  • Just managed to get through to them. The application process takes a while whilst they verify your acct details etc, plus a back log I guess. Anyway I was beginning to think it was a scam but they knew who I was which is good. They said my account should be fully active in another few days and then they send out the parking card….so people just hang in there it will happen. FYI if you check your credit card statement you'll see a 0.01c charge made by Wilson as part of the verification process.

  • Signed up and sitting on the pending processing page after entering my CC details.

tried to log in but but keep having "Your password is incorrect"

  • +2

Received my card in the mail today. Not sure how to check the credit. Velocity points are supposedly coming in May.

    • +1

Let me know if you figure out how to check the $50 credit. Login to wilson one but can't see it applied to my account.

  • Anyone know if you can use your account to park if you haven't received your card yet?

  • Having to provide my driver's licence number? No thanks

    • I just entered a zero "0" into that field and it allowed me to proceed. Didn't cause any implications with my request getting approved either =)

  • I got an email from Wilson Parking. There are invitations to "Book a Bay" for special events.

I logged into Wilson One, then went to the Wilson Parking website. I don't seem to be logged into Wilson Parking. Do we need a separate log in for Wilson Parking? Can we pay with our Wilson One credit / charge to the Wilson one account?

(Hoping the Rep comes back or someone knows about this)

    • +2

My understanding is that you don't log into Wilson Parking, but within the website you can log into "Book a Bay" or "Wilson One" as two distinct memberships/accounts. You only automatically create a "Book a Bay" account when you first use the service.

  • +1

Their website and process is such a mess.

Despite originally applying when this was posted 3 weeks ago, I'm still waiting for anything to be finalised. When I login it just shows "apply now" and the form to fill in your details, even though I filled that in last week (and it displayed the "in progress" message earlier).

I haven't been called or emailed by them, so called them up this week due to the slow/poor progress and that the date has passed. First I was told my account didn't exist. Then she asked for more details and then said they're still processing, but because my application was in before April 30 I should be fine. She "thinks" they will get done this week.

One of the slowest, most disorganised online experiences just to apply I've seen…

    • Mine was a dog's breakfast too. They did email me for further info which I responded. I also called them for another matter regarding my wife's account. Both times they were quick and knowledgeable (redeeming factor for a crappy website?). It seems ok now BUT somehow I am seeing 2X drivers per account and I'm guessing I'll be receiving 2X cards. No idea why but I'm holding off deleting the redundant accounts until I get the cards. As for the 2x booking mechanisms (Wilson one vs book a day) I have no idea how it's going to work. Almost never use them anyway, only signed up for the points and free credit.

  • Got e-mailed on April 21 that I'd receive my card within 14 business days, so far nothing …

    • Still waiting … 9 May

      • +1

Me too still! Might hassle them if I don't get anything by Monday.

      • I FINALLY got mine today!

  • I received my cards and I also asked Wilson if I get the credit & voucher as it's now May. They confirmed as long as I signed up in April I will definitely get them :)

  • I got a second card today. still no FF points in my account. not sure if both cards have $50 credit on them.

  • My card was waiting when I got in.. Still unclear on how it's used exactly.. Is it preloaded with credit? Do you get special rates? Logged into my account but couldnt see anything of interest in there.

    • I think you use it to enter and leave the car park and they invoice you monthly for the charges

  • Well, I received my 2 cards in the mail last week, I've just logged in, but cannot see evidence of the $50 credit, nor can I see the points accrued on my Virgin Velocity account.

    Anyone experiencing the same?

    • +2

      everyone experiencing the same :)

    • Same here. I think all this crdit& bonus points story is BS. They got our details and CC details. That was all they wanted we got conned in.

    • See here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/302401?page=1#comment-4616…

I'll be waiting until the credit appears before I used my cards. The 2 cards turned up in the mail today.

    • +1

Update: I received the following from Wilson:

      Thank you for your email.

Your credit will appear on your first invoice, so once you get it next month than you will be able to see it.

And as for the Velocity points, they are going to be paid in May.

    • Same. Got 2 cards in the mail now :)
Btw, do we receive an invoice even if we haven't used the service yet?

  • +2

    UPDATE

Credit is now on my account.

Here's how I can see it

    1. Log onto Wilson One
    2. Left hand side - go to Account Details
    3. Invoice and Payment History
    4. There is an entry for a credit note and the amount is -50

There may be other ways to check if you have credit

    • Not showing up on mine … Have you used it before?

