Jetstar has launched their Easter Sale for 2017. Plenty of great fares starting from just $29 (Avalon <-> Hobart). There's far too many to list them all, but you can easily check by selecting 'departing' and entering your city of preference. Travel dates also vary quite a bit, but there's cheap fares right through to December. Safe travels :)

He posted a deal he doesn't need to work it all out for your lasy ass

      • *lazy

        • Error of judgement lel

  • How long do these normally take to sell out? Also are there other airlines likely to launch sales too soon?

    • It depends on the quality of the sale. Judging by the prices I'd say you should have a day or two without missing all the bargains.

There appear to be some resonable prices here, some examples that interested me:

Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Hong Kong Return (May)
    Flights total $369.91

Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Ho Chi Minh City Return (May/June)
    Flights total $287.04

Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Townsville Return (June)
    Flights total $198.00
    Same to Whitsunday Coast

Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Cairns Return (June)
    Flights total $218.00

    Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Queenstown (Aug/Sept)
    Flights total $216.54

Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Auckland Return (Nov)
    Flights total $187.93

  • Thanks TA. Just got some flights to sydney for a great price!

      but you're going to Sydney…

Great deal OP, thanks! I've flown with Jetstar twice and both times I've had a very positive experience - clean, new planes, and enough leg room for me. As long as you don't cancel/move your booking, and allow a few hours for delays just in case (lucky this has never happened to me), you should be golden. Also if its useful to anyone, I found flights to and from Singapore from Perth in late April/May for $109 from Scoot. If you can price match this with Jetstar it might be useful if you need a return leg, or slightly cheaper fare.

I will fly Jetstar domestically bit not internationally - heard nothing but negative reviews.

    • +6

I've flown Jetstar internationally maybe 14 or 15 times. Once the flight was cancelled but i was told a week out (which i thought was odd that they couldn't do anything about it in that time but at least a week's notice was good). And twice the flight was diverted but due to natural events at the destination. Other than that, I can't remember the flights being delayed or having any problems (touch wood). Problem with reviews is, people are quick to write a negative review but not a positive one unless they have an exceptional experience. I just want a hassle free experience which i typically get so never write a review. Maybe look at how many negative reviews there are vs how many people actually fly and then the complaint rate would surely be acceptable? Just my opinion.

I don't buy the whole "only negative comments get listed".
For starters, you can compare across airlines - so if only negative comments get left, you will see a trend across all airlines.
Also, I have flown Jetstar internationally and the aircrew were terrible, but, until now I never posted that comment (ie. just because it was bad didn't mean I posted it). The staff were rude, used far too much foul language for my liking, they spent all their time with a "small party group of passengers" who were getting very pissed and becoming more obnoxious as time progressed, etc. you could have cut the air with everyone except the"party group".

Disclaimer: I am friends with an International Jetstar pilot. Great guy. Mentioned to him about Yahoo Jetstar staff. He said "probably on a Bali flight, crew stopping over, in wind down mode"… so, they have a reputation (because it was a flight to Bali!)

        • I don't buy the whole "only negative comments get listed"

Well it's what i do, so i buy it. There are also quite a few studies correlating my assumption but this thread on Quora has some good comments with links https://www.quora.com/Is-there-negative-bias-in-online-revie…
The other thing might be that you fork out a few hundred dollars for something, so you expect to get this great service but in reality you are flying a budget airline. So yes you should get decent service but that will come with some pretty basic conditions.
I could be wrong here but i find that when people try to justify a strong opinion with a "but i have black friends" comment which in your case is "knowing a Jetstar employee who is a great guy", i raise an eyebrow…
At the end of the day, mine is all opinion based on my experience so just go with what what you want.
As an FYI, delays and cancellations are probably most important so this is a good site to look at to help with your decision https://bitre.gov.au/statistics/aviation/otp_month.aspx

Flew from Hawaii with them. No problems.

I've flown Jetstar internationally 7 times over the past 10 years. Never had any cancellations however most flights are generally and hour or 2 delayed. Service is basic but you get what you pay for.

    • I've flown with Jetstar 2 times. Both times flight got cancelled. Once also delayed. Worst airline. Makes African Airlines look like the gold standard.

flown with Jetstar 2 times. Both times flight got cancelled. Once also delayed

        struggling to compute

        • +3

haha this made me laugh out loud (got strange looks for co workers)

        • Read again. Both flights on separate occasions got cancelled -> had to rebook. THEN one of the alternate flight was further delayed by 2 hours.

          That's a 150% failure rate. Jetstar… what an airline.

They used to be pretty bad before they replaced most of their international fleet with Dreamliners. Since then they've been good for me.

    • I can't speak highly enough of jetstars 787 singapore service..have flown it maybe 6 or 7 times pricematched with scoot and never paid more than $160 one way. CS its great, brand new modem aircraft and seating that doesn't feel budget at all with the entertainment screen quality better than what you get on full service airlines.

  • Flown Jetstar many times domestically, also international Bali and Japan. Never had any issues, dreamliner is possibly the most comfortable plane for cattle class international. Probably prefer Virgin for overall experience but never had an issue with Jetstar.

They need another cheap japan sale

    • Friend i recommend airasia, you can find return from $700 a lot of the time, good stuff.

  • I think Qantas has taken that route now.

Jetstar still flies to Tokyo from Gold Coast and Cairns and Osaka from Melbourne and Cairns. I think it's only Melbourne to Tokyo that was switched.

      • You have to transit through Cairns on Melbourne-Osaka too.

  • Note that you have to add $90 for extra 20kg baggage both ways, unless you want to carry only 7kg.. so that's $180. If you want to choose your seats its $7 so that's $14 both ways and if you want food it's $20 for meals or you will starve. Essentially it's $234 added to the ticket price if you require those extras. Still cheap overall though.

  • I cant believe jetstar is the worst airline for cancellations now, its a tough job to beat those Tiger pricks.

Only thing i can put it down to is Jetstar has 10x the planes of tiger……

  • +1

Had Jetstar cancel my 10AM flight with four hours notice the other day. Best they could do was 4PM, so instead I have to wait two weeks for a refund.
Book well in advance with Qantas is my suggestion.

"Easter Sale" - with no flights over the Easter period and 2.5 weeks early….

Some really cheap flights in there though - Melbourne to Queenstown in first week of May = $276 return including luggage.

You havent traveled much, have you?

    • I see you've never heard of the world class airline that is Lion Air.

  • No deal to Nadi, Fiji :-(

  • +1

What? No $9 fares ??? Airlines getting stingy??? Comeon Tiger, sock it to Jetstar again!

    • +1

I am also suffering similar withdrawal symptoms.

Looks like it's club jetstar only for now?

    • It appears to me JS is trying desperately to get people sign up to Club, but if these are the kind of fares, I'd say why join ? Better to keep competition going between them and Tiger than be captive to these so-called sales!

  • Thanks OP, just booked SYD-AKL for $193 incl fees in July
Looks like the stupid booking fees have dropped from $16.50 to 0.48% too :)

  • Anyone in the know about any actual fares over Easter weekend on sale? Want to get the fam down from Brisbane to Melbourne but $250-$300 is the average each way per person at the moment even with the budget Jetstar/Tiger lines
Wondering if I should hold out hope of last minute sale fares or no chance over Easter..

    • Nah mate, Easter is less than a month away, fares only going up
Good luck flying at decent prices

  • +1

Looks like Tiger's Easter sale is on! Ops for price-beat for some folks?
