I love these phones but you could just buy an S7 Edge for this price

True. Samsung do make better bombs.

And everyone with a Note 4 was easily able to exchange or refund the phone, would not happen with Xiaomi, not even officially sold in Australia!

        • +3

Well the toss up is specs over support.

        • Not if you bought grey import. Same with this phone.

        • Note 4? What was wrong with it?

        • +1

          You mean the Note 7?

        • Lol note 4 ,

      • -2

        That's the note not s7

I rather the Sammy instead of this crap

$684 buys you 3X Lenovo Zuk Z2s. Where is a value argument here?

    • +3

Band 28 and no gold, that's enough nowdays on ozb

      • No gold ftw

      • Band 28 is so over-rated. Had Telechoice and never had non-4G reception.

        • +2

          And you live in cbd?

        • In Melbourne

        • +1

@ruskiromka: then try go out. in sydney some area 15kms from cbd, and telechoice got no 4G signal

        • Wow! Talk about thinking that your case applies to everyone. Lot of people living in suburbia or non-capital cities.

    • You only need one good phone.

    alibonus cashback - between 7 - 10%.

  • Nice device.. Was close to getting this but went with the Mi Mix.

    • Which seller did you get the Mi Mix from?
I'm after it but have been burnt heaps of times on ali…
      Cheers

I bought a Xiaomi phone because it was 2 or 3 times cheaper than a Samsung. I will get a Samsung for a Samsung price.

    Not dual camera? Meh….

  • +2

I'd rather get an s7 edge for the same price… Even local stock isn't that much more expensive if you buy on specials.

  • I'd take a S7 Edge or Mate 9 for this price thanks. Xiaomi doesn't make the best quality phones.

  • No SD Card slot?

    • +1

Nope. Its really strange because the lower tier phones in the Redmi series have MicroSD slots, but the higher end phones in the Mi/MiNote/MiMix do not…

  • As per most of the Xiaomi posts nowadays I would say they are fantastic phones when working (B28/full featured), but if you are debating between a similarly priced and spec'd phone bought locally choose the damn local phone. Having a straight-forward warranty is easily worth $50-100.

Currently dealing with online support for my Note 3 pro and my god it drives you mad how moronic the people working there are. I know they aren't technical staff but you just about want to throw a keyboard whenever you speak with them.

Also, you will have a much harder time finding parts for Xiaomi phones for whatever reason, particularly the custom curved screen version like this one.

    Caveat emptor

    • What issues are you dealing with for your note 3?

      • Non-charging/red-light/OTG issue.

Its not particularly rare, essentially the phone get confused into thinking the USB port is using an OTG cable for whatever reason and refuses to charge, there is very few options to fix this other than getting into Engineering mode (apparently not possible for the Kate edition somehow) - note engineering mode is not dev mode or download mode - it specifically offers debug testing that is above and beyond the others, or cracking the case open and shorting the USB port.

I just repaired my old phone (replaced digitiser and mid-frame) and am seeing if Xiaomi will stop being (profanity) and help me since its well within warranty, or deciding whether I attempt to short the port…
