Ummmmm, gonna check the 160 pods' BB…

  • Thanks, just picked one up! I currently use the Nespresso with Aeroccino but it sucks to have to clean the frother each time.

    • it will be even worse with this machine.

    • This is worse, IMO.

I have a Lattissima and whilst you only have to clean it every other day as you can keep it in the fridge, it is a PITA to clean as you have to dismantle it and clean all the individual bits.

I end up soaking it overnight in soapy water and then flushing it out the next morning.

You will have to do the same with this thing. But this is even harder to clean than the Saeco. The Saeco's parts leave dried milk gunk which is hard to clean due to the design of the rubbery parts. They stick to recesses. The Lat has no such issue. It doesn't use rubber for a start except on the straw.

  • Got this last time, it's relatively bulky, pain in the ass to clean as need to dismantle multiple parts, the filtering system is not great, always had a lot of coffee grains in the bottom of the cup. I'm guessing I got a dud, ended up returning it and got a nespresso.

    • I got grains as well, their staff told me its normal, ,,and since I put the extra strong pod which I got from coles, the grains are not as much as before, so getting used to it…

      • Anyway, I've still got 7 packs (each pack contains 10 pods) of the Med Strength espresso capsules from the last deal that MAP didn't want me to send back. If anyone wants them free of charge, provided you pay for the satchel, I'm happy to send them anywhere in oz through a 3kg prepaid satchel. Expiry date Aug 2017, PM me.

    • Got this last time and this is exactly my experience as well.

    • I don't think it was a dud. A lot of people (including me) complained about coffee grounds getting through.

  • I got this machine in last year's deal to complement my Breville BES820 semi-auto for when we wanted a quick coffee when in a rush.

Me and Mrs Tex have been really happy with it so far, can't remember seeing many coffee grains at all and the frother works well (not just bubble froth like some are prone to do). Not hard to clean - the top of the frother unit disassembles into a few pieces that just need a good wash in warm soapy water every few weeks. It has a rinse function for the frother that you use each time after dispensing milk that easily keeps it clean between bigger cleans. Would highly recommend at this price.

  • very tempting… if I remember correctly this same machine was on sale last year from saeco directly with similar number of pods for $150, so this is an awesome deal for those who missed out

  • I got one last time.. Tried various pods and they all tasted horrible.. Undrinkable..

Returned it and bought the same machine from Kogan and it's been fine.. Map say they tested my return unit and found no issues.. Bs, because I used so many different pods and they work fine on my kogan bought one

  • +1

I bought one of these last year. It is crap. It was the deal that came with 80 pods. Once I used up those 80 pods I packed it away.

Cleaning it was also annoying. The frother in particular. It had many small and easy to lose parts to disassemble (I needed to follow the manual every time I disassembled and reassembled it), and cleaning the milk gunk off the rubber/silicone was difficult once it dried up. The accute angle corners of the parts made it difficult to clean the corners, so over time, you'd have a build up of grime that isn't coming off. You need a fine toothbrush to get the corners, and even then it won't be 100% clean. If the parts used 90 degree angle corners, it would be easier to clean.

    The thing was huge too.

I replaced it with a Nespresso Latissima+ which I got from TGG end of last year for $269 minus $95 coffee credit, and never looked back. Worked out I paid $174 for it. Then I used the $95 credit towards the Morning Welcome Offer with 150 capsules and a free gift ($99). I also paid for TGG's Gold Concierge warranty extension for $38, which includes 9 store credits of $20 handed out periodically ($180 in value). The machine was practically free. I'll be using the credits on Miele filters and Brita filters which I would have purchased anyway.

This thing is much better designed. It uses right angles for one, so cleaning is easier. The milk carafe disassembles into bigger parts and fewer parts. It's easy to disassemble and reassemble.

There are one or two design quirks that I found questionable, but its engineering is miles ahead of Saeco's.

The Saeco left coffee grounds in my cup. The Nespresso does not. This alone is a deal breaker for the Saeco. And I know I wasn't the only one with this problem.
