Maybe "better" here implies better for them, not us.

  • +12

Grey Import but almost local price (before discount).
    Fake sale…

  • -6

Hey OP, how about post a real bargain rather than overpriced Kogan/DS, you on commission?

    • +7

If you have been here a while, you know how it is with TA and this site…

      • +12

Yeah, but this is a crappy deal from a tightarse.
People could get dicked by these sales. It'll make you angry like Hulk Kogan.

    • +8

its not OP's fault when someone jacked up price…

    • -1

TA posts some really great deals especially IWTF ones! He's been a legend negotiating deals with Lenovo for OB community!

    • +1

Such wise words from a user that has contributed one lonely 3 vote deal in his whole 18 months of being an Ozbargain member. Don't despair, at that rate you can match and maybe even exceed TA's contribution in just a short 3688 years assuming TA immediately ceases posting deals and you discover what Ponce de León failed to in the 16th century. ;)

      • -1

obviously too much time on your hand detective.

        • You got one thing correct in your reply, very well done- I did only use one hand as the other was busy palming my face at your comment- Gold star for you :)

While my face was being punished for your ignorance I clicked on your name (0.5sec), clicked on TA's (0.5sec), added 50 % to TA's post count, recalled a childhood memory then hit a couple of keys and what do you know, I’m done. But since you somehow believe this process must’ve taken a substantial amount of time, I am now going to spend exactly that in a simplified break down just for you extending a quick reply into quiet the opposite.

Now I can see where the hard part must be for you, but did you know if instead of counting on your fingers you just do the math in your head, it literally turns your 2 and a half hours of sums into a 2.5 second process . Amazing right? Now this goes into some advanced year 2 math’s but stay with me, if we take your 1.5 yrs Ozbargain membership and 1 deal posted in said amount of time from that 0.5 sec click on your name, we know that it takes you on average 1.5 yrs to post 1 deal. And from that 0.5 sec click on TA's name we know that he had 2458 deals posted.
Now this part is where we do some "Black Mathemagics". You know the type your teacher used to frown upon because you didn't show your working out? Yeah I know I'm a rebel. So now take JUST that 1 year of yours and times it by TA's post count giving us?…Stop..I can already hear you reciting off your 1 times tables but we can just skip straight to 1 times 2458 and that equals? 2458. Trust me I’m a professional one times tabler ;) But what about the extra half a year left over I hear you saying? I'm glad you asked. See all we have to do now is half TA's post count of 2458, yes I know division can be hard sometimes so I’ll just give you the answer- it’s 1229. Now we have your 1 year accounted for as well as your half year. Now add them together…..without your fingers, and we get?………………………..don't worry I’ll tell you- it's 3687. This is the total amount of years it would take you to match TA if he stopped posting immediately.
Now all up how long was that process? Hmm 0.5 sec for your number plus 0.5 sec for TA’s then what 5 seconds for calcula…you know what I’ll double it for you- a whole 10 sec’s to divide a 4 digit number by 2 and add together 2 four digit numbers. So I have all the numbers for my original post in 11 secon- hell make it 15 seconds.
Oh wait- that Ponce de León Fountain of youth reference must’ve taken “research” right? Not at all- when faced with the 3687 years you would need to catch up to TA there is really only one available solution- the “Fountain of Youth”. That was instant but we’ll doc it 5 secs but c’mon who hasn’t heard of the Legend of The Fountain of Youth right? But Ponce de lion had to take some research right…yep it did, well kind of. As a kid I had a couple hundred comics and what do you know in one of the “Duck Tails” stories they search for the Fountain of Youth and find a young Ponce de León himself guarding it. So something I read at 10 stuck with me thru life and my good old brain in all its wisdom chose to erase passwords, pins and girls phone numbers instead of that damn explorer’s name. Well that certainly saved me a lot of time because the instant “Fountain of Youth” enters my head, so does good old Ponce de León meaning he takes no thinking time either. So really all that’s left is the time it took to type which is easily under a minute but I’ll give you the full min. So lets see, that will be 1 min 20 sec all up so far but I like you so you can have a whole 40 seconds extra added free!
So- I spent 2 mins coughmorelikeaminute cough replying to your now deleted comment and that means I OBVIOUSLY have too much time on my hand? Also how am I a detective? Wait…I know- it’s because I detected your bullsh** isn’t it? That’s clever, you really made me think on that one (yep my head hurts now :P) Two minutes spent on a reply while sitting on the can is far from too much time on my hand- this reply DEFINES the very meaning of too much time on my hand. Hope you enjoyed the lesson- have another gold star :)

Glad I jumped on the T-Dimension 10% off deal earlier this week. After 20% off, the S7 and S7 Edge from Kogan come down to the same price as T-Dimension BEFORE the 10% discount was applied.

        • +3

Yep, but it's not TA's fault as to what DS/Kogan do. He doesn't even work for them. He's purely sharing the sale. No different to the countless member sharing deals for the store

        • @ahok:

Kindly check the deals page, someone posted this just after TA.

Again, this sale would've been posted on here, regardless of who it was, your issue is with Kogan/DS, NOT THE POSTER

        • +1

@Spackbace: How do you know he doesn't have a problem with the poster

      • -7

OP promotes the shop with dishonest practice of jacking the prices up. Some items are more expensive after discount than regular prices from other sellers.

        • +7

I don't see TA 'promoting' the shop, I see him sharing the sale. Big difference.

