CASHREWARDS

After solid negotiations between Cashrewards & Woolworths Mobile, we're happy to be able to bring back this exclusive deal similar to the pre-order sale of last month. Although it's $2 more per month, note it now includes an extra 2GB of data as a bonus. Woolworths has unfortunately had to cut back on the cashback made available to us specifically for this offer. We could have chosen a higher monthly rate with higher cashback, but we believe this will resonate better with our members and customers. Please ensure you apply coupon CASHREWARDS on the checkout page for a $13 monthly discount on the medium plan only. Offer ends 11:55pm Friday AEST unless sold out prior. Have fun :)

Note you must click out via this link before you purchase to be eligible for the $20 cashback.

Bonus 2GB data offer is valid on all approved Woolworths Mobile Medium (4GB) Phone Plan applications when you order the Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ between 2 May 2017 and 5 May 2017 via Cashrewards website only. Use promo code CASHREWARDS at checkout. Monthly cost for the S8 is $67 per month (min cost $1608 over 24 months) including a $17 handset fee. • @Gaggy:

Agreed. The only thing is this puts out 6gb a data a month. Basically you can browse and do emails etc, but you aren't going to be able to watch any video content online more than ad hoc once off as you'd chew through it. So it limits you to downloading offline content to use on the phone. Virgins 17gb sim only special currently solves this, but again you don't get the phone.

I only wonder if waiting a few months would see the phone become considerably a few hundred dollars cheaper on plan so one can go for a higher data plan.

        • @SaberX: TBH, I dont watch movies in the train as the reception keep going up and down. checking emails, videos every now and then, social media and watsapp videos is enough to spend time.
But yes if you can wait, go for it. Else you can give this sim to anyone else in the family and get virgin one for your self. Phones are not locked, so I hope it should be fine.

        • @Gaggy:

Problem is this would be for myself. So giving the sim away means by the time I buy a new sim with decent data not on Telstra network e.g. virgin or optus, I'd be way more out of pocket than just paying a higher mobile + sim plan with optus or something to begin with…

drats why couldn't this woolies one come with 7 or 8 gb data, would be a dead set choice for me then.

What's the typical pricing drop over time for a new Samsung?would a $70-95 all in plan now for a s8+ become $60-75 in the future say 0.5 year to a year based off the s7 etc?

        • @Gaggy:

argh Gaggy i'm struggling with paying top dollar. I've always stayed away from 'the latest' phone, bar the z3 i got when it first came out around $700 (bday gift) in dec 14. It was off a low base though. WIth this being $1,350 retail I can't help but wonder if this will be close to $70 all up with more data on non telstra networks shortly.

Also tossing up if the s7 will be just as good once it's price is slashed. Has the s7 or s7 edge had any decent battery considerations in comparison (coming from an experia z3)?

A part of me tells me this bonus 2gb data isn't going to come around again… maybe the $13 discount per month. I wish they just put their large plan on $13 off as well - after all it's the same discount… silly, but hope tightarse can work on that. If he does I might just go for it!

        • @SaberX: Sorry, havent used S7. But that is a decent phone as well. Prices wont go down that frequent. After 1 year or 1.5 years, you will have another phone in line.

        • @Gaggy:

Yeah.. I'm regretting, the offer for this just expired 10 minutes ago. I had been deliberating for the last hour or two but just couldn't decide if the 6gb data was worth it. I really hope they bring this back again by popular demand or at least include both medium and large plans to have the $13 off (after all, they all cost the same pre discount). If so I would be sold on paying more for the large plans.

Atm some spotify streaming would kill the 6gb in an instant :(

        • @SaberX: Wait for it then. IF not, go for cheapest S7 you can get and go for best data plan.

        • @Gaggy:

s8+ was a nice similar fit to the z3. so fingers crossed they bring back something abit above 6gb data for under $80. Hopefully @tightarse can negotiate a 'back by popular demand' of this with woolies, except include the large plan in it. Be good if this was soon as the large plan is 8gb + 4 gb bonus data at the moment, and the medium 6 gb :O

I may just regret this night in the months to come… haha

        • @SaberX: Lol. True. Not only S8+, but iPhones, g6 are decent to hold as well. Keep looking.

        • @Gaggy:

Don't think I could go back to iphones and the IOS restrictions. Much prefer android and being able to drop and drag and do away with god ol' itunes haha.

Thanks. Who knows maybe I will get a pleasant surprise with a s8+ plan later this month . it is after all freshly painted…

    • How long does Woolworths let you keep the phone for, before they force you to activate the SIM?

      • +1

48 hours only after it is dispatched.

        • +1

I had it longer than that and no activation.

I don't know the limits though. I presume you can't hold onto it forever.

  • +2

The battery on the S8+ is 20% larger and that alone is enough to make me get the +.

    • a + for you

  • I can't seem to find whether data rollover is allowed on woolies mobile plan?

