18% Discount on Bill (QLD) + $100 Electricity + $100 Gas Bill Credit

As I know, they normally only do $50 bill credit but this time is $100.
These bill credit promotions have disappeared long for Queenslanders.
I found that many retailers (dodo, Energy Australia) stopped these promotions for Queensland home from last year.
However Click Energy only do electricity for Queensland, so I could only get $100 for electricity.
But for other states, could get up to $200 bill credit in total if signing up both electricity and gas.

Their "Daily Supply Charge" & "Usage Charge" of Queensland plan is higher than AGL.
But their 18% discount is for the whole bill while AGL (and most other companies) is on only for usage charge.
For my case, around 900 kWh in 120 days, it is still around $4 cheaper than AGL.

So it surly worth for me to move to them because of the $100 bill credit.

But please note than $100 bill credit is $50 credit to the 1st month bill and $50 to the 12th month bill. (Should be same for Gas)
18% discount is pay on time discount

Tip: make sure you screenshot where you put the promo code in. Some have reported it wasn't honoured.

Also note the discount comes after they're applied solar credits. . So if you have a $200 power bill, but get $50 solar feedin credit, the 18% is off the $150.

    But $50 now & $50 in 12mths is good.

  • how's their customer service like?
are their rate competitive at all? I'm with Simply in VIC

  • I just signed with these guys last week on 28% electricity and 13% gas discount. Need to pay on time and by direct debit.
Works out a bit cheaper than agl. They have higher rates but greater discounts.
Mention one big switch and they will beat it. It's currently 25% discount

    • 28% discount for life ? Really ?

      • I'm in NSW though so prices are different.

I signed up last time they had the deal back in late Nov last year. The $100 discount was not honoured. Customer service was pathetic and ended up switching back to Origin. No regrets on switching back as Origin is 100x better to deal with than this bunch!

I was with them 3 yrs ago. That time was $50 discount. I got it but the following year, they charged me $100 extra on my bill. I called customer service to ask for explanation but they asked me to read the contract, everything was there and hang up. I got confused the bill and fed up with their customer service, I just cancelled and join powershops.

Thanks for the feedback, i'll take this into account when weighing up a switch.

It sounds like their business model is defrauding people.

I have the same experience last November. After seeing the post from oz bargain , switched to click. Custumer care was a nightmare and switched back to origin. after 3 months. What I understood was they charge more and give some discout.
Note that prior to this i was a click qld customer from 2012 to 2015.

    click energy, powered by viagra.

  • Been a Click customer since 2016 and never looked back! Don't forget guys, the discount applies to daily supply usage and your usage consumption and their discount never expires!

  • Anyone on the Gold Coast use them? They cheapest company I can find for my area of 4221 is DODO

    • I'm in NSW and signed onto dodo. Their discount was better percentage wise but upon comparing the usage and daily rates, they were a lot more expensive. I only signed over for the one billing period as I managed to secure $280 credit from them. Signed back over to origin now who beat dodo's discount plus gave me another $100 credit.
Scenario should be similar in QLD. I only left QLD (4122) a year ago and was on origin there. They'd beat any competitors rate even while I was sill their customer. Just had to call through and tell them what competitors offer was and they'd match it straight away.

      • I'll look into it

Did a quick calculation for energex qld hopefully no errors… But I suppose solar credits would mess this up.

    • energy aus:
16% off usage charges (before gst)
Peak rate with discount: 21.82488c including GST
daily supply charge: $1.287 including GST

total for 16KW per day over 90 days = $430.108272 incl GST

    • click opal:
18% off usage and supply charges (before gst)
Peak rate with discount: 22.988372c including GST
daily supply charge with discount: $1.10267696 including GST

total for 16KW per day over 90 days = $430.2734832 incl GST

    • dodo:
15% off usage charges (before gst)
Peak rate with discount: 22.066c including GST
daily supply charge: $1.2771 including GST

total for 16KW per day over 90 days = $432.6894 incl GST

    • AGL set and forget:
12% off usage charges (before gst)
Peak rate with discount: 23.82248c including GST
daily supply charge: $1.08361 including GST

total for 16KW per day over 90 days = $440.568612 incl GST

So with a $100 welcome credit 'click opal' would be pretty good. Why do they have so many obsolete-looking plans at click? e.g. click connect and click easy are only 7% off and just not good value.

