Wish I wasn't "locked in" with my Lavazza Modo Mio machine. These capsules are way cheaper and this is a ripper deal.

    • Use a Lavazza myself and really like it. Wonder if these pods taste as good?

      • +2

Love the Lavazza too but between my wife and I it can get expensive as we are both rather fond of our coffee. I especially like the one-touch milk on this machine - my Modo Mio machine (which is also a Saeco) uses a steam wand which is great but does take more effort :-)

Wish there was a reusable alternative for the Modo Mio pods though - have seen a few for Nespresso system although not sure how well they actually work.

  • +2

What's the capsule situation on these? Where can they be bought, are there decent alternatives etc/

    • +2

      Woolworths judging by the photo

Caffitaly pods usually about 30c each when you get them on special, which is pretty common as there are 3/4 different brands that make them

    • +2

I'm pretty sure they sell the pods at Costco in bulk as well

    • +1

And officeworks.. But they belong to the caffitaly system. Can buy those types of pods anywhere. We like the Mr Barista "strong" ones from Coles.

    • +3

Woolworths has a whole range of capsules for this machine. Brands of capsules include:

      1)Woolworths Select
      2)Gloria Jean
      3)Grinders
      4)MAP
      5)Moccona

      And from coles:

      1) MAP
      2) Mr Barista

Plus other brands you can buy online from overseas.

Pretty good deal LOL Kogan selling the machine only for $499

    • Kogan selling for $179 now, all colours and free shipping.

      • +1

Looks like this model has a grossly overinflated RRP and/or they are running it out now. Good chance they will honour the orders. Im happy with $149 delivered with 80 pods.

    • $143.20 @ DS eBay with C20DS

      • This doesn't seem that good a deal now DS/Kogan are selling it for this price.

  • Mothers know best!!! 😷

Thanks hughesy (and your mum). Purchased to replace our Saeco Incanto machine we bought over a decade ago second hand which finally gave up the ghost.

  • Just bought one, thanks..

  • Shout out to your Mum. Awesome deal.

  • ++++ve for your mum.

  • just bought one for the old man :)

  • +1

Thanks replacing my aldi one :)

Have had a nespresso for years and tried many of the compatible pods. For my taste, I've never tasted another brand that tastes as good as the original nespresso pods. Would love a cheaper alternative. I'd appreciate opinions on the taste of the pods that work with this machine

  • Nice find… but "Normally $451" (as said on the page) has to be BS.

  • good deal - the pods alone would be worth around $30-40 and MAP actually tastes quite good.

  • Cheers, was just in the market for a machine too.

  • Pulled the trigger thaks OP and OP'S mum

  • THANKS

  • Are there any good eco friendly capsules out there? These pod system must surely be awful for landfill

    • Youtube… from memory there's some videos about refilling the pods yourself. Ebay had some metal pods, but were quite expensive.

    • +1

Washing and then refilling the pods and filters is easy, almost therapeutic. Fill with your fav grounds, replace the filters (the right way around). Recapping is with a small patch of alfoil folded over the edge of the pod.

  • Got one for the office. Thank you for sharing :)

  • Got one. Thanks!

  • +1

Full credit goes to my mum

I wish I could + you twice for that comment! :)

    • Are you his mum…?!

  • +1

My cheapo Woolies Caffitaly machine started leaking a while back and finally gave up a few weeks ago so perfect timing. Thanks!

  • Got one. just in case.
    Thanks

    • +3

      That's the OzBargain spirit!

    • That's what I do with torches, power banks, SD cards, and headphones. Welcome to OzB.

      • only one problem, i have almost full garage and there is not to much free space in it for just in case stuff

        • +5

          Sell the car.

  • Just bought one. Thank you!

  • Bought! Great Deal on machine and the coffee is good enough.
    Thanks op.

  • Finally getting rid of my leaking Aldi machine . Yaayyyy!!! I was actually using map pods in my Aldi machine it works . Map coffee tastes great .. Unfortunately Aldi coffee pods taste like soapy water ..

  • Bought one. Thanks OP's Mum!

  • Great deal, just bought one to replace the WW's Caffitaly one that is now leaking after many years of good service.

  • +2

after much consideration ive finally purchased a pod machine! any kind of pod machine is banned at my house because of the landfill the pods contribute but the price is too good to resist! hope the order goes through lol.

how to reuse the pods - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Bz3iGyPlho - lot of effort!

    • +2

Wow that is a lot of effort! Defeats the whole purpose of the quick and convenient coffee. May as well just make an actual coffee with a espresso machine

  • Thanks, bought one to replace the aeropress I've been using for the past 2 years

    • +1

      Aww… ♥ Aeropress.

      • I love the aeropress too, don't worry, it will be permanently stationed at work now. On a side note, it is scary to see how many coffees you drink in an average day by how long it is since you last ordered 700 filters.

what do u guys think about these capsules causing cancer ? https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/04/110413090012.h…

researchers in spain found capsule based coffe has higher levels of caricogens that normal fresh ground coffee

    does map coffee address this?