        • -8

@Spackbace: His post generated probably thousands of extra clicks and some sales = promotion.

        • @kwaka:
Yes, but then if you're an OzBargo you would've looked at all the pricing and would've said "Hell no", and closed the window.
          I know I did.
And I was looking to buy a Seagate 2.5" 2TB HDD to dismantle.

        • -5

@Spackbace: are you TA under different username from different IP? you defended TA at every turn.

        • +5

          @ahok:

The difference between you and me is 1 of us actually participates regularly on this site and gets to know the other members that participate regularly.
1 of us also doesn't feel the need to attack random people on a bargain sharing site.

        • -8

@Spackbace: you should find a real job.

        • @ahok:

          When do you finish school?

        • Let's not make this personal. If you don't like the deal then fine. But there is no need to attack or accuse the OP or other users on this site. Attacking people for posting a deal isn't really promoting an environment where people want to share bargains they find.

Play the ball, not the man.

        • @Adhoc: Real name was probably taken

        • @Spackbace:
That's only because "Spackbace" and "tightarse" seem to post a lot on OzBargain, and usually around the same time, and they even have the same logo (white in black).

So as far as ahok is concerned, Spackbace = tightarse.

And he was pissed because tightarse usually posts some neat treats on OzBargain, and this deal was a lemon. (Even I'm tempted to neg this "deal" by tightarse). So when ahok questioned it, and maybe thought tightarse was promoting it… tightarse didn't bother to respond.

However, instead of tightarse there was Spackbace defending the OP. So it seemed fishy.

I read the OzBargains terms and conditions, and it doesn't prohibit the use of more than one account. So tightarse can have one account to post deals on, and another account Spackbace to comment on forums with. But it does say you're prohibited to use other accounts to fraudulently vote, recommend, or advertise a deal/service that you are associated with. And that all accounts must show their association to stores/companies/services.

!!! Scratch that, it's now updated, it is prohibited to own multiple accounts (unless pre-approved by OzB).

Or, here's a thought, we just support each other? Heaven forbid that happens on the internet!

        • @Kangal:

No one can have multiple accounts, not even for personal or business use (use 1 account for both) or for posting for multiple stores.

          Terms & Conditions of Use

Multiple accounts held by the same individual or entity are subject to immediate termination unless expressly authorised by OzBargain.

That has been there since that page was created in 2011. Revisions

Don't shoot the messenger ahok. Really poor form, you're implying TA is causing price jacking, he isn't! Anyone with half a brain can see that.

      • its strange that this 'deal' page has soo many negs, but the individual items deal from Dickogan got some upvotes.

going back to ahok first comment was that TA at the new low, maybe implying TA at its lowest (too much negs) votes ever.

never seen TA with soo many negs still, first time ever.

  • Tempting to buy a new monitor before price gets jacked hmm

  • the phones I'm looking at are priced cheaper at Kogan
the eBay coupon only ends up saving a few percent in the end, not 20%
    typical….

  • +21

Didn't Kogan get fined for bumping up the price before going on "sale" or are they pulling the semantics of "it's eBay offering the discount, not us"? ACCC, please increase your fine by an order of magnitude every time these companies do this, eventually they will learn, possibly the hard way.

    • +2

      Yepp.

I was one of the people that made a formal complaint to the ACCC.
They got a slap on the wrist.
I don't think the ACCC cares too much, or might give them a one-off, simply for the reason of Dick's liquidation.

      • +1

Technically this is a new store, so prices aren't being 'bumped up', you're just paying much more than their Kogan account, but with a 20% off promotion.

It's trickery, but it's not price manip.

  • Almost didn't bother to click on this deal this time. No surprises when you dont see anything useful here.

  • Is macbook 12" 256GB 2016 a deal?
    $1963 * 80% = $1570
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-12-Macbook-MMGL2-256GB-1-1G…
    While at OW $1895
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/macbook-12-…

OW won't price match it becoz the one from Kogan is international stock, and it cannot be TRS refunded too right?

    • If it's over $1000 AU you pay GST on grey imports, therefore should be TRS refundable.

      • Technically there is supposed to be a limit of A$900pp of GST free goods you can bring back into the country.

I claimed a TRS refund for some goods that I now want to bring back into Australia. What do I need to know?
If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring in up to A$900 worth of general goods into Australia duty-free, or A$450 if you are younger than 18. Families travelling together can pool this allowance (so a couple with a child can bring in a total of A$900 + $900 + A$450 = A$2250 worth of general goods into Australia without paying duty or tax). This is called your Passenger Concession.

Such a rip off. No bargain this time. eBay FAIL!

Looking to buy an iPad mini. After the 20% discount it came to $12 cheaper than buying from Apple direct, which means that at a starting price of $1221.99, DS (kogan) was only $232.99 overpriced to start with…not bad for a grey import with no local warranty!

  • Please list some relevant deals on the site or convert this to a forum post, it is not a "deal".

      OzBargain rule:

Deal posts that reference a sale, catalogue or store but don't provide enough information to find at least one bargain, may be unpublished. Deal posts that contains ambiguous or non descriptive titles such as 'up to 50% off sale', 'big clearance' or 'sale' may be unpublished unless specific items are mentioned within the deal description OR a dedicated offer/discount such as '50% off sale' is present (preferably in the title).

A 20% off deal is okay. However as they have clearly inflated prices then instead of being a '20% off sale', it is actually 'up to 20% off sale'. This violates the rules and this deal should be unpublished.

  • +5
