  • Only shows flights to Brisbane from Sydney for me.
    From $59 one way.

    • It has Sydney selected in your screenshot, select Brisbane to see the Brisbane fares (or other cities).

      • I tried to fix that, if anyone else can go for it

  • I usually keep track of this link:
    http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/deals

But that doesn't show the deals from your link:
    http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/friday-fare-frenzy

    I didn't know that.

Can someone in the know please list the links i should check, and when, for both Tiger and Jetstar?

The only Tiger link of interest i know about is as follows, though i'm never completely sure when i should check it.
    https://tigerair.com.au/deals

    • Yes something is up with Jetstar's site. I only found out about this deal via an update to a booking I have from Sydney with Jetstar, but then couldn't get to the whole deal (hence my link only shows ex Sydney, you have to change departure point to get all the Weekend offers.

Shhh…no one else knows about this yet!

  • I don't get it. I've had my eye on Jetstar NTL - MEL for a while now and the price is identical to what it has been ($65)

Edit: Oh the only Newcastle deal is to Brisbane?

    • This isn't unusual unfortunately. Jetstar doesn't compete as much on popular routes, especially those that aren't serviced by Tiger. (Update: OK, I misunderstood the question…).

But one thing I found really helps is that "Watch Prices" button on Jetstar when you make a search. They'll send you an e-mail alert when a flight reaches your target price (in your case, say $64).

  • If a Brisbanite backpacker wants to visit Bali late-May to early-June then this could be a good excuse to visit Darwin for a much cheaper connecting flight. Though the returning flights are at crazy hours of the night…

    • Or go Timor Leste.

      • Have you actually been?! I imagine they never have deals there from Australia though.

Ironically, from Darwin it's probably even cheaper to fly into West Timor via Bali with Air Garuda etc and bus it overland (though I believe you'll need a visa, maybe even each way, defeating the time and money equations).

        • Yes been to Timor-Leste.

It is not cheaper to go via Bali and Kupang and timewise not worth it. It would also require getting a visa in Kupang or before you leave, as they are not available at the Indonesian border.

I went last Easter (2016) long weekend.
