I am supremely confident and these are 100% original……not.

  • is this an old design or model?

Yeah these are fake, not that there will be much of a sound difference anyway lol…

    • Is it even legal to sell fake, when it is shown as a name brand, in Australia?

I can understand eBay, or some dodgy sellers somewhere in your local store, but groupon? Surely if it is fake, they will be sued in no time?

      Just wondering.

      • I guess it's sort of in a grey area… and Groupon (in the Goods section) simply sells whatever a supplier supplies, they honestly don't care if it's genuine or not.
It's also very hard to differentiate between real and fake Beats (if there's a way at all), and that's why fakes are so common.

        • It's also very hard to differentiate between real and fake Beats

Surely sound quality would give it away?

        • @AlexF:
Have you ever listened to fake Beats? You'd be surprised ;)

        • Yeah, genuine Beats and fake Beats are basically the same thing.

I bought one and it came with a "hTC" tag as well. After research I found that previous couple of models of HTC phones used to ship with these Beats in-ear headphones. I think they are selling the remaining stock through this channel. Btw, build quality and sound quality are good.

read the whole ad and nowhere does it state its GENUINE, so if you buy these then buyer beware..

"Please note: Product provided without retail packaging" One word: Dodgy

Steer clear of buying branded products from Groupon, they have no problems supporting the counterfeit market. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/293155

Customer service will simply quote their return policy when asked whether the products are genuine.

  • What is the return policy should these be fakes? Anyone know?

    • They pay for return. Or in my case, find out after the return deadline —> keep item + get a refund. Ended up buying another genuine so not worth the hassle had I known beforehand.

  • isnt it illegal to ship counterfeit items?

    • Reported them to Accc / fair trading, never got a reply.

  • Must be a genuine Beats product, the sound quality sucks as always and also overpriced.

  • Sounds like they were taken out of mobile boxes to be sold separately or HTC provided leftover stock to a third party to sell, hence why they would come in a sealed plastic rather than retail packaging. A lack of retail packaging doesn't automatically mean fake.

Having said that, I wouldn't be expecting great sound quality from genuine versions either.

    • Looking at them earlier, they did look different to the urbeats being sold anywhere else. They do look like the ones given with the HTCs though.

Beats have such rubbish sound, it'd be hard to work out if it's fake or not.

  • Please dont bother . The build quality of these earphone are terrible mine broke in not even 6 moths.

Get a nice $20 pair of Original Xiaomi Hybrid… the Quality is there and they sound AMAZING!!!

  • $39 with new accounts (not previously purchased), using code BUY2DAY.

  • Dodgy deal no way would anyone buy these

  • These look like iBeats that came with HTC phones 4-5 years ago
