  • Goddam that is getting close to the lowball price I'm trying on eBay ATM. Great price … very close to buying it but I'll wait ;D

    • +1

      Low ballers are scum

      • I take it you've been low balled?

  • +7

Great price, shame there's no local warranty.

  • +2

Haven't heard much about PNY, opinions?

  • fark,cheaper than my 1070

Arrr GTX ! Gtx is better than Rx. Gtx is big ones so they say any. I think so

    • +4

      What the actual….

Just had a look at some of your previous comments in other posts. Not one of them made sense. Funny though!!!

  • +1

Well, you know what Thomas Jefferson once said - YOLO!
    Bought one.
If only there was a proper cashback scheme for amazon though.

  • +1

I'm tempted, but my GTX970 is still working fine for my 1440p monitor.

I'll wait for maybe 1-2 more generations.

    • I had to upgrade my 970 to a 1080, wasn't cutting it in Titanfall 2 or other new titles.

      • Oh, I remember now. I haven't played any recent AAA games yet. Hahahaha.

  • I paid this much for a 1070 2-3 months ago :(

    • broke the ozbargain rule there, always wait

      • +15

Always wait, and never ever end up buying anything.

        • The longer you wait the cheaper it gets.

        • +1

Until you die and eventually you pay $0. Ultimate bargain!

I had no idea PNY made video cards….

That's my public, unsolicited 2 cents for the day.

First purchase for my Bankwest card, thanks! I should probably build a desktop now though.

  • +3

So tempting to get one of these. Must…..hold…..out….for…..Vega

    • why? you know its gonna be shit …. you'll wait months only to find out its as good as this card for this price …

      • Nah, all the GPU prices will fall, the question is: by how much?

      • Exactly @ItsMeAgro. Worst case scenario Vega is not quiet as good as a 1080 but its price is half the price of it, Nvidia will have to drop the price otherwise lose sales. I would probably still buy Vega if it was a lot better value. Possibly a similar case to Ryzen and Intel

        • +3

You really think that's the worst case scenario?

        • @Diji1: We shall see. I have all fingers and toes crossed for AMD

  • I think the free game promotion runs till 8th of May in Australia.
    Registered one lastnight.

  • Do they send the game redemption code electronically, or does it only ship with the game?

I assume the former otherwise there probably wouldn't be enough time to receive it and redeem it considering the international shipping.

    • +1

The codes don't expire until at least the end of June (some manufacturers are saying August, maybe it's been extended again), but they'll require you to have an eligible card installed in the system at the point of redemption, so you won't be able to redeem it until you have the card anyway.

Hey does anyone know or have experience regarding warranties when purchased overseas like this?

Im really keen but im nervous about the warranty situation.

I assume warranty with PYN still stand for the 3 years but i would be responsible for shipping to wherever the nearest repair centre is?

Of course that could be USA or something.

    Just curious, thanks.

I thought PNY made USB flash drives only :D

  • Wow amazing price got one! Hopefully I can sell my GTX 770 on eBay and make some of the $ back..

  • Did you guys get EUR 410,63 (AUD 621.79) at checkout?

    • +1

yep but 410.63 EUR is AUD 597.5. Pay in Euros if you have international fee Credit Card, otherwise it will cost you more.

    • Yea, same. Even though it says $621.79 AUD, it charged me $599 AUD

A review of this card as our old friend toms hardware site yielded the following interesting information for those of who are concerned about fan noise (comparing it to those cards that can stop the fan when the card is idle) :

PNY doesn't arm this card with a semi-passive mode. Instead, the fan spins at a minimum ~33% duty cycle, or around 1100 RPM, even at idle. This isn't annoying in any way, though our 32 dB(A) reading is certainly audible.

A noise level of 37.7 dB(A) under full load isn't exactly quiet. But due to the character of the sound, which can be described as white noise thanks to its high-frequency elements, the resulting noise isn't intrusive. In fact, cases with sound insulation should be able to block most of it out. In the end, PNY's solution is definitely better than Nvidia's reference design.

Those motor and bearing noises registering in the low-frequency spectrum are a tell-tale sign that PNY is using inexpensive fans.

    • Just go make a custom fan speed profile if it bothers you.

There is a reason so many 1080's are going cheap and when you have a console coming out with a 12gb GPU capable of 4k @ 60fps its safe to assume that the next gen from ati and nvidia is going to be a fair step up . All IMO of course but waiting for the next gen on this occasion seems like the smarter choice .

    • Consoles are outdated technology on launch mate, not going to push the GPU manufacturers to step up their game for PC GPUs. Not to mention the jump from the 900-1000 series was the biggest in a long, long time - the jump from 1000-1100 series definitely won't be as big. This is the perfect generation to buy into for most users.

    • Nvidias 1000 series and AMDs Vega series is on the 16nm / 14nm, PS4 and XBox One was on the 28nm process. PCs are at the big leap now and Scorpio will be catching up to high end graphics cards now.

Also Scorpio doesn't have a 12GB GPU, its a 12GB console. Same as if youe PC has 8GB system RAM and 4GB GPU.

      • most likely going to be 6GB RAM/6GB VRAM split for most games, as the XB1/PS4 was 4/4 for most titles.

        • +1

On the XBox and PS4 the OS took 3 to 3.5GB with the rest split how developers felt. Developers didn't exactly release how they split their RAM utilisation.

  • good price but the fans…

  • Bought it but the payment hasn't gone through yet. Only a small pending payment from fr Amazon??

    • +1

Amazon only charges you after the item ships.

      • Awesome thanks for that.

  • Just got my card today, the metal bracket was bent… wondering if anyone had the same problem

    • Got mine today, will let you know when I'm home from work. The box was not in the best condition.

      • Yeah same, the box was pretty beaten up. I bent the GPU bracket back into shape with some pliers. Seems to be working fine for now… Below are some benchmarks if anyone is interested.

        Fire Strike
        Fire Strike Ultra

        • Mine works perfectly, forgot to respond. Nothing was bent luckily. I tried to register the free code and i code invalid code error!

  • Cancelled my order as they said it'll arrive mid june! Better of waiting for something else.
