The fastest virus, spyware, Internet protection. Strong on protection, light on system resources.

Norton Internet Security 2010 builds on the immense progress it made in last year's version, maintaining a low system profile while strengthening its security framework.

Works with Windows XP, Windows Vista & Windows 7

We have had a few people ask if it is a retail pack or OEM. This is OEM product and as per Symantec's Licensing, you will receive a hardware peripheral along with the software, so it is not breaking any licensing requirements.

How much is postage? Please put it here, prominently on your site or show it in the cart without having us to log in. ….unless you want us all to make fake accounts to find out what it is.

    Norton no thanks.

  • Thanks for feedback. Just updated the deal to indicate postage.

  • How long is the protection for? 12 months??

  • Hi Yes its 12 month protection.

  • Tried this for 60 day trial with new PC then gave up. Switched to full AVG version then realised how fast my new computer was. Norton is very resource hungry. Good price though so a neutral from me.

Nice deal for a product you don't need when other products - inc microsoft security essentials - are free, as effective and less overhead.

Let's take a look at independent virus scanner reviews:

http://www.av-comparatives.org/comparativesreviews/main-test… (The most recent retrospective review)
Avira (Free): 53% of new virus samples
      Norton: 43% of new samples
      Eset NOD32 ($26/yr): 52% of new samples
Microsoft Security Essentials (Free with Windows Vista/7): 59% of new samples

So there we have at least two free virus scanners and more than two commercial virus scanners with more comprehensive virus protection than Norton.

Out of the 17 virus scanners reviewed,
For "On demand tests": Norton places 11th.
For "Proactive detection of new malwave": Symantec places 7th.

And VB100 for "In the wild virus detection" (Free signup may be required to view)
      http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archive/results?display=summar…
      AVG: 100%
      Norton: 100%
      Avira Personal: 100%
      Microsoft Security Essentials: 100%

@ Vidiot - I don't think the "free" products provide the comprehensive protection of paid programs. For ex. the AVG free is just a AV and does not have firewall or Anti spy-ware or Anti Hijack option.. and AVG premium you have to pay for.

re.. MS Security .. do you really want to use that and think you are protected?

    • I use MSE on my virtual machines (macbook) and it has caught all the virus's on my friends USB.

Apart from the you can get by with a Free AV and a little common sense.

    • re.. MS security .. yes.

For me and 99% of users, windows firewall (since vista) is sufficiently configurable, and if you paid me 20 bucks to use a 3rd party firewall I would say 20 bucks is not worth the angst - no thanks.

  • norton and mcafee are the worst!

  • Windows 7 provides more protection than older operating systems anyway. With spyware doctor I barely ever got spyware and I never get viruses whereas on XP and Vista they would be detected more often (spyware all the time).

I'm using MSE atm as well and it does a good job and isn't resource hungry.

  • Good Deal for those that need it :)

  • dunno why every knocks Norton, works perfectly for me…might be a resource hog if you running a old system…but i dont even notice its running.

oh and right after installing 360 it picked up malware on my comp that AVG missed.

anways when i got my 360 i appiled for this cash back…not sure whether this applies for this product:

  • Hi Willpan,

    Thanks for your comment.

That rebate applies to all Norton 360/NIS2010 products. You will be able to get the rebate of the software deal we have as well. $30 rebate means it is pretty much free after you receive the redemption cheque from Symantec!

    • The rebate turns this into a bargain.

Most tech people built up a distaste for Norton products over time because they were resource hogs, but since 2009 it was completely re-coded and now maintains a lower profile barely resembling previous versions. Recommended. But I'll keep using Nod32 because it works too.

      • I used to love nod32 till it failed me one day and both computers at home got wiped out cause of it D=

    • Tanuj,

Is it correct, what Bluemoon is saying?
I have purchased one product and thinking,If I will get the cheque or not.
I also read the terms which say so:
      Offers
      5. The Offers are not valid with Not For Resale, academic or upgrade purchases, site licences, or OEM versions pre-installed on a new PC or laptop or purchased with a new PC or laptop, or for purchases from the Symantec Online Store. The Offers are not valid in conjunction with any other rebate or bonus offer(s).

      Please clarify.

  • Wow, thats a great deal.
I have also seen Norton 360 working like a charm at my friend PC.
I am having WIndows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with Microsoft Security Essentials.
Hope it works great and I receive my money :)

  • Does the site have a PAYPAL payment option?

    • Yep has Paypal, just ordered one hopefully shipments will be made very quickly.

    • yes, it is only paypal.

  • hi, how long does it take to post to sydney? since we need to activate by 13 september for cashback. also can anyone confirm that cashback works for this post? plus is there a limit on how many we can redeem?
    thanks in advance

  • I'll stick with MSE, I haven't had any trouble so far. :P

  • Hi dealsniper

All orders received today will be processed & posted out tomorrow. Unless Auspost has a delay average time is 2-4 days for regular post to most cities. So you will receive item well before 13/9/10.

  • thanks tanuj for your reply. can you confirm the OEM version is eligible for cashback? bluemoon posted earlier that OEM is not eligible.
    cheers

  • Hi Dealsniper

I noticed what bluemoon posted. I have had a customer buy this same NIS today and they registered for cashback and had no issues. Their claim was accepted.

I cannot guarantee about cashback as that is the discretion of Symantec but can confirm a customer of ours used the OEM copy and claimed cashback and his claim was accepted.

  • arrived in 2 days thankyou.
