[Unobtainable Deal] PS4 Pro 1TB Console $449.62 @ Target

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Target currently has a PS4 Pro Bundle with 3 games (Ghost Recon Wildlands, Watch Dogs 2 & Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare) for $559. If you do not want the games because you already have them or because you have some other wonderful reason, you can take $109.38 from the price of the PS4 Pro. I tried this today and I have uploaded a receipt as proof. I am not 100% sure if all Target stores will do this. You may have to find a nice manager.

Good day to you all.

Mod: This deal has been unpublished and moved to the forum, Target are not supposed to refund the game value as cash and is therefore unobtainable unless a staff member incorrectly processes the transaction. See this comment for more information.

A friendly reminder to always report a deal (using the report link below) if there is an issue with it (this deal was not reported and we were unaware of the exact circumstances/issue until now).

    Well Done! Great first post.

  • +1

    Yeah great find!
Would this deal with with EB price match? I mean, does EB pay the same price for trade ins?

    • I think that's not trade in but return

      • Trade video games for credit.

  • Good work

  • +2

Tempting, but waiting for a PS4 Pro + GT Sport bundle that will surely be out in a month or two.

    • Friend, fot gt7 right? i doubt it will be much cheaper than this

  • -1

Will all the stores do this?

    • +4

      From the post description

I am not 100% sure if all Target stores will do this.

    • Please refer to my comment made in this thread. Link here

Sold my brand new in the box PS4 Pro 1TB with no games to a dude about a month ago for $500.

Kinda feeling bad for him :(

    • +2

      Why would you feel bad

      • +12

        it was his brother!

        • +5

          It was his mum

        • +11

@singhdingaling: Wait a second. His mum is a dude?

        • +20

Did you just assume his mum's gender?

  • +1

Can't believe you got $30 for watch dogs.

    • Watch dogs 2 is fairly recent right

      • -1

Yeah but its pretty average… most stores already heavily discounting it

  • +4

This has happened with bundles in the past, and it's a store by store basis as to whether you can get the bundled games refunded or not.

    • I think it's person by person basis, as no Target stores will accept this kind of returns. Refer to my comment here

      • Yes, that's exactly what I meant.

Edit: And regarding your post, I think most people here are aware of that, which is why I'm surprised this is a) a deal, and b) getting so many upvotes.

  • +8

Another option would be to just take the games back to Target sealed, without receipt and they will give you store credit. You should get $136 in total. Not as good as cash, but if you're going to spend the money anyway it's not a bad option.

      FTFY

      • Wtf?

        • +2

Wtf indeed. Happy for you to explain how it's not fraud. Feel free to use laws if you "believe in" them.

        • +3

@Putnum: scum downvoting you because they feel guilty. Jokes on them, Target's point of sale keeps a track of sales so if they haven't sold those games individually and the fraudsters can't show a receipt, the store is within their right to not refund/credit at all (and will probably call loss prevention officers at the same time).

        • +3

          @Putnum:

I'm not sure I'd call it fraud. I bought them from Target. I'm returning them to target. Which fits into their return policy. And it's store credit so you're still spending the same amount at Target. But hey if you're not comfortable doing it then best you don't.

          As per their policy:

At Target you have 28 days to return your items (some exclusion apply) for a full refund or exchange as long as it is returned in a saleable condition with original proof of purchase. The refund will be provided using your original payment method.

Computer games, CDs and DVDs must have the original security seal or and shrink wrap is intact.
If you can’t provide proof of purchase, you will be asked to provide identification for Target exclusive products, containing your full name. We will record your name and form of identification provided, and we’ll offer you an exchange coupon to the value of the current price of that product.

That seems to suggest it is not fraud, since if you return the game without a receipt and they accept the return then their own policy states "we’ll offer you an exchange coupon to the value of the current price of that product"

@Putnum: I'm happy for you to explain how returning an item at Target is illegal. LOL.

        • @Tiggrrrrr: #rekt

        • @Orpheus: I'm happy for you to explain how buying something for a cheaper price and then returning it for a higher price and pretending you lost the receipt is both ethically and legally acceptable.

