Samsung Galaxy S5 White $209.70 Delivered @ The Co-Op ($25 Membership Required)

1510

Thanks to the previous deal for the S7 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304916

Co-Op have taken down all the sold out phones from their Samsung sale, and the only one that remains is the Galaxy S5 white, for what seems to be an excellent price.

Some people have had bad experiences with Co-Op in the past - not receiving items and then not being able to get a refund on the membership fee. If you do not have a membership yet - be warned. If you already have a membership - good luck!

    Oh no, not again.

Pretending both prices are not pricing errors, the S7 price was absolutely awesome.. but this one is a bit meh to be honest..

edit: OH $209?! Ok that's not bad. Sorry thought I saw $299!

edit 2: In fact even at $299 it seems like it's not bad.

will not be shipped, it will be a price error
you can buy one from ebay and actually get it for AU $274.55…

    i would neg this, but I cant…….

  • Has Co Op taken over OZB? Why do we see so many deals from them and so many neg about orders will be cancelled but membership fee isn't refundable?

    • In the Samsung thread, a recent post cites Co-op as promising that refunds will include the membership fee.

      • +1

        its probably a lie.

        • Maybe. Certainly people would have a strong legal claim to be refunded an amount that included the fee, on the basis that they were induced to pay it in order to buy an item out of stock.

        • @strangeloops66:
there's 2 different items they purchased,
          1. phone which is not in stock or a price error, this will be cancelled.
          2. membership to a club, the membership will be valid to the club

I spoke to Co-op shop just now. They have advised that these prices are not pricing errors and they have already shipped a lot of orders received yesterday.

I (profanity) hate Coop. They seem to set up exclusive deals with university of melbourne, and stock about 3 small shelves of stationary and 100 shelves of bobbleheads and other (profanity) nonsense.

These scammers keep ongoing. They entice with great deals that will never be honoured but get $25 per membership.

  • +3

why are you posting this again???

    • +1

I already have a membership, and am not afraid of having an order cancelled.

I edited the OP to mention the previous issues.

Please change the title to ($25 Membership Required, NON-REFUNDABLE)

In the Samsung thread, a recent post cites Co-op as promising that refunds will include the membership fee.

      • Can confirm, received an email

However, given that your order components are not available, in this special circumstance, we are more than happy to offer a membership refund. So, if you would like a refund, please let us know.

Co-op has found a good way to get every Ozbargainer membershipped.

    Scam

  • I thought OzBargainers knew better; I was wrong. How can anyone fall for this scam over and over again, knowing the way this mob deceived many people in that infamous Fitbit deal a while ago?

    • I bought a Garmin instead of the fitbit and got my item. I bought $5 Xbox one games and got 3 of 4 items.

      You have to be quick.

Fyi some good tom tom active wear deals at the moment.

Hi everyone, I'm the poster of the original fitbit deal from Co-Op.

They aren't a scam site, many people got their fitbits. Many didn't.

If you use these following rule your order should be okay:

    • Don't put in an order if it does not show as in-stock once in your cart.

These are obviously clearance stock, hence the amazing price.

Their system is garbage and doesn't stop you from ordering for clearance stock that is out of stock.

They won't go and get stock for you if that is the case.

As long as you get your order in whilst the item is still in-stock you should be very confident in getting the item.

But if you want to avoid this site all together and miss out on deals then it leaves more for the rest of us.

While I don't condone scams etc, how can we slam these guys compared to:
    Click frenzy
    Catch of the day
Dell (on their super special days)
E-tailors on EBAY with the 20% off specials having no stock 2 mins after it goes live.

    And of course: Costco

I say, it's luck of the draw of the major specials, and if you register and get some of the other stuff all well and good.

Good luck OZB community - these types of sales are truely what we are all about.

    gets off soapbox

    • +2

They have no Membership fee excluding Costco. That's how.

      • Fair enough - though the Catch of the day has the Club thing now too for a paid fee. - the rest yes no fees.

  • Scam..

Phone can't be added to cart anymore - I'm marking as expired.

  • Scam don't be fooled

  • SCAM

  • MACS

I would suggest that this store be banned, if OZB'ers generate interest and discussion - then it only helps with the store's marketing and PR … if the store wants traffic and volume on their site, then they need to learn that they can't pull these types of stunts … and get away with it.

    Just my 2c

    Wait … a true OZB'er would only offer 1c …

Time for a ban of this store.
