i bet Kogan DSE is upto his old tricks.

    • jack up retail prices by 10%, offer a 20% discount, and then charge you shipping to get something in a few weeks. Yep, they're back. Or you can mosey into any store today and get a better deal.

Chromecast 2 for $88? What's the RRP of these things?

    • +27

      $59?

    • +5

Ah, at first I read that as "2 for $88" and thought, not bad… But for just one item.. 😳

    • +7

Holy crap, for this Chrome 2 dodgy job itself, this deserves a neg :(

    • +5

I haven't found any site or store that has ever charged $88 for a Chromecast 2.
When it was released the Chromecast 2 was $59 - http://www.smh.com.au/technology/gadgets-on-the-go/hands-on-…
This is just another blatant cash grab by Kogan/DS. Deals from this company should be banned from OzBargain.

Showing as $74 now. Still $15 more than from Google direct…

  • +18

Price has been jacked up, s7 edge $971 before discount. No deal.

    • +5

True, they have jacked up the prices but the S7 was $899 before the sale and with 20% off the current $972 it takes it down to $778, so still technically cheaper than before… that said you can get it cheaper elsewhere as these are grey imports. I even asked Kogan sales what exact model it was and they couldn't tell me! Luck of the draw BS.

      • +1

        I received today a s7 edge black (not dual) from Kogan. It's a sm-g935f

The 40" FHD TV is showing as $319 on eBay and $379 on Kogan.com - with the 20% off code, that brings the price down to $255 which is cheaper than most 32" 720p TVs.

      • +17

Hello, it's a Kogan TV. It could be $50 and it would still be a waste of $50

        • +1

Have had 5 Samsung plasma's/LCD;s/LED's and currently have a 75 inch Samsung LED.

We have a Kogan 4K TV as both a computer monitor (40 inch) and use it as a second TV for the kids.

The Kogan TV is surprisingly good in HD and excellent for games and for the price, you really can't go wrong.
But yeah, if you're after a cheap 2nd TV or something that is a really good bang for your buck, these are worth a shot.
The speakers on the TV suck and the remote is cheap and basic but the TV itself when plugged into HDMI or running 4K (slightly less) resoultion on the PC, it's brilliant.

        • @murphy84: Awesome! Where can we potentially go wrong though except at voice quality?

        • I have the 48" Agora and can say it's a piece of crap. It worked great for about 2 weeks.
Then when we enabled WIFI, it immediately crashed. Typical Android crash message.

Turn off WIFI and it works great as a "dumb TV". Support line was useless, saying try a firmware update. Same thing. Called support again, they said keep WIFI off?!?! No warranty return on this as the receipt was lost with someone else.

We now use it with an Intel Compute stick, which runs much faster than the internal CPU of the TV anyway.

    It's all shipping from HK

      • +14

Just so it's clear that it isn't Aussie stock. If grey imports is what you're after then go for gold.

    • Looking to buy a headphone for wifey. So even the headphones are not local Ozzie stock?

      • +1

There seems to be a small percentage of stock shipping from Melb so I'll need to retract my previous statement that all is shipping from HK. From my check of about 50 different items it seems to be about 90% from o/s

From what I can see, larger appliances, RAM and monitors ship from Melb. Phones, laptops (from what I've seen), smartwatches and most others ship from HK. Dr Dre Beats ship from HK

        • Thanks for that. How do I check if the thing I am ordering is from local stock or not? Is there another link or something?

It says this on the page "This product is BRAND NEW and comes with a 12 month Australia wide warranty. In the unlikely event that you require a warranty repair, we will collect your item, repair or replace it, then return it you at no charge. It is a requirement of warranty that you keep the original packaging for transportation."

so is it local oz stock?

        • @jeeg:
That I don't know. That sounds like standard Kogan warranty which isn't the same as original manufacturer warranty. It would be best to give them a call to find out but my bet is it isn't oz stock and only comes with Kogan warranty.

        • +1

          @phxsun:

Cheers buddy. Already message them via ebay and they confirmed it is local oz stock with local oz manufacturer warranty. Already bought the item last week too!

      Bootloop ?

