I.e. To reach the gold status, you need to spend 30 nights or have 10,000 points. But with this promo code, you instantly becomes gold status, but with zero point balance?

This is awesome, my mums got a gold card (that she had to pay for), used it twice in the last 2 weeks, at novitel, and ate dinner 2 for 1 prices.

She has an advantage plus card which is very different.
If she got dinner 2 for 1 then she was dining with 1 other person as advantage plus allows the cardholder to eat for free (If there were 2 people the discount would have been 33%)
If she eats alone the discount is 25%

tevtin, it might be a different card that your mum has to this. Accor has a whole multitude of reward cards with different things. My mum has some card too with them that she paid for this gives various discounts but it isn't a loyalty hotel stay card.

yep just did it. Instant, dont have to wait for accor to do it manually.
but it is 0 points, you dont get 10,000 instantly, which is a shame.

Tried the code, got the Gold membership without any problems.
Tried to merge my previous account (with points and stays) with the new "Gold" one, and got this answer from A-Club:
"Following your e-mail dated May 28th 2010 regarding the merge between your A|Club Classic n° xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and the A|Club Gold card you created recently n° xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
We will not be able to answer favorably to your request as you benefited from a promotion to have the Gold card whereas you were already an A|Club member. Therefore, we have cancelled your A|Club Gold membership."

there is an option for a promo code when you sign up. use the code posted above there

EDIT - Got it working. Refreshed the page so that the promotional code section wasn't showing unless I ticked the box then it worked perfectly showing my Gold status once completing sign up.

WESIA09PLA will get you platinum - much better, the Gold code shown is for Deutsche Bahn bahn.comfort so Australian addresses will get flagged as you need to show your Bahncard on checkin.

Thank you, went for Platinum. However, when i try to book a hotel to see how much the rate is, it's not allowed me to, keep getting error msg "Your identification is not valid ; please check and re-enter your details". Anyone has the same problem?
had the same problem for the gold one as well.
once you log in it says that it takes up to 24hrs for the reservations system to recognise your id number. Hope this helps.

From the text on the site it would appear there is an annual eligibility test.
So in one year's time, if you have not met the requirements to stay at the level you joined at, you will most likely revert to a basic or silver membership (and keep your points).
A good way to get better benefits for at least a year, though I'm sure you'll receive plenty of mail.

Sorry for late reply. I actually did neither as I wouldn't be able to take advantage of this deal (just came back from a big holiday so no travelling for awhile).
Can you use the a-club to earn points in conjunction with Accor Advantage Plus? e.g, book through Advantage Plus website (lower room rate for member) then get points for a-club? I've booked a room last month with Novotel for Oct'10 stay, wonder i can call the hotel and tell them my new plantinum a-club number, so that after the stay, i can have the membership card ship to me.
Yes, you can use the cards together powergirl. They are two separate schemes, but if you simply present both cards to reception at check-in (or just give them your a-club number), any money you spend at accor during the stay credits you with a-club points. Mind you, they often get it wrong or points don't get added on! The advantage plus gives lots of benefits (eg discounts off food etc)

Got generic.error.technical when trying to check rate and availability.
Not all hotels honour A club (all Sofitels in QLD = no) and the points take forever.