        • @Putnum: Now you are mixing ethics with legality. If you willfully destroy the receipt and admit you threw the receipt away, for example, this is not a lie.

The same goes for people who evade tax. It is legal, but is it ethical?

        • @Tiggrrrrr: wait, did you just say tax evasion is legal?

        • @Putnum: That was my point. According to my ethics tax "minimisation" is effectively tax "evasion".

    • +3

Having worked at Target for many years, I can say that this will definitely not work. Exchange coupons are only given when the item is definitely from Target. Items which are only sold at Target. The video game could be from any store that sells it. You'll not get a refund. That is, of course, presuming the person behind the counter follows the company policy.

  • If you had bought it just after midnight last night when the website had update with the deal but used the original game prices when added to the cart, the deal was going through as $397.56/$56.18/$56.18/$49.07

  • +1

Geez I just bought the bundle and I didn't want the games, was about to list on ebay and saw this post! Will they refund me for the games at this point or only offer store credit?

    • Give it a go. Don't forget to report back

      • +8

Just got back from my local Target (Highpoint) girl at returns counter said they wouldn't normally do it but she refunded the amount for the games back onto my card!

        Happy days ^^

        • Well done

  • This is a pretty good deal, I just paid another OzB dude $100 for a $200 one of them fancy Sony store voucher things and I just got one for $460 I think shipped.
Mind you (believe it or not) I'd have preferred a retail purchased product. I'd trust Target to just swap for a new one, no crap since they are a massive retailer.

  • If you can just get it with Watch Dogs 2. Great game. The others are…not good.

  • Quality first post! I was just about to buy a second ps4 pro 1TB with 2 controllers for $475 no box and NO receipt.

Didn’t wanna commit till the guy got a copy of the receipt printed out from EB, and thank God for that because this seems like a way better deal!

Bought the PS4 Pro from Target this afternoon. Last one they had. Got home, opened it up, someone put a PS4 in the PS4 Pro box.

    • +1

Humanity has sunk to a new low. They must have bought the console only for $559, not only had it refunded to get the new package deal, they replaced the pro with their old ps4 console. I better be wary of people who are selling PS4s with no box and receipts (as above!).

      • Funny part is that it looks like a brand new PS4, so I'm guessing someone bought the pro and the PS4, switched them, then returned the pro. Fortunately they keep their details after a return

        • +2

That is an absolute scum move I hope they catch whichever bell did it u can't believe some people

    • +32

You unlucky bugger. I bought a PS4 yesterday from Target and it had a PS4 Pro inside the box!

  • +13

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I work at Target (both at refunds and home entertainment section) and I am sure this is not allowed/within policy.

The staff who are giving such 'discounts' or allowing returns of games only, do not understand the procedure.

This is a 'bundle deal' and as such, all items must be returned as a 'bundle'. The correct procedure would be for the OP to return the whole bundle, get the full refund of amount, then have to buy the console separately for $559.

I am sure disciplinary actions and/or retraining will happen towards staff who does this.

OP, you are indeed lucky to have this happened. Well done to you.

EDIT: This should be moved to to the forums. This is not a deal and is a mistake made by the staff there.

      🙈🙉🙊

Yeah and he's going to get the poor guy/girl fired for posting this on ozbargain… well done indeed.

Sometimes people don't think and quick to post this kind of "special deals" on ozbargain showing the receipt with store name and all the information that can point towards the unsuspected individual who did the op a "favour".

I just came back from JB and some dude was trying to get JB to price match with the same receipt.
He also went to my local Target and begged them to honour the same deal.

The deal itself is a bargain, but the process to get it down to $449.62 is not standard procedure.

      • +5

were you following this dude? how did you know what he did in JB and Target?

        • +3

          He's a professional.

        • He was begging the guy in JB to price match with Target.
I was next in line for service so I heard everything.
Guy was very persistent too and the store manager was called in to explain their price matching policy.

I went to Target after JB and bumped into him again.

        • +1

          @JajaMinx:

          Bs. It was u.

        • @Orpheus: He did the art of stealth

        • @Orpheus:

          Comment. Approved.

