i think this deal has been around for a while. (past 2 months or summin) in melb anyway. mann i love subway.. i wish the 6 inch meatball subs were 2$

  • Melb subway has had this for a while.

    Get toasted italian herbs> swiss cheese> mayonnaise…drooool….

Good price if you like these things but I thought they were absolutely disgusting. Full of processed microwaved egg. Tasted like rubber. I will never again purchase one.

have to agree about the egg, same had one once and never again absolutely disgusting

    • I agree as well regarding the egg. I got a freebie the other month and I really couldn't stomach the egg. I'd probably just get it with bacon and cheese next time!

I actually work casually at a Subway Store. Don't fall for the 'eat fresh' slogan, it is clearly misleading and deceptive. The only thing that stands by the general definition of fresh are the chopped capsicum, cucumber, onion and tomatoes. NOTHING ELSE. 1. Bread is derived from frozen tubes that we recieve, proof and bake. 2. ALL cheeses, meats and pseudo-eggs are heavily processed - delivered weekly to the coolroom by Bidvest then placed into black boxes called 'Cambros'. 3. Eating 3 Subway cookies - alone - contains both more of kilojoules and fat contained in a standard Big Mac. Think before you eat.

        • Damn, i love their cookies :(

@kelsey2112: At first I was devastated too, but the health risks can overtake the perceived taste. They are taken out of the freezer and baked for 15 minutes. Here's the ingredients of an M&M one: Enriched bleached flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), sugar, palm oil, chocolate chips (sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, vanilla), candy pieces (milk chocolate [sugar, chocolate, milk, cocoa butter, lactose, soy lecithin, salt, artificial flavors] sugar, cornstarch, corn syrup, gum acacia, coloring [includes red 40 lake, yellow 5, yellow 6, blue 2 lake, red 40, blue 1 lake, blue 1, blue 2, yellow 5 lake, yellow 6 lake], dextrin), eggs, water, molasses, baking soda, salt, whey, natural and artificial flavor.

I don't think you would add those nasties to a 'fresh' or homestyle cookie.

            • @dman801: Heh. If you think about it, the slogan just says "Eat Fresh". It doesn't say "Eat Fresh at Subway". Maybe the slogan is the way it is because of advice from their lawyers. :P

  • if the chopped capsicum, cucumber, onion and tomatoes are not fresh, what else!?:)

when they started doing breakfast in our local stores, they'd crack the egg in front of you, best thing ever … since they moved to the processed egg's, i'd rather eat maccas …

  • well, i suppose the issue is the balance between prices and quality ingredients, and with prices like this, even less ingredients will be fresh…. :(

  • ive always thought the subway was a sham, now that powdered egg is the last straw. subway eat dodge

  • is there a voucher for the MELBOURNE ONE? or its just generally that price??

    • It is $2 at all VIC stores currently, no voucher required.

  • yeah all the stuffs there are fresh FROM THE FREEZER

  • I once asked how fresh some of their produce are. "do u have live chickens in the back ready for my sub?" then they told me nothing is fresh from them

To bad i dont have much choice around my work but to eat subway, its still a deal for those that do like the taste. ive never tried it.

  • Damn, that sucks (about the processed eggs) but I think I have tried it once and it did taste quite dodgy. Well I hope it's still healthier than McDonalds and the other large fast food chains because I prefer eating subway over other fast foods purely due to health.

    • Subway would be worse - remember 3 X thawed Subway Cookies contain both more fat and kilojoules than a juicy Big Mac.

      • But what about, say, a foot long compared to a burger.

Say, tuna, or seafood, or pizza (the ones I normally get) compared to McChicken burger, Cheeseburger.

I'm not that surprised the cookies are so unhealthy, but they are bloody delicious haha.
