  • Not bad why is the PS4 always dearer to buy then the XBOX? Always seems betters deals for the XBOX than the PS4

    • Sony has the market share so I'd assume MS is looking to compete on price. I'm not a retailer so I can't say, but perhaps the cost price offered to stores is lower so they can in turn offer better deals.

Probably because people are happy to pay the higher price, given the brand's long history of gaming compared to Microsoft's.

      • Huh? Microsoft released their first game at least 5 years before the Sony PlayStation existed!

        • Well, you're not wrong there.

I was actually referring to Microsoft as a gaming brand with the Xbox line of consoles, where the Xbox's (Original) debut in 2002 was released later than Sony's Playstation (PS1) of 1995, giving the latter the legwork over Microsoft in terms of branding longevity.

          @silverrat23:
Fair enough, and I was being somewhat facetious in my response (and you were gentlemanly enough not to respond with "Solitaire & Reversi don't count".

Thinking about it however there is perhaps some merit in the face that Microsoft had a similar leadtime. The Xbox was a Windows NT 4.0 box with a Pentium III 733 MHz processor (if I recall) which built upon the many generations of DirectX that had been released since its introduction in 1995.

In other words, whilst they didn't have a console on the market, the first console they did bring to market already had a gaming pedigree near enough to that of the PS.

Whilst that might be true about the technology itself (or possibly just some bollocks I'm making up on the spot), it certainly is true that Sony has greater brand longevity associated with console gaming. If you asked someone in 2003 which company had the greatest association with gaming, I'm sure they would have said Sony PS rather than Microsoft.

And for the record, so far as I can tell, the first commercial game released by Microsoft was in 1985. It was Reversi, included with Windows 1.0.

I actually have my grandfather's boxed copy of Windows 1.0 (on 5.25" floppy disks) sitting on my shelf. A museum piece!

      • That and they have the exclusives this gen that people seem interested in. MS seems to have the same Halo + Gears + Forza trio happening plus a few misfired like Recore etc. Halo and Gears in particular seem to have lost a fair chunk of their appeal of late.

  • Sony should do a PS4 pro 500gb + Horizon zero dawn for $350, as of now Microsoft has very tempting Xbox bundles.

    • +1

that's why Xbox users are hard to sell their used console. PS4 is doing a good job at the moment.

    • Wake up mate.

slim got overheat problem. Pro is better

    • Pro is better
So it should be for 50%+ more

      • pro is amazingly cool.

    • Is this true? I'm thinking of getting one myself.

      • I am using Pro and it's cooler than CUH-1200, CUH-2000. If you have a good air condition in your room, slim is fine.

  • How long is the deal for ?

    • Ends 26th of March, as stated in the email.
