warning if you flying single, they will put you with accomodation with another passenger overnight in Xiamen (unless you pay about CND$20-30 for your own room)

Could be fun is you are single

      • +1

        i meant CNY not CND

        • +3

About $6-7, which is still a good deal

          "CNY"

          When is Chinese New Year?

      • -1

can I pay $30 to chose another passenger to share with?

        Hello Diddy

      • No Daddy no!

        • Yes Daddy YEsssss! Right there, yesss!

    • +5

      Which is like $10 LOL

Unless you want that, imagine being that stingy.

      • lmao

More importantly, imagine an airline thinking this is acceptable. Makes you wonder about the airline in general.

don't be surprised with ozbargainers. i already saw someone wanting 1 battery, and wanted to split a 4 pack on here.

Hopefully the other passenger is hot and sexy

I am looking for a good conversation. And maybe bit of hanky panky.

      • -1

I'd be hoping they're not violent, an organ trafficker, a thief, caring some disease or going to slip something into your luggage making you an unsuspecting drug mule.

Like seriously wtf is wrong with this airline? There's budget, then this trash.

        • +1

You wouldn't have your luggage, I doubt an organ trafficker is flying basic economy and I think its probably cultural that. this is acceptable. Its actually not a budget airline. They won't force it on you, you dont even have to take a room at all! And if you do want to, as others have said, you can pay around $25 to have your own room :)

        • I mean, seriously?

    • it would be around 100-150 RMB = 25-35 AUD to upgrade.

    • I thought the upgrade to own room was more like $30… but cant remember exactly. They put you on a bus to the hotel and you need to find your own way back in the morning (about 25mins taxi).

      • -1

need to find your own way back in the morning (about 25mins taxi).

Do they also ask you to chip in for gas at the airport for the plane before it takes off? What a joke.

        • To be honest I think they do this more for logistical reasons more than being tight.
Many years ago when I transited in Wuhan I got my timezone wrong so my alarm didnt go off. At the time they had return transfers organised by the airline and there was a guy whos job it was to get me up and organised so I didnt miss the flight. I guess they just made this the responsibility of the individual instead….. which is fair…

          • @pointnlarf: I wouldn't expect a personalised wake up door knock. But a shuttle bus voucher to the airport I certainly would expect.

            • @PainToad: That's fair. Surely they could use the transit bus that gets people to the hotel to return them to the airport…. would literally cost them nothing more…Even if the times werent perfect it could still be a viable option for most. Was specifically stated that you had to make the return transit on you own…. no buses available…

    • Echo this comment. The single extra is about 200CNY (around $50 AUD) and its hotel specific. You deal with the hotel directly to pay the extra charges and each hotel is different.

    I want Xiaomi Air!

  • Any cheap flights to China for December?

  • Where to/from?

    • Taiwan

    • Sorry, from Melbourne

  • Has anyone flown with Xiamen air before? How's the level of service/safety?

    • been around for 40 years.. looks pretty good. owned by China Southern. 174 planes

    • Yes, was pre COVID, but very new planes (787, IIRC) with free WiFi, if you signed up for it. Though you got Chinese internet even before entering China.

I didn't have any issues with the flight, baggage or stopover.

    • Regularly (just got back last month) both Cattle and business class and always stopover in Xiamen when travelling to other china cities.
Cattle seats feel a little smaller than some of the others like China Southern.

Services are good (if you can speak chinese, english some of the attendant may find it hard to understand, and maybe i was travelling with a disabled person), international flights have both chinese and western cuisine but fairly average, you get what you pay for. They are also very strict on powerbanks. Luggage was average at 23kgs but they dont mind if u go over 1-2kgs