      • +1

I haven't used my card yet.

        • I only just got my card on Friday in the post; either my credit will be applied later orrrrr they're not giving it to me since I do have a Book A Bay account …

        • Mine's now showing up

    • +1

Thanks foundit - I can see the $50 credit on mine too.

  • Got my cards and $50 but I still don't quite get how we're meant to use this. I understand it works like a CC (it says that a million times on the welcome pack!!) but how do I reserve space? That seems to be a different account??

    • You use the first available non-reserved space.

      • +1

ok so what's the advantage of this card over using a CC? It says "Skip the queues with your own, personalised ..". what queue am I skipping??

If I can't make a booking with the card what's the point really?

e.g I can book/pay online for say Pyrmont Wilson parking ($14.50) for all day Friday. If I use my card instead (no booking) and park for the same length of time, it'll cost me $38!!! Am I missing something?

        • +1

The queue at the ticket machine to pay for your ticket.

And yeah that's pretty much it. I plan to use mine only on the weekends at one of the car parks where they have earlybird parking for $9

        • +1

          @kerfuffle:

lol… what a ripoff! $25 for the privilege of not spending 15 seconds at the ticket machine. I'll just use up the $50 and bin the card.

        • @gimme: Yeah that's what I plan to do too. You earn more Velocity points through Book A Bay as well (plus the option of earning MyerOne points too)

        • @kerfuffle:
I dont use paid parking much, but occasinally I go to the city for freinds and dinner,
Ill definitely check out a few weekend deals and use it

          better than nothing

  • nothing showing up for me yet

  • Just received the email from Wilson for the invoice and the $50 credit is showing up.

    • Exactly the same for me

      An invoice for - $50

      It's a good start.
Now waiting for velocity points and my actual cards to turn up

      • How can you see credit shown $50? I login to my account and see nothing.

        • I haven't checked online. But did you get an invoice.

        • online>invoices

  • +1

I just got an e-mail with an invoice for -$50 for the new sign up. It says my account will be deducted on the end of the month? What the **? Why would I be getting charged…?

    • +1

Don't take it literally, that's just standard wording. Also mathematically deducting -$50 is actually adding $50 so you're safe.

      • Oh okay, thank god. LOL I was thinking that same thing but the line saying my bank acconut will be deducted put me off a bit.. cheers.

    • Usually when a company sends you an invoice and it's a negative amount, it means they owe you money.

    • are you able to log onto the website?

  • Nowt here

  • Has anyone got their Velocity Points yet? I've got my card but the points are not showing in the Velocity account.

    • Nope

      • Just checked my account and my points were credited on 7 June.

        • My points are still not showing up who should I contact?

        • @redwood:

          I'd start with Wilson Parking.

  • hmm thats annoying. I logged in and i dont have a -50 invoice :(

  • finally got my wilson cards

Igot three, I must have regiterd 3 of them

    • same, so confused why i received 3

  • Has anyone who signed up not received their card(s) in the mail yet?

  • Received two cards, different numbers.

  • Does anyone know how to find the parking rates for Wilson One carparks before using these? You can't use the Wilson One account for their Book a Bay function, so don't want to risk going in to the CBD without first knowing what I'm up for $$ wise!

    • I think it's on the regular Wilson Parking site. Go to that map. Put in the area you want to go to. Click on the different car parks and find possibly widely varying rates and times of operation in sites near each other.

    • +1

I'm gonna assume they're the same rates as when you get a ticket from the machine on the day. I'm going to use the 383 Kent St car park on Sunday (their earlybird parking rate is $9) so will let you guys know what I get charged

    • OK I can confirm that the rates depend on what day and time you enter the car park. The car park I used today (383 Kent St in Sydney) has an earlybird rate on the weekend of $9 and I got charged $9 as I left (unlike Citipark 150 metres down the road which charges $20 for weekend parking with no earlybird).

I found it a bit slow for my liking when exiting. I'll stick to the Book A Bay service.

  • I still dont have the $50 credit or the velocity points.

  • Anyone successfully used a car park with this yet?
Very messy system, cant believe it was approved and released by professional adults.

    • +1

Yep I used it the other night for evening parking, just an easy tap on entry and exit on the paypass screen at the gate, easy as! Saved about $5 cause that's what other evening parking is and I can use it 2 more times before the $50 is up.

