  • is it lock to crazy john network?
    though it's cheap
the hassle to unclock the phone turn me down from getting the phone

    • Optus network? I think it would be Vodafone because Crazy Johns is run on the Vodafone network

  • +1

A phone for $14.. I mean I'm sure it's rubbish. But a phone is a phone. Call, text. And I assume it can do both. Good enough =)

    • +1

Looks like you have to pick a plan and the cheapest is $10 so that's $24 in total. Still, not bad.

  • LG KC910 Renoir $124. so this phone is locked to vodafone network?

  • LG Cookie now $59. We paid $200 for that (oputs prepaid) less than a year ago. So, can anyone confirm that these are on optus or vodafone? I can't get vodafone.

  • Would also love to know if these pre-paid handsets are locked to the network.

And if so… what is the fee (if any) to get them unlocked.

I'm waiting for new Optus iPhone 4 to arrive but have already sold my 3GS so I just need a get-me-by phone for a couple weeks. All it needs to do is phone calls, SMS and have bluetooth for the car. Something like this $14 Samsung would be perfect as a spare handset. Presume if it's unlocked I can put in my Optus iPhone SIM and away we go ?

    • can be unlocked for free the M610. See my reply below.

      • I tried a few times following the code online, however the last code always results in "Wrong password" message, and could not be unlocked properly. I like to keep my IMEI code, which tutorial did you follow? cheers.

        • +1

Not sure if its ok to post it here. But my method requires no imei changing, just type in a 7 character code and press the dial button and BAM Done.

It erases the EEPROM and unlocks everything.
Go to Google, search M610 unlock.
Link i used was the first one, from GSM Forum, then use the code from user 'emal'

  • Hi i bought a crazy johns prepaid 6 months ago — it was definitely on vodafone. I could unlock it for free after 6 months.

  • Not sure about vodafone but for optus pre paid you can unlock the phone for free after having it for 6 months. So, that works out pretty good.

  • These are definitely locked to vodafone.. and there's a 100 dollar fee or something if you unlock it before the six months.. not sure what it is after. Just got the cookie and the cheap samsung.. it's interesting to note that the blue and the pink samsung's have this 'bonus freebie' that it offers a bluetooth headset and car charger with the purchase.. nothing in the terms & conditions, but they better honor it seeing that they advertised it on the site.. definitely makes the $14 dollars worth it then. :)

    • i too saw the bluwtooth headset offer, but cant find it now… can u post the link plz?

  • I bought a 14 dollar one impulsively last night…

I hope they don't force u to buy the $10 credit.

    Can anyone advice?

    • Could you please advise if it works with Optus/Voda/other sims?

      • +1

Just brought one, it comes with Bluetooth headset. Works with other sims if you simply unlock it. Just search google M610 unlock, just press a few numbers and bam done. its the EEPROM erase dial code.

$14 for a phone + free bluetooth headset, definably a bargain

        • Hi lplau, did you bought in store. I bought one one online just now, wondering whether i could get the Bluetooth headset as well…

          • @Saturday: I brought it in store, they had it in their own Crazy Johns Plastic Blister Packaging. Not the original Samsung packaging.

            • @lplau: Was the bluetooth headset in the blister pack as well (otherwise how did you get it)? Thanks

              • +2

@daydream: It was in the blister package. Everything was repackaged, came in 1 package.
Phone, Bluetooth Headset, Charging cable for phone and headset, Wired handsfree, USB cable for phone, Manuals. All in 1 Blister pack, packaged by Crazy Johns.

        • Hi Iplau, can you confirm that the phone is working allright after you do EEPROM erase dial code?? i mean, using other sim card and all

          • @antzz: Put my virgin sim into it, gets reception, calls fine. Nothing seems wrong with it (yet)…

      • should be with Voda, they gave me a voda handbag

  • can you buy them in store?
cause the website doesn't seem to work for me.
    no active links.
which one is the cheapest 3g phone anyone know?
    thanks!

    • The only 3G phones I can see are the LG Renoir at $124.
      Samsung B5310 at $199
      and LG GW620 at $299

    • Bought them from store. dont have to buy any topup.
$14 for a handset, bluetooth, and $55 credit.
      amazing

  • great deal. bought myself the usb modem for 24 dollars. (best deal going thats for sure!) looks like you can order online though.

  • +1

Worth noting the U6-T USB Modem1 $24 prepaid modem is only available in the footy show version -shudder-. Not the good NRL footy show either, the afl version. On a plus note the Crazy Johns prepaid plans aren't bad, and it seems if you use the $24 prepaid modem then for $15 a month you get 2gb included data instead of only 1.5gb and on a 6 month plan as well.

    • Yeh and as a bargain i think i can live with the footy show branding… Hell I'll live with it having unicorns and rainbows.

the plans look good to but I'm not a big user so this prepaid stuff is fine by me.

  • Is shipping free?

    • +1

looks like it. I only got charged $24 for the modem.

  • Thanks! Grabbed the Samsung M610.

Shipping is free too - double yay! :-)

  • Great Deal. Just told my parents and they told their friends. I think I ended up buying 8 phones.

