It's part of Dell's weekend sale. This specific model of Dell Inspiron 17 5000 is at 40% off at the moment, $80 cheaper than 2 weeks ago at $959 delivered.

  • Intel Core i7-7500U
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • 1TB 5400RPM HDD
  • AMD Radeon R7 M445 with 4GB
  • 17.3" Full HD
  • 2.83kg

R7 M445 is "low end" comparable to GT940M on ThinkPad E570. There's not many port options either with only one HDMI 1.4 for external monitor. However it's a good price for a big machine as desktop replacement.

Also note that there's currently a Refurbished at Dell Outlet for $899, but one only.

    Pro Tip: Add $100 - $200 for a 250GB - 500GB SSD as the 1TB 5400RPM HDD will frustrate you in waiting for things to happen.
    SSD will make a huge difference.

          @wolfenator87: You can take it to uni and watch movies at the front row of lecture hall. Your mates 3 or 4 rows behind can still enjoy it.

    Shame theres no 17r replacement from Dell. 120hz screen, 3d glasses, bluray drive, dgpu, 2tb hdd. It was a beast in its day.