      • I am no LG expert i am sure some one on here has a V10

    • Wait for LG V20 which is to be released first week September. I think V10 has a bootloop issue as well, check Google for more info.

      • +2

If the LG G4, LG V10 AND LG G5 all have bootloop issues, I don't know how you can trust such a company and wait for their next iteration. V20 is apparently going to be modular and very similar to G5.

        • +1

There are people like myself who have Lg G4 for many months and do not even know what you are talking about? Could it have existed in certain batches?

        • @http404:

Agree had my G4 for 15 months no issues

        • @Aced21: I haven't faced any problems with G4 yet (touch wood) and know many people who haven't either. I am not denying the fact that many might have but so many haven't.

What is the deal with GST?
I see no mention of it on http://stores.ebay.com.au/Dick-Smith-Australia/Terms-of-Sale…

    • +1

Wondering the same, I saw one item had location as Melbourne, others are Hong Kong. My guess is if item location is in Australia than it's gonna have GST included in the price, if it's HK than it won't.

        • @nismo: I am not sure mate. I am actually waiting for toll to deliver a phone from Eglobal right now. I would have bought from Kogan just for the warranty but i am not sure how it works.

        • @aussieprepper:

i had a faulty kogan Z5 compact which became faulty after about 8 months. you contact the via email and they ask you a few troubleshooting questions. if it can't be resolved, they email you, from memory a prepaid aus post bar code to print out. once you send it back to them you'll get a new phone 1 or 2 weeks later, assuming you haven't done anything to brick your phone.

having said that i've done 3 warranty claims with kogan and had no issues at all.

for those who don't wanna wait 1 or 2 or 3 weeks for a warranty claim, better just buy locally. if you're planning to buy from a overseas seller i would go kogan anyday.

Awesome, Balco 3d printer down to $399 with code.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Balco-3D-Printer-4-x-FREE-Filamen…

    • So far that looks like the best deal.

      • It has been $399 before. I wouldn't drop $400 on an re-badged printer with no reviews and seemingly no usergroup\support base.

        • That's not true - it's a rebadged Wanhao v2.1 or also known as the aldi printer.

          This printer has reviewed well:
          https://www.3dhubs.com/3d-printers/wanhao-duplicator-i3
          https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/3pdaf7/my_wanha…

In terms of price, there is no way to get this for cheaper, including overseas sources (amazon has it for $375usd + 50 shipping for example)

        • @superroach: What's not true? I couldn't find any reviews of this particular badging - it could well be quite different from the aldi variant or identical.

        • @brenwildman:
Sure thing. It's not true about there being no reviews. You can verify by looking at the product specs, photos and even the website being very similar, but this post from a user asking who the supplier is:

          http://whrl.pl/ReFmqW

        • That links for $499 not $399.Also this is a printer made off of a reference model that is well known and supported.

  • Why doesn't everybody that buys through them, after they jack the prices just give negative feedback…?

    • +3

Why would you buy from them if they jacked the price…?

      • It still works out slightly cheaper than their competitors - after the discount. So, if the're desperate I guess?

        • I wouldn't give a negative feedback for that reason.
If worse comes to worse, maybe a neutral feedback.

Can't fault them for my stupidity, if I'm stupid enough to fall for their cash-grab tactics.

  • +7

    Don't get dicked by kogan

    • +2

The competition is stiff these days.

      • +2

        "Our competitors flip flop".

        • It's getting "hard" to survive in this competitive electronics market.

  • +10

After Jacking up prices and applying the 20% discount it come up to same 10% discount from Ebay. Remember they bargain with ebay for less commision and during these promotions. Its all about business.
I reckon its a dishonest behaviour that u jack up prices before giving a promotion and than after promotion lower the prices again. basically tricking ppl

    • +3

      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    • it really is so scummy.
Obviously a lot of deals aren't too bad even after the inflated pricing but it's a slimey marketing tactic and it's probably duped thousands of not so tech/internet forum/business savvy Australians.

This kind of thing should be illegal but it's good for the economy. Very frustrating.

  • +24

    BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER

    Nope, still dishonest.