  • Got 2 sammie M610. Got 55 dollar for starting (free) AEON Bluetooth and all accessorise for my Samsung omnia (Charger, car charger) and free throw me phone for other need which easily unlocked.

Melbourne city store has 4 left, the phone expert in store said.

  • Impulse bought 2! Now need to get cracking on unlocking them! Is it a standard procedure or does the code depend on the IMEI?

  • hi does any1 know if this phones are locked to any network or not ?

    • Yes, all them them will be locked.
      As with ALL prepaid phones

  • Hey to unlock Samsung M610 some solution says the IMEI no goes to 0000000000000 what happen if that the case? will you still be able to use the phone?

i know IMEI is to stop the phone functioning if your phone is stolen and you can report it. the thing is will this matter if the phone IMEI is erased? can we still used it?

  • does the online order of the m610 come with a bluetooth set?

    • Not anymore - it was there when I ordered this morning
But not current I think the m610 is sold out from the website
      Last resource will be stores…

  • the online ordering button doesn't work..is it the site or my net explorer prob?

    • It worked for me.

  • just a heads up
just ordered two of the m610's in my cart. but its disappeared from the search list. think it may be sold out.

    • Yeah - sold out

  • I can't find the m610 deal on their page. Can someone please point me to the url?

  • I'm confused. I put the LG Cookie phone in my cart and now it's asking me what "PLAN" I want? I thought these were pre-paid phones?

    • click on the basic plan.it's a one off thing to get ur phone start-up

      • I put the order through with the $79 one… So I need to spend $79 to activate that phone? I didn't understand what it was asking me so I just chose the most expensive one seeing as the phone still came to $59. So I can't use it unless I spend $79 to start it up?

        • No, the SIM has no value, however $5 credit will be yours free if you activate ur SIM online.
So basically you're paying for the phone only. - just got off the phone with online sales.

          • @beerbus: Ah right. That's kind of a relief, I thought I might have screwed up.

  • Cannot find the m610 for $14. :(
    Oh well..

Tempted to see if they've got any in store.

    • sold out.

  • How much does it cost to unlock the USB modem or is it also free after 6 months? I couldn't find it anywhere on the site.

  • so is it possible to use those handsets with ur existing SIM or will you be forced to be locked into a cap/plan etc?

    • Not possible, unlock possible aft 6mths or use some cheats available online….luck mate!

    • If your on the Crazy Johns or Vodafone network then you should have no problem using your existing sim.

      • My simcard is from Exetel and using Vodafone network, sometimes it shows Vodafone sign on screen, but I have to unlock the phone to use my simcard.

        • Damn I was hoping my Exetel sim would work. Which phone did you get?

  • Hi,

I am facing a very naive problem. After selecting the phone and the plan. when I press checkout, it says nothing and takes be again to the cart.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,
    Ferdous

  • With the 6mths free unlock condition is that from the time of purchasing the phone or activating the sim/plan? I want to use it with an existing vodafone sim so may not use the crazy johns sim (at least not for a while).

  • Got 2x LG KC910 this morning - last 2 in store. My vodafone sim works fine in it! yey!

  • LG KC910 looks good. Does anyone have any experience with it? Can you install any general .jar applications on it?
Also, does anyone know if it is somehow possible to unlock it?

  • So if I buy a phone how do I keep my existing number? I'm not fussed because I lost my phone this week and all my contacts bam gone… so I'll be happy with a phone from any network…

    • Tell them (the company you want to do business with) and they will give you a form to fill out to authorise porting the number to them. They will match the phone number with the sim they give you in their system.

  • Just received my 1st M610 (I have another one coming in), it has a bluetooth earpiece in the pack! :) also says free 55$ credit

One of the best 14$ I've spent lately I must say!

    • Wow~~,that is really cool!Hope to get mine very soon:-)

  • +1

Got the M610 today without the headset :( cant get 3 sim card to work on it. why? Virgin one is fine though.

    • Mine doesn't come with bluetooth headset as well. The seal is broken, I guest Crazy Johns just took it out. :(

    • Probably because the M610 isn't a 3G phone?

  • Ordered the renoir online. All fine, credit card billed. Got an email tonight stating due to demand, all sold out and could not offer me phone. Given me offer of replacement of 3 phones, or money back. Not too happy. 3 phones offered instead are LG Optimus, LG star, LG stage, LG pop.

    • I got the same email. Is Optimus inferior to Renoir?

  • Immuno,

What $55 credit are you refering to ? Anyone got the bluetooth headset for the Samsung M610 ?

  • I finally got a LG GU230 for my 14 bucks, as they run out of stock for the Samsung M610. I love this phone, but just hope i can easily unlock it, otherwise it is just completely useless for me :(

    • I also got my LG GU230 last week however I think its going to cost more to unlock it than the original purchase price :( I've checked some of those online unlock sites but they look as dodgey as hell..

      • Agree. I have spent sometime working on it as well. No luck so far. As I have seen people saying "free unlock 6 months after activation of the service",although it is not clear whether you need to recharge a certain amount in that 6 months or not, i will have a try to activate the SIM coming with the phone and wait for 6 months to see whether i can get it unlocked then.