    • -1

      Nope.

      • Damn :( thanks!

  • +1

    got one…. thanks TA

  • Not going to dispute that this is a good deal. But WW has been terrible from my experience thus far. I ordered a handset (not the S8) five weeks ago - still haven't received it. Their customer service and administration team isn't very helpful and have been quite misleading.

    • +1

Well i guess it's a blessing in disguise! If you don't fancy the VR but could appreciate the extra data, perhaps just refuse delivery and resign your plan to this deal.. I'm looking at this 6GB deal wishing I had waited!

      • +1

They sent me the phone before I could refuse the deal and here's the kicker, they sent me the wrong coloured phone after waiting five weeks.

        • +1

Wow how could they accidentally send you the wrong colour lol.. It's a completely different SKU. If I got like the gold one instead of the colour I wanted, I'd be livid.. especially if I've preordered and wanted the phone ASAP. Hope your 2 year contract with them goes alright! (I haven't had anything bad happen though, touch-wood.. Startrack delivered mine super quickly and I've been a happy camper.)

  • Thanks for the heads up. Ordered an 8+ for the Wife. She has been nagging me for quite a while to upgrade her Note 3. Mind you there is nothing wrong with the Note 3.

    • I'm on a note 3, just ordered a new battery yesterday instead of getting a new phone.

Was tossing up this. But $20 battery was cheaper :P

  • Great deal!

  • Thanks OP. Wasn't looking for a new phone but couldnt say no to $67 p/mth ….. Back to the android camp for 2 years.

Btw is anyone else getting an expected $120 cashback?

    • +2

Cashback is definitely $20 on this deal, so if your tracking email is incorrectly reporting $120, this will be adjusted down to $20 in your acct once sales are consolidated.

  • +1

Great deal however the other deal which was-

    • ~$65P/M

    • Free gear VR

    • $100 cash back

    Was 87.3% better…

    • This has extra 2gb a month

      • +4

I would prefer the less data for ~$348 savings…
        [~$200(vr)+$100(CR)+2*24=$48(saving $2 each month)]
For that price you could buy yourself another decent phone!

        • this helps me to justify the 2GB less data.

        • Glad to help.
          😀

        • +2

VR for $200 ??? plenty for sale around $50 mark in Facebook..

        • Well. You haven't met a sucker before…

  • +1

I prefer cheaper plan even if with less data & calls inclusion.

  • +3

    For the S8 Plus:
    1) With Woolworths - Costs 1704 over 2 years and locked into 2 year contract with 6gb a month.
    2) Outright e.g. 1200 from recent mobilciti deal and kogan mobile 10gb/month for 279.93 a year. Works out to be 1759 over 2 years with more data and only one year at a time locked in.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Option 2 appears to be a better decision and more flexible if living in area with good Vodafone reception. Especially given outright price may drop even further closer to 1000-1100 in a few months and mobile plans will become even better in the year to come.

    • +6

All fine for those with $1480 free to spend in the next 3 days.
For those wanting the cheapest option and who think 6GB is enough, and who prefer to be on the Telstra network, then Option 1 is a better choice

    • Bear in mind:
      - Kogan does not include any international calling if you ever want to do
      - Kogan uses Vodafone which will be at par or lower compared to Woolies( Telstra).
      - With Kogan, you are paying everything in advance compared to paying in installments with no interest or extra charges.

TBH, I am also not big fan of contracts, but taken once you choose any, you stick to it for over 2 years, I think jumping to good deals like this or previous one from woolies is a good idea if you like new phone.

      Else use S7 and Kogan….

      • Agreed. But if you're someone who wants a new phone, 2 years is a long time to wait for the next one. And if you do sell it beforehand you're stuck paying 70 dollars for 6gb a month plan. And phone plans prices for same inclusions change a lot in 2 years, hence why telcos can offer these deals.

Ive always felt it worthwhile to wait 3-6 months on most products so that hardware issues are ironed out. And the initial early adopter prices drop. E.g. buying this phone for 1000 when on sale and getting a $17/month 5gb a month kogan or tpg/aldi deal if want int calls/better network etc. Then move to a cheaper plan with same inclusions in a year. Far more savings than the interest earned paying monthly. Each to their own though.

Just signed up a red plan with vodaphone, should I life-threaten vodaphone staff erase my detial so that i can get this deal?

    • -1

      hi Horny pub….i am lovepub

    • It was a joke….. Wow…..i guess a bit to hard to get for those ppl..

      • 30 day network guarantee you can bail quite easily.

  • +1

Anyone know how long it takes them to send the phone?

  • I am confused AsF.

I was about to buy a s7e for $600 through 20% ebay deal. I dont like to be in a 24 months contract however, I checked this phone at Samsung store yesterday and it is gorgeous.

