ask is because i read Samsung pay only works with country specific firmware

  • Also why are people wanting the exynos over the sd. In my opinion sd is better as you can play some tegra games which exynos can't

    • Australian version uses Exynos? Exynos is apparently more power efficient than Snapdragon? Exynos has better CPU?

I kinda guess it's probably because of Australian version being Exynos. While Exynos doesn't automatically make the phone the Australian version (the international model and few other models use Exynos), Snapdragon version automatically makes it a non-Australian model.

  • Is it Locked?

  • So tempting for such a good price but have to resist with the S8 coming out so soon!

    • My dilemma also =( Planning to upgrade from an S5, which has served me faithfully for a good 3 years so far.

  • my phone is arrived in Melbourne on Sunday. Waiting to deliver to my address.
Quite fast delivery by DHL for free.

    • That is fast, can you advise which processor it is once you get hold of it ?… I've been holding off hoping they would reply to my message asking for that info (although unlikely).. thanks.

      • You make me reliaze that I commented in the wrong deals. My phone from vaya deal, not dicksmith. Anyway, phone model will be exactly the same

  • +1

Looks like the S8 Plus will be priced somewhere around $1,299 according to the early leak of the European price.

    This deal is looking better.

  • Ordered one on the 18th, does Dick Smith (Kogan) usually deliver within 6-7 days?

    • My order hasn't been marked as shipped yet. You?

  • Not shipped yet, no reply.

I ordered a genuine sview case same day, it arrived today.

I also had a po box address on ebay, it didn't stop my order and I read tonight they don't do po boxes…. Hmmm.

Not touching them again. Normally a first shop at a shop is usually a great experience…

  • Just in time as my Nexus 6P went into boot-loop but luckily was under warranty. So, this would be my first Samsung! Any recommendations on a screen protector and a case? The curved (even for non-edge model) glass makes it challenging.

    • +1

I wouldn't bother with a screen protector - the glass is scratch resistant enough and the curved edges make any protector look stupid. For a case, any of the spigen ones are really good. Check their eBay store.

      • Thanks, I have used Spigen before and loved their cases. Cheers.

  • I sent them a message on the 17th of March regarding what chipset the s7 will come with. This was the response I received back today on the 21st of March.

    "Hi,

    Thank you for your enquiry.

There are two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7: a US version with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and the International version with the Exynos 8890 octa-core processor.

As we source our products from all over the globe to secure the best possible prices for our customers, we are unable to guarantee the exact chipset that you will receive with the Samsung Galaxy S7.

However, we can assure you that you will receive either the Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 or the Exynos 8890 Octa chipset.

In terms of the performance between the two chipsets, it is hard to determine whether one is better than the other as each will excel in different areas.

If you have any further questions, please get back to me and I will assist you the best I can.

    Kindest regards,
    Hayden

    • SD chipset is good but very power demanding. I have therefore opted for the dual sim version which says exynos only. Dual sim might be useful for overseas travel. I also found a thread in Whirlpool forums where someone managed to get 3G working on the second sim.

      • Apparently 3G works on the second sim, haven't explored it yet, but many commenting it's working.

    • Spend the extra $11 or so and get a dual SIM, that's guaranteed Exynos.

    • With notification about coming delivery they sent user manual pdf for Exynos model. That doesn't mean much, but means something.

  • Has anyone received their S7 edge and is able to comment whether there is band 28 or the chip (model number cross check on internet would tell)

    • According to Australia Post Tracking, Mine reached VIC today and is due for delivery by Monday. I'm thinking we should all be getting them very soon.

  • +1

Bought one. Very excited, as a student my 5c has been spluttering on its last life. This was about the maximum of my budget so I skipped on waiting to see the new releases. Am looking forward to finally moving away from apple.

  • Does this have band 40 (2300)? I need this band for use in Canberra.

  • Received my s7 today. Everything was sealed and brand new. Happy that it is the exynos variant! Loving the phone. Nice upgrade from my OPPO f1.

    • Hey, curious as to whether you purchased the dual sim or single sim? I bought the single and I'm kinda scared that it could be the snapdragon.

      • I bought the single sim. If you read my post abit further up the sales rep I got a response from said they can't guarantee which variant we will get… However a friend of mine with the single sim also got a exynos.

        • Thanks, seems a little sketchy but I guess I'll hope for the best.

  • There seems some debate over Screen protectors for the S7 Edge, just not being practicable for this phone. Then there is the dilemma of a Case. The Spigen Tough Armour seems good and they also sell the, albeit expensive, Tempered glass protectors. UAG also do a good case. Most of the generic, quality promised cases are CR@P so not even worth bothering. Thoughts appreciated.

Received my S7 Edge single SIM version from Kogan and it is indeed the SM-G935F manufactured in Vietnam, with additional bulky Universal Power adaptor attachment for the international power supply & 700Mhz

  • +2

Also got mine today. Sealed Samsung s7edge single sim G935F. Made in Viet, large au adapter and a free kogan sim card.

  • Received mine yesterday, it's been an absolute joy to use and I'm asking myself why didn't I switch to android earlier. No problems at all.

  • I received my G930FD dual sim, exynos version on Monday. It is one of the greatest phone I have had so far. Upgraded to OTA Android 7.0 and now I have 3G/2G activated on the second sim. Very happy!