    • Great work musicinbed69 but you forgot Origin. They give up to 16% off electricity usage (not daily supply charge).
      Not sure about their tariff.

      • I can't really find a 16% off for origin energex QLD. Just 10% with Maximiser. Should I be looking elsewhere?

        • Origin Maximiser:
10% off usage charges (before gst)
Peak rate with discount: 23.0274c including GST
daily supply charge: $1.28117 including GST

total for 16KW per day over 90 days = $446.89986 incl GST

They only offer you their best discount after you have switched to another supplier during the cooling off period to get you back.
Had a look at click energy…they have 10 different plans. Is the 18% discount only for the opal? Is opal their best value plan?
Discount also on supply charge is really good if you are a low user.
EDIT according to my quick calculation and apliying 16% off to the origin usage tariff, the click opal is better if you use less than 12 kw per day. At 12 kw/day they are even. Over 12kw/day origin is cheaper even though they give you no discount on supply charge.
This does not factor in the $100 credit.

      • Origin now gives 18% discount on electricity usage in QLD. Just have to mention you are thinking of switching. If you bargain hard, you can get it up to 22-24% for 12 months (no lock-in contract).

        • Wow that is a great discount.
What did you do to get 24% discount?

        • @maxi: 18% is standard now (they offered it when I mentioned that I got a call from their retention team!). If you can convince them switching even with 18% will save you money based on your usage they will increase the discount a bit more. One of my friends got 24% (I'm on 18%).

  • Looks like a good deal but not for me with my usage, which is better with TruEnergy. You must compare the costs of the electricity, not just the discount. Click's costs are 10% higher than TruEnergy for peak and 40% higher for offpeak. In Click's case their daily supply charge is much lower at $0.05 compared to $1.28 with TruEnergy but as I'm a big electricity user this is outweighed by the higher electricity costs. (TruEnergy offer 16% discount compared with the 18% for Click).

EDIT: By TruEnergy I mean Energy Australia (changed their name but I remember them by the old)
EDIT2: Misread Click's daily supply charge, which is actually higher than TruEnergy's - Click is definitely not worth it for me.

    • Yes. Especially your have peak and off-peak meters.

  • Just bear in mind that most of the energy providers have ability to provide more discounting than what their webpages mention. When I last tried to shift to a different provider because of an 18% discount, suddenly my current provider increased their discount from 12 to 18% (and then it was a matter of which was better - a lower fixed charge or a lower usage charge).

    • Yes.

When last time I was changing out of Energy Australia, they called me to confirm I want to leave and tried to offer me a better deal. At that time dodo was giving me 16% and $120 credit but they can't match that. They can only increase the discount from 12% to 14% and no credits.

One of my friend has been offered $50 credit by AGL.

  • I ended up getting Origin calling me one day

Offered me a 19% discount pay on time, direct debit plus $100 off my first bill
    no complaints from me

    Located Northside Brisbane QLD

    • +1

      How can you get that?

      • Just rang me offering it
        Currently with AGL
        give them a call

        • I did this arvo - guy said he hadn't heard of it. Was it recently?

        • @sudapha

They called me and offered it to me however agl countered and offered me 21%

  • Im with click and they are great, as above i rang them they gave us the 19% discount. We get a interim bill monthly then the main bill on the qtr. keeps the costs really low oh and the best part is no contract or lock in times

  • Not as good as energy australia. Based on my usage, I will save $20 a quarter to be with Energy Australia.

    • Any chance that you can tell me/us your usage and plan? Thanks. And I forgot you could be in other states : )

      • I am in QLD. I get 14% pay on time discount on usage from Energy Aus. ALthough the discount rate is lower, the unit price and daily supply charges are much cheaper than Click Energy.

It is just a normal plan. I only have one peak tariff no solar.