      • Good to know, thanks

        • +1

No worries, just look at the prices before you enter because they're quite pricey during the day. I think evening parking is entry after 5pm for $15 and weekend is about the same, probably the best advantage of this deal.

        • @doweyy:
Yeah I am going into the city tomorrow so I found one with a flat weekend rate.
Hopefully I can just tap in and out

        • +1

          @King Tightarse:

Too easy, it's a really simple process, way easier than validating a ticket and stuff. Just hoping they don't stuff up and not continue the credit onto this invoice.

        • @doweyy: Except when the machine doesn't read your card (to be fair, this only happens once every six months or so and an e-mail to Wilson gets it fixed quickly).

Have you checked your statement to see what they've charged you yet?

        • +1

          @kerfuffle:

Oh that's not good then. Yep they charged me $15 as expected and still credit note on file as well.

        • @doweyy: Yeah, but they're pretty prompt at recrediting you if their machines fail (I'm a frequent user of their Book A Bay Service, 98% of the time the machine works and they've upgraded their machines multiple times in the five years I've been using the service so at least they're using the rising car park fees to invest in their systems; parking was $5 for the day five years ago!)

  • +1

Tap in and out worked well.
Bit of a long processing delay at the tap out but other than that easy peasy

    • obviosuly you use those cards that they sent you right?

my one just looks like plastic id card with no chip or stripe

      • Yes, they just sent me the one with a pamphlet showing the differing reader types.
The reader I used was tap-capable and despite there being no visible chip on the card, it is a tap in/tap out type. It worked well.

  • Safe to say no one received their 1000 Velocity points?

I have a Book A Bay account if that makes a difference

    • +2

Same. June now with no points.

  • +1

Got my second invoice ($33 credit remaining), but still no Velocity points :/ Might go enquire on Monday …

  • +1

still no points. sent email asking about them, got no reply.

    • +2

When did you send the e-mail? They only work on weekdays I believe. It takes a business day or two to get a response from them

      • yeah might of been Friday.

  • +3

Just checked my Velocity account, got my 1000 points today.

    • Thanks. I got my 1000 points from Wilson today, as well. (I double checked the transaction date and details)

    • Me too!

Now waiting for the 2 Velocity points per dollar (unless we can't get points on the $50 credit?)

      • +1

Nope, I remember reading in the terms and conditions somewhere that you don't get points on the $50 credit.

        • Thanks!

Back to Book A Bay with the 5 Velocity points per dollar once I use my credit up

  • Success finally

Used the card on the weekend no issues and points posted today

  • Going into the city for Vivid tomorrow.
Pla to use it for first time
I already have the $50 credit statement, so should eb all good.

Just to be sure, is this how the card works ?

As you enter the car park, you press the button to get the entry ticket.
As you exit the car park, insert ticket into payment machine and it tells you the amount owing. Then you use your Wilson One card to insert/tap and the amount will be debited from the card… is that all ?

And its a bummer that you cant book a bay in advance and pay using the Wilson card !
Plan on going into the Clocktower carpark in The Rocks.
Much cheaper than Opera House !

    • +1

Yep that's how it works, OR you can just tap your Wilson card on entry and exit. But make sure that the carpark you're going to offers Wilson One, they're coloured purple on the website I believe.

    • +1

Don't press any button to get a paper ticket. Just tap your card at the machine like it's an access card and do the same when you leave.

      • Thanks & Thanks fellows !
Oh, so thats the difference between the purple and red icons on the carpark locator map !

Seriously, they should fire their IT team !
Get some high schoolers, they would probably do a better job (at lesser pay ?)

On a different note, anyone figured a way of removing your credit card from the payment details section ?

        • So Wilson one care can be used only at those places marked purple in color ?

  • +3

Just a note on how this works for Early Bird, as advised by their CSR:

Enter between 6am and 10am and exit between 2pm and midnight and when you enter you need to take a ticket from the boom gate. You then proceed to level 6 or higher and park in an available unreserved bay. Once you have done that you will see there is an attendant there who will give you a validation ticket, this will help you to bring down the price of your parking when you leave.

Then when you are leaving at night, you just drive up to the boom gate insert your ticket followed by the validation ticket into the ticket slot and use your Wilson One card on the credit reader, the boom gate will then open and you can drive out.

  • User beware. Wilson One card with credit cannot be used in the car park linked to the Harbourside Shopping Centre at Darling Harbour! Went in this afternoon and then was told that they don't take the card!
