        Generally the more you spend, the more reliable the end result. If you want to just play, then go the XiaoMi or mysensor kit. Otherwise, look at stuff like Z-wave as it can be a little more robust. Not saying the other stuff is unreliable, just that Z-wave etc is likely to be more reliable. Personally I use a blend - the important stuff uses Z-wave, other things (weather/temp sensors etc) I use mysensors.
