    1GB RAM

    Ahahahhahahahahhaahhahahahahhahaha

I agree, what could possibility run well with 1GB RAM on Marshmallow?
and what a horrible resolution as well.

this is a kids toy……. and a bad one.

      • I have a similar one that runs Freeview just fine.
It makes for a bloody cheap "TV" IMO.

  • +3

These make a good appliance tablet. car PC, video player, bathroom 'tv', etc.

    • +8

Not recommended to store in the car, as you will quickly find lithium batteries don't agree with the Australian summer heat.

      • If you try to use it in your car while you drive, you may find yourself in hospital the next moment due to it's lagging…

      • Fair point. I wonder how ipads handle it. (because they do)

  • +2

remember when you could get these for $29.50 each 2 years ago from HN?

    but only win 8

this isn't a good deal for the specs.

    • ok, I just realised the $29.50 was for the windows 8 intel atom processor tablet whilst this post is for android mediatek (most likely) processor.

this is actually a terrible deal.

Opened up the Unusurf 7" WIN8.1 unit, replaced back & screen cracked - not well made😠 Got refund from HN.

I've got one of those in 8" from those deals… Somewhere, almost unused😯

      1GB on WIN8.1 was no fun😢
1GB on Android is just doable.

      • It's like that $100 dollar bullshit HN are selling today that is a rebranded PendoPad. It's like they (profanity) up, then change their brand name to Protab then something else after that.

Owned a windows 8.1 PendoPad tablet and a tablet with keyboard and both (profanity) up had to get refunds.

  • 7 inch tablets are a dying breed. Don't think I see anyone carrying a 7 inch tab any more. Anyone remember the days of Optus Mytabs and Ainol tablets?

Especially not when 5.5 inch phones are the norm nowadays

a few months ago I picked up an asus 7" intel tablet at a garage sale for $2 . it wasn't working. I removed the back and the battery had become unplugged. just reconnected it and gaffer taped it into place. charged it and BAM!! totally working. very nice little tablet.

      • +7

I found a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 at a garage sale and charged it and BAM!

          Better than Boom….

found a car at a garage sale. put in some petrol and VROOM!

@dabell: found a BFG at a garage sale. added some ammo and DOOM!

I always found that Ainol tablets were a pain to use.

      I'll see myself out

      • Whatever happened to them? My girlfriend used to love ainol.

    • Tablets are a dying breed.
I was quite surprised with the recent Samsung Galaxy Tablet S3 reveal, there was little to no innovation or marketing hype.

5.7" phones, cheap tablets and ipads seem to be what is left.

If you want a premium tablet and a reasonable price, I'm waiting to get the Huawei M3 under $400 locally.

      • They lost moneys on battery recall, also compensation… bandage mode yet to finish

        • Loosing a little money isn't stopping the S8 which will soon be formally announced.
They sell a lot of phones, fewer tablets. Seems odd, but is what it is…

@noone025: If you include the reputation they built up over the years, the money spend on promotion and marketing, that's not an easy forgotten things such as Washing machine and Smart Phone which I owned both and I keep telling myself never again.

I kinda miss 7" tablet to be honest, I found this is the perfect fit (for my medium size palm) to read ebook for commuting

    • This year there will be more 6 inch plus phones too.

Different CPU i bet. If this is the Allwinner CPU it's actually a $4 CPU. And a very crap one at benchmarks and performance at that. Lowest of the low actually.

Confirmed: 270 odd on Geekbench for single core. I know benchmarks aren't everything but for comparison Snapdragon 400 runs at 450 odd. Now if that was slow on a tablet or phone just think how slow this one is.

I have a Lenovo tab 2 running mediatek processor and even that runs better than this tablet. And it lags like hell the Lenovo.

  • +4

Don't waste your money. I have one similar to this that I got from target clearance for AUD50 and it is crap - too slow, very poor screen and poor built quality

  • frankly, I would never buy a 1GB ram Android Tablet because it's way too laggish.

    • +1

      Too lagish at what?

If you want to run the Chrome web browser, it will soon run out of memory and get slow.
But for playing games or watching videos, 1GB is probably fine, even on Marshmallow.

Other unisurf/pendo models have had awful displays. This one says IPS, so perhaps is better?
Then again TN can be good, so maybe they are able to make IPS bad?

Reliability is an issue, but at least it is easy to return with ALDI/target etc.

You can get better specs and value from a phone, if a 4.5" screen is acceptable.

  • My first and last Aldi tablet came with malware. Kept installing DU Battery and few other apps whenever it got online. Googled it and found other people had the same. Had to root and removed them but it kept coming back as its in the ROM. Kingsoft rooted and blocked them in the end. Got a cheap Samsung instead and its much more responsive. Aldi one is collecting dust as whenever I run out of power, it needs to optimize all the apps again with every reboot.

  • +2

Don't even waste your Money on this Junk.

Couldn't even handle a session of Web browsing, non-responsive at all times too.

    Stay clear!

All these comments about the 1GB of RAM, and they're all right by the way, but I'm just sitting here remembering when I upgraded from my phone with 300 odd mb of RAM to one with a gig and holy shit it felt lightning quick in the day. Time flies in tech.
