How many normally can there be?

  • How is this compared to QC35? Is it $130 better?

Been doing research on both for some time now.

Personally lusting after the Sony's but waiting for a price of $450 before I pull the trigger.
The killer feature of the Sony's for me is killing ANC by placing your hand to the right ear cup (don't have to take your cans off if you want to engage in conversation in the office or if you are on a plane and want to hear the announcements etc..)

Rather than type up a tl;dr summary of my review, suggest the following links which, IMHO have given some pretty balanced good reviews of them both:

        tl;dr please!

Have been doing a fair bit of reading to so interested in your take.

A few thoughts, the Sony has a flashing light on the unit to show Bluetooth, might be annoying in a dark room or flight. Sleeping/leaning on your hand may interfere with the controls. Ldac is coming to android o, better sq with the Sony. Comfort I think is down to personal preference but my main worry is the anc performance on a plane. Mixed results.

        • +1

I found ANC performance on the plane to be excellent.

        • @atlas: thanks for the feedback! I should have been clearer, I meant compared to the qc35. Have you tried them?

        • +1

          @911r:
Much muchness for me but keep in mind for me music quality > ANC.

Based on what you said above I would go Bose as my research had shown that almost all the comparison reviews have said QC35 Is better for ANC and comfort. Plus the Bose can connect to two devices simultaneously. So for biz travel seamlessly going from laptop to phone would be a big benefit.

You could cheat and buy both before your next flight… Try them out and return them both when you get back. Then wait for the price to drop on the ones you liked better. ;-)

@911r: yes my wife has the qc35. I couldn't really discern much difference between the two in terms of ANC.

        • @atlas: thanks for the replies @kfuerza and atlas. I have the Bose currently but always tempted by the Sony's, not sure if it's worth the hassle as I only really use them for plane travel. But the added features of the Sony and ldac make me want them!

FWIW, Amazon UK have the Beige for 275 pounds, which converts to $455 so it would be pretty close with a 28 Degrees card

Thanks. Finally I pulled the plug and bought one.

FYI i just bought a set today from the sony store in nanawading for $489, they had 30% off headphones. Maybe you guys can offer to price match it for people.

Have the Sony/qc35 and can say the most difference to me is Sony has slightly more bass that is untuned with no amp.

Qc35 has better sound cancelling then Sony when I used both on the plane. I can hear more cabin noise in Sony then Bose.

    • The Sony has 2 ANC modes. I suspect you may have had it set to the speech cancellation mode, as the plan / train / ambient noise cancelling works on par of better than the Bose.

  • Clearance? Aren't they still a new model?

Sony members had this available at $399 over Christmas

  • Considering this Sony 1000X vs the Sennheiser PXC550 $439 now at HN…which one is better?

  • $399 for Sony X.

How to join Sony X ?

    • damn…any way to get this?

  • Sorry if my question isn't related to this deal, but does anyone know why JB Hifi and Harvey Norman stopped selling those headphones?
I bought some vouchers recently with the discount on qantas store thinking about buying those, but can't find the 1000x anymore from those 2 retailers.

    • I saw this in Melbourne CBD 2 days ago? Where abouts are you?

      • I am in Sydney. Will have a check at my local stores. Thanks for the hint.

    • Jb hi-fi carry them though for some reason they are not on the website. I have sighted them at several stores in QLD

There are good deals on other headphones too. Just ordered a pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones RS165 for $239 usually $349 with RRP of $399.

  • How's comfort when compared to the QC35?
For comparison, I find wearing an ATH M50x for half an hour quite uncomfortable.

    • +4

From reviews and me personally trying them out in store, QC35 is much more comfortable and breathable, whereas the 1000x has slightly stronger clamping force and is a bit on a heavier side.
Both are still better than M50x in terms of comfort.

    • I would say they're not for you, quite a bit heavier than the QC35 and the ATM 50X. I found them to be too heavy and a little loose on my head, I could never quite get used to them so sold them. Also found the ANC to be amazing or very average eg when outside and it was a little windy. Its a shame because i really wanted to love them.

Don't be fooled, this is only about $20 off

If you don't want warranty you can get it a bit cheaper on Amazon

    • +1

We do normally try to be the best value around bit with this sale we took a hit even further to offer the best price with freight and local warranty!

  • One of the terrible headset, very uncomfortable and you wouldn't be able to use it for long.I returned it and got Bose QC35 instead.

  • +1

It is at $490 at Harvey Norman. I grabbed a pair at Alexandria NSW. Still have 4-5 units left.

  • Back on for Anzac day!