      • Gotta be in it to win it, and by win it I mean get a random retail employee in trouble. It's fine though, retail managers are very supportive. /s

  • +1

Yup just tried at my local target. No cookie. Though the lady could've been less of a b*tch about it lol.

    • This is why I hate trying these things some of these shop assistants act like your stealing out of their pockets

  • Those looking for an alternative, you can always trade the games at JB or EB for purchasing another game at the respective store.

  • This is why we can't have nice things.

  • Tried this at Chadstone VIC. He said they're not allowed because the games are supposed to be $0 as part of the bundle, or something.

I mentioned some other stores are doing it and he ignored me completely.. Didn't say a word. Was pretty weird tbh

  • +1

I guess OP will never have another nice deal like this again in his local Target store.

  • +1

Big no! Can't believe staff are doing this. No wonder most stores are performing so poorly.

    • Target were selling the PlayStation Pro 1Tb console on their website and in store for $489 last week (which I missed out on). So, it's another $40 cheaper. It'll probably be selling for that price again around Christmas, so I don't think Target are making a loss or selling it under their cost price.

I already own an original PS4 which I bought from Target on launch day (so yes, I got massively ripped off), but if I can score a PS Pro for $449 or even $489, i'll buy one. I'll give it a go at my local Target!

Either way, well done to the OP for using his/her initiative and asking not to have the games that come with the bundle!

  • Those 3 games are (profanity) RUBBISH (Ghost Recon Wildlands, Watch Dogs 2 & Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare)
Shame you cant get 60/90x3 off instead of getting the 3 games for "free"/bundled

    • Watch Dogs 2 was one of the best games of last year in my opinion. Easy top 5, anyway.

IW wasn't rubbish either. It wasn't spectacular, but it was a fine way to waste 8 or so hours.

  • G'day All,

FWIW, I am planning to buy a PS4 Pro soon and did request our local store if they can swap the three games with others as I want to buy this for my 6 year old and wanted to something more appropriate for his age. The gentleman hesitatingly agreed but only for games around same value.

Could someone please suggest 3 best games in that age bracket (6-8 yr olds). I am thinking of:

    1) Rachet and Clank
    2) NBA 2017
    3) Minecraft/tanks ?

    Appreciate the suggestions.

    Regards

    • +1

Doing that is a good deal too. I had to take the games with the bundle, though I think I can sell them for around $40 each so it should work out OK.

Minecraft is great for kids, and Ratchet and Clank is suitable but might be a bit hard for kids that young. No idea about NBA, never played.

      • Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

    • Not sure a 6yo will appreciate a PS4 Pro over a standard PS4.

  • Time to jump on board the 4K train with this methinks

  • Just called my local store. No go.

  • OP you should blur out the receipt specifics, someone might get in trouble for doing you a favor as JajaMinx said.

I asked politely in my store but they said as it's a 'bundle' they can't change anything. Wouldn't dream of showing them OP's receipt as 'proof'. If you get a helpful member of staff then great, but don't advertise it.

  • Come see me when its 350 :)

  • I will just sell on Gumtree/ebay or Facebook.

  • I'm gonna ask tonight, failing that, should be able to sell the games on privately for $100+ after postage, sale fees, etc.

    • Unlikely.

    • struggling to sell mine brand new copies on gumtree for >$100. but managed to swap 2 of them for 2 games i actually want.

      • Got store credit. Decent enough for me.

      • How long have you had the add up for?

        • +1

great question. so far it has been 15hrs as of this posting. i'm trading wildlands and watchdogs 2 for ffxv and uncharted 4. so all good.

  • Does anyone know how much you'd get for the games at EB?

    • +1

About $60, slightly more at JB.

  • +1

136 up votes. Has anyone else other than OP actually managed to get the deal?

I'm not sure how this is a deal? It's not widely available, as the Target staff are not meant to be partially refunding a bundle. The deal relies completely on getting a staff member to do something they shouldn't, according to their employer, be doing.

    • It's only available on 01 April.

  • A friendly reminder to always report a deal (using the report link below the deal) if there is an issue with it (this deal was not reported and we were unaware of the exact circumstances/issue until now).

  • I got this deal actually,thanks a lot
