    Affordable Laptops & $2229

    how is that even Affordable?

    • +11

How is that comment helpful? It is a high end GAMING laptop, take your smart arse trolling somewhere else. 1070 models are usually around $3k.

        • +3

You been trolling enough today, give it a rest.

        • +2

Oh look what SCA is selling Scrubber

        • If you look at the rest of the site they actually sell laptops of all budgets, including what you would call "affordable".

This deal is actually relatively affordable for someone looking for a laptop with a GTX 1070. Like someone else has said, they usually go for much more.

        • @jeefbeef: If you look closer, they don't sell a single laptop under $1000.

        • +2

It's a fair complaint. They call themselves Affordable Laptops, but they don't sell a single laptop under $1k.

        • Arguably for the specs, it is a lot more "affordable" than an equivalent Alienware or RoG..

    • that is what i was thinking on the last post made on here
      not even rrp listed lol

      • You're worse off having seen the RRP since it automatically and unconsciously manipulates your perception of value.

    • Affordable to plenty of people, $2000-2500 used to buy a mid range laptop, this is a high end laptop. Mid range laptops are now around $1000-1500, and cheap ones <$1000…how is it not affordable?

affordable laptops that i cant afford :(

  • Just a quick note, Affordable Laptop site says this:

"The NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX 1070 8GB Pascal series. NVIDIA's technology includes their PhysX which brings games to life with dynamic in-game interaction and as well as Optimus™ graphics switching. NVIDIA's Optimus Technology seamlessly calculates how best to optimise your notebooks battery by intelligently fast-switching between Intel's new integrated graphics and the GTX 1070 graphics card."

Note: that Optimus and G-Sync is not compatible you only get either not both, since the screen is G-Sync you only get that no Optimus.

"Q: Does G-SYNC work with Optimus technology?
A: G-SYNC currently does not work with Optimus technology."

    Ref: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/g-sync/faq

    • FWIW Optimus is a piece of shit and I'm glad it's not supported for G-Sync (to get rid of it)

It's a pain in the ass that never works properly, had numerous laptops with Optimus causing issues where it would force Integrated graphics while playing games instead of using the actual graphics card.

      • I agree.. So painful to find your game running slow as crap because it is using the Integrated Graphics.

Metabox supports both optimus and gsync via a bios switch but only 1 can be active at a time.

      • This I did not know. Cheers for the info.

  • hi guys please note that i have this laptop and it does not have 4 RAM slots only 2 RAM slots.

      Hi bamsegod,

I've bought the previous version of this laptop P670RS-G back in January this year,

There are 4 memory slots available on this laptop , however 2 of them are under the keyboard which is a bit of pain to get to.

Have a look at this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh8i4LSmUIQ it talks about P650 which is just a smaller chasis version :)

      Cheers,

      • aha that's what it is then… i asked the question to the guys at Kong (the company i bought from) but had no answer. cheers

10 years ago people were spending this kind of money for run of the mill laptops.

    • +1

Now you are effectively getting the 2nd best single GPU Laptop available. That's impressive in my eyes.

      • how nice of a deal would it be if it was 2000 delivered

  • +2

good price, I've dealt with the company before and rate them.

  • Is there a laptop version of the 1080 available? Never went for the x60 or x70.

  • This laptops a beast. Does anyone know how many concurrent screens you can have running off this. I know the 1070 can run 4, but does this laptop support 4 connections, or would you need to daisychain DP monitors?

    • Replying to myself, another page says it does indeed run 4 active displays, and has 2xDP and 1xHDMI ports. Nice.

I WOULD NOT recommend a Metabox to anyone. I bought last year's model of this (17") and the VRM blew up within 9 months. Had to send the unit back to Perth to get fixed (3 weeks), only to find that Metabox wanted to charge me extra freight because I did not use the original box/packaging to send it back.

I've never had any laptop die on me in 9 months before in the past 20 years (I've bought many on all brands and sizes). Not to mention asking me to pay freight because I did not keep the original box to send back to them. Absolute joke.

    • +2

I WOULD recommend Metabox as my P150EM is still going strong after 4+ years. Metabox/Affordable Laptops are meticulous about their laptops and I think it's fair enough that they expect it to be packaged properly, regardless of if you think to the contrary.

      • Actually, I am only describing my experience and my recommendation. No need to downvote me.

My laptop was packaged properly - why would I not considering I've got more at stake with getting it fixed than it is for Metabox? The only problem was, the box was about 10cm wider than the original. In fact, to protect it, I even double boxed it to package it properly so that it will not be damaged any further on the journey. The fact they asked me for money goes against all Australian Warranty laws set out by the ACCC that the original packaging is required for warranty purposes.

  • Any reason why this doesn't have a newer Skylake processor?

    • My bad Kaby Lake is the latest. 😂