    • +9

Don't get me wrong, but just about everything causes cancer lately.

    • +5

      Extract from the above link:
In order for furan ingestion to exceed the maximum acceptable values, a person would have to drink at least 20 cups of capsule coffee or 30 espressos per day (for the brands with the highest furan content), or 200 instant coffees. These estimates were made on the basis of 40 ml cups and an average body weight for coffee drinkers of around 70 Kg.

If you drink 20 capsules a day Im sure you will need to worry about other things and not just cancer

  • Does it have an integrated automatic milk frother like Latissima? Is it easy to clean? Are you meant to store the excess milk in the fridge?

I probably should replace my OW Map machine which whenever I make a coffee with it, some of the grounds make it into my coffee.

    • Yes, yes, yes.

      • yes built in frother. THis price is amazing really, one time chance

      • Can you pour in just enough milk for one cup? I don't really want to store any milk. Not sure how deep the straw goes down to.

        • Can't see why not, but it would be a pain in the arse having to clean the carafe after each use as opposed to storing the carafe with unused milk in the fridge and cleaning it once a week as recommended.

        • @PinzVidz: I have an Aeroccino3 so I'm used to it. I might end up just using that instead.

    • I probably should replace my OW Map machine which whenever I make a coffee with it, some of the grounds make it into my coffee.

      so not this one? :)

      • That's the one I got yeah.. effectively free since it came with 140 pods.

The coffee grounds are in my coffee. I think it's always been that way. Not good.

        • always been that way? never thought about a warranty claim/replacement given that it seems faulty?

        • @tonester: The price I paid for it, probably not worth it. I just assumed it was bad build quality, and not actually defective.

  • OP, your mum might just have instant OzB fame!

  • +5

This is an amazing offer regardless, ur mom is awesome we all lover her.

Btw this machine also works with Gloria Jeans coffe capsules and woolies select capsules, so its a great buy.

    • Their website FAQ says otherwise. (https://mapcoffee.com.au/faq).
Can I use other brands of coffee capsules in Map coffee machines?
No this will void your warranty and damage Map coffee machines.

      • They all do that so u stick with their own capsule. Look up caffitaly system which this machine is part of basically any capsule based on caffitaly will work

      • No it doesn't. The fact that they write that is utter BS.
        Why?
Quite simply, CAFFITALY is both the owner of Capsule system, as well as the manufacturer of the capsules.
There are no such thing as "compatible" capsules. All brands of capsules are considered "original", since CAFFITALY does not allow any 3rd party to manufacture "compatible capsules".

All CAFFITALY capsules, regardless of brand (Woolworths, Gloria Jeans, or MAP), are all manufactured by the company "Caffitaly S.p.A.".

  • +2

Thanks OP. My first coffee machine

  • anyone know if u can select color? or is this exclusively for black color

    • Deal for black only.

      • Thnx got one already but wanted to check.

        • +1

          Glad you weren't buying a car ;)

  • +16

I never drink coffee so I don't know why I just bought this..

    • +6

      That's the spirit.

  • Ozbargain's Mom of the month… Ordered one. Cheers OP

  • +1

I am not a coffee fan, bought one anyway

    • Same, at least when guests come over I can now say I have coffee

  • I have an odd urge to buy another one :/

  • Another thanks to you and your mum OP. Been thinking about getting something like this for ages and have nearly paid far more for crappier machines than this one. The pods seal the deal. Thanks again

  • Thanks OP I've just brought one too, been looking for a new replacement for my crappy ALDI machine for a while.

  • Got one hopefully orders won't be cancelled

  • Are there any issues with using soy milk with this machine?

    • Soy is fine, as long as pure

    • Not sure about with this machine, but Soy milk doesn't froth very well.

  • After thinking about it for the past few hours my wife placed an order. Hope they have stock since this deal has nearly 3500 clicks so far!

    Cheers OP :)

    • I have a feeling they will be shocked on Monday and cancel most orders lol

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

Hopefully they have them in stock, I have the MAP Perfecto and it's been pretty good.

  • Thanks, bought one

Been looking for a new coffee machine. Still using the one I purchased here. How are these machines compared to the one I'm using now? Is it cheaper to purchase these pod than coffee beans?

    • No, on the long run its cheaper and healthier with fresh coffee beans but u need to spend $800 for a proper coffee grinder and brewing machine. It can also be messy cleaning them and maintaining them

  • Ordered one. I was tempted to get the Woolies machine with the integrated milk container for $99 but held off. Glad I did that!

I've been using Caffitaly for a couple of years now. It's great that Woolies stocks the Caffitaly range.

  • +1

Almost 4000 clicks! They are in for a rude awakening on Monday morning, this is surely headed for mass cancellations!

  • +1

    Nabbed one!

My order number is INT10001167X… wonder how many orders they've got since this deal was posted?

Anyone want to compare their order no.?
