  • Price in title. Seller in title. And is there sufficient stock of these to post?

None of those are a sufficient reason to neg. Use report button for them. Check the posting guidelines

I hope you know this is the first generation ipad… it's already been denoted as a Vintage model. 2nd gen, released in 2011.

    • Front camera

  • its ipad 2 that what it says on the website

FYI, refurbished Apple products selling on sites other than from Apple may not be refurbished by apple, it's usually a 3rd party that does it.

Apple refurbs are much more comprehensive — they replace failling buttons and scratched displays and replace the battery if it no longer holds a decent charge.

A 3rd party refurb might be just giving the device a wipe with a cloth and putting it nicely back into a box. It'd cost too much to have anything replaced with genuine parts.

This also applies to 'refurbs' at shops like EB Games — their definition 'refurbished' is just a nice way of stating a used traded-in product is cleaned up and put up for sale again.

    • i don't understand the + votes on 'deal' making it to front
ipad 3 and 4 are at this price on ebay of all places,
and ipad 2 mostly same or less everywhere

    Oh. Dear.

  • +4

    Crap deal lol

These are way to slow now. Worth about $50-$75 tops.

  • 132ppi. You could get a decent cheapie from Banggood or Gearbest for that price.

As an owner of an iPad2, I wouldn't even recommend one of these for my mother! I've wiped mine completely and even with the factory reset, the iOS makes it as slow as a… umm… something that's really slow.

    • How so? The 3 has identical specs plus the Touch ID.

      • +1

        You mean retina display?

        • +1

@zuccs: Uhhh this is about the iPad 2, not the iPad mini 2….

        • @Halsmich: Uhh, ignore me, haha. My OzBargain alert mislead me. Thanks for your correct comment :)

      • FWIW, my iPad 3 is still going strong. I would never buy a 2nd generation model though. The screen sucks by comparison.

    • Mine is slower than Forest Gump to open and load apps and launch the keyboard and browser. Runs fine once everything is open, but getting there…

    • When u say wipe do u mean restore to original ios? How do I do that?

      • Get one that has never been updated above said IOS. Only way to stop the forced slowdown imposed by Apple.

        • Ok no luck then. Our ipad 2 is updated to v6 ios :( How I wish I can just restore the thing to its original os and at least I can use it like what I could when we bought it.

        • @jeeg:

I find ipad 2 runs fine on IOS 6.1.3. Maybe you have some other problem.

        • @rifter: sorry my mistake. I just checked our ipad. It was running v9.1 (13B143). Too late I know.

      • There are hacks to get back to a lower IOS version, but they seem tricky. Never done it myself.

        • Only works if you stored your IOS "blobs" way back at IOS 4. Most have not done this.

        • @rifter: I was pretty sure that on certain older devices, you do not have to have saved your shsh blobs. There are other attacks that allow you to downgrade. Again, googling this stuff is annoying/hard and I did not find a good guide, so I can't say that I've done it.

lol, I like how the site says "choose quantity" like you would choose more than one even if you were desperate

  • good as a photoframe and game pad for kids, but even kid games are increasingly not supported by this gen of device

Not worth the price for general use

    $219for ipad 2 is a bargain? Serious?

  • +2

This is an absolutely awful deal. An ancient, six year old iPad, abandoned by Apple, incompatible with many newer apps, slow as hell, and with rubbish specs. I wouldn't pay half that.

  • +3

these i pads are so slow now they cant even handle typing without lag, serious

  • +6

Suitable as backlit chopping board, nothing more.

    • And when the food is front-lit, who needs the backlighting!

  • Great farewell gift for that 'special' workmate in the office you actually hate.
When it comes to collection time aim for those Apple Fanboys as they will have an uncontrollable urge to open their wallets and hand over the lobsters and pineapples when you mention the words 'Apple iPad'.
Also make sure you also take enough time to bask in your evilness (along with sly head nods and smiles) when accepting 5c, 10c, and 20c pieces from the android users who know exactly what you are doing.

I bought an Ipad 2 16GB brand new 5 years ago from Dicksmith for $250. This deal is so ridiculously stupid that the poster deserves to be banned.

    • +2

      Easy there Tiger.
He has the L Plates on and he has been given enough feedback that in the words of my 3yr old this deal is "POO POO"

  • Agreed.
The third gen is much better, but still not worth this price.

  • +1

Use mine as a glorified Sonos remote, its too slow for anything else! Can't even run the latest version because the iOS version is too old.

  • Mines used for white noise.
I also upgraded from my iPad 3 at Xmas as it's too slow.
No way I'd pay for an iPad 2.

  • +1

    lol
    you've.got.to.be.kidding…

  • Be aware that there will be apps in the app store that won't be compatible with this. I have an iPad 3 and am getting "not compatible with this device" messages for a number of apps now.

As someone who used an iPad Mini (which has the same internal chip aka the "A5 Chip") from 2012 to 2016, I cannot recommend this to anyone.

A5 cant handle basic tasks. Unless you are expecting a massive 5 second delay when typing (say you typed google on the keyboard, ipad would freeze and after 5 seconds, it would just type by itself.) or multiple app crashes (most likely due to the 512mb RAM), you are not gonna like it.

Web browsing experience is painful, youtube also crashes often, and overall experience is equivalent to using a 10 year old PC.

What Im trying to say is if u set ur expectation low enough, u might find it useful…. BUT!

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying a used one instead. Use gumtree or ebay and you should be able to pick one up for 100 bucks.

or even better, buy an iPad Air or iPad mini 2. Did a quick search on this site and I could fine multiple deals for about $400 (most are expired but that doesnt mean new deals wont show up.)

P.S. One of the reasons why I upgraded was because iPad 2/mini doesnt receive any new updates anymore which means some apps wont run. So unless you plan to use it for a short period of time, stay away.
