Shanghai flying Qantas* return with departures between 25 April and 16 November 2017. All departures are via Sydney. Not as good as the deal with Hainan mentioned yesterday, but might suit those who are either loyal to Qantas or prefer a nonstop flight.

•Sydney – $577 (nonstop)
•Melbourne -$604
•Brisbane – $605
•Adelaide – $644

Sample Dates: 3-10 May, 30 May – 6 June, 14-21 June, 9-16 August, 17-24 October

  • Note that the flights eventhough are ticketed through Qantas are operated by China Eastern. You can pay a bit more and fly one way Qantas and one way China Eastern. Hope this clears things up.

R u sure is it Qantas flight or China Eastern share code ,maybe just for one way

    • what i check is if both way by Qantas, the lowest should be $670, if straightly choose China eastern is around $450, if you buy through Qantas, you will pay $570 for the share code CE means you still fly with CE in fact ,it is tricky.

So based on that it's not really "flying Qantas" as per title, for that price. Big difference (having flown the China Eastern version, wouldn't fly them again).

Thanks for pointing that out. I have updated the post

  • Can you provide exact links?

Skyscanner makes it difficult to search the non-cheapest fares like this (and the qantas website isn't showing them).

    • I have included sample dates. Try those dates and you should find them. Though note there is plenty of availability between 25 April and 16 November 2017

  • Any cheap flights from Sydney to Nanjing (direct flight preferred)?

    • I will keep an eye out for these and post these accordingly on the blog first. Cant see anything atm.

      • What is your blog url?

        • It's already in the deal description above.

All these Chinese fares should note the minimum $100 visa fee and multiple visits to Chinese Visa service centre (unless you have Chinese passport).

    • good point. Thanks for pointing it out,

  • If you fly through the qantas share code do you earn points and status credits as if you were flying on a qantas operated flight?

    • +1

Earns points but not status credits.