Should I wait a couple of months more for Oneplus 4 or buy this phone outright with a prepaid sim?

    • +1

      Listen to your heart

      • +2

My heart likes to spend money and my mind says "bitch please".

    • I guess there are no Oneplus 4 anymore but should has Oneplus 5. You know the reason :)

  • +4

Contacted Woolworths Mobile this morning and tried to upgrade from the 4GB ($69/month promo for the S8+), although they wouldn't let me.

"I have double checked this with my supervisor and he confirmed that we cannot change the plan to a different promotion."

  • Just signed up a red plan with vodaphone, I guess there is no way other than paying early cancel fee?

    • there should be a cooling off period for contract phones is there not?

    • They have the bring it back within 30 days if you aren't happy with their network. Take it back and they will cancel the plan.

  • Thanks OP, Missed the last deal. But this one is equally good. Signed up for one…Yaaaaay!!!

  • Can you get AFL Live Stream on woolworths mobile?

    • AFL Live Pass is only included and data-free for direct Telstra customers.

  • +1

I got the S8 in the previous deal. I now wish that I had got the S8+. It looks so small compared to my LG G5.

    • +1

I checked both phones yesterday. I Think s8+ feels big and s8 feels smaller in hands.

      • +1

i have the S8, it feels small in my hands

  • Prices are expected to go down to 800-900 with 20% off deals on Ebay in July.

    • it is just under $1000 at ebay now for grey import. All the best for the waiting.

  • No deal on the Large 8GB plan plus 4GB bonus?

  • not quite enough to tempt me to move on from my S6. Happy with Vaya $12 plan and to be honest don't really see the point in upgrading phones every 2 years anymore, they aren't that much of a leap! S6 is still snappy for web browsing and apps.

    • I almost pulled the trigger for my wife but her reason took over and I she to the same conclusion. Her S6 does everything she needs perfectly.

      • That's a good saving ytumer!

I am hesitating as I want to get the plan myself (upgrade from Optus 1.5Gb) and phone to my partner (to upgrade her S6 16Gb) as she complains the phone is out of storage, but it is a bit pricy for a tight person like me.

  • Sold out for orchid grey in the regular S8

  • +1

Personally, I WOULDN'T touch with Woolworths Mobile. Their Customer service is Terrible.
If there is a problem they takes ages even it is obviously easy one.
Their Customer service department does not care after you hang up your phone call
Not to mention how dodgy their website is.. :)

  • Woolworths mobile on facebook seems to have pretty terrible reviews and some angry people on there. But this deal is so good. Can others who bought on the last deal last month please comment on if they had any issues and what the reception and data speeds are like? I'm living in Darwin and Optus and Vodafone are terrible…I'm on Telstra atm which has good coverage (I realise this does have access to most of the Telstra network)

    • +1

Refer to my comment here with links to the coverage maps of both Woolworths Mobile and Telstra, as there can be a significant difference in regional coverage. Might be worth checking your area and comparing between the two.

      • +1

I purchased an S8 and S8+ on the last 4Gb deal and are very happy with the reception so far. I was with Telstra before this and am getting the same speeds data wise at the previous locations that I have tested in. Im in the Northern suburbs of Brisbane. I have not had chance to test in the middle of the city yet (where I would get 4GX speeds) but seeing as most of my usual data use was in 4G speeds I'm ok with not having 4GX. I have not been too far out of town (about 90km) and was still getting 4G speeds in a rural setting so I'm happy.

The last two speed tests that I did were around the 92 and 88 Mbps range.

Call wise I never had VOLTE on my Note Edge, but the quality of the calls are as good as my old Telstra plan was, I've had no drop outs, weird noises etc.

So, my experience so far has been great. Saving $60 a month over both plans as well, including the cost of the phones!

        Of course YMMV in Darwin..

Re WW service I have only had to contact them once via chat and they solved my issue on the spot. I did contact Rod S from Woolworths (he's active here and on Whirlpool) about swapping my S8+ phone colour over and he was a champ. My daughter recently upgrade her plan only mid way though via web chat and that was quite painless as well.

I will agree that the website is a bit dodgy and that you can only get your balances etc. through their app.

  • Where should I enter this coupon code? In promo rewards?

  • Seeing deals like this make me regret not pulling the trigger on the S7 Optus friends and family offer…

Fingers crossed for an impressive deal soon!! Wife broke the glass on my current screen.

  • -1

Good deal, but the Chinese market version does have snapdragon 835 and 6GB RAM.
    Hard to decide.
Also at the moment, xposed framework only support upto Android 6.

    • no idea why some guy negative this information

      • Because nobody cares about that information, and comparing grey stock to local stock.

In the real world, those specs aren't going make any difference for people using this phone to text, browse the web, and take selfies.

        • Snapdragon vs exynos will definitely have differences

And what of some people don't notice the difference, this deal isn't exclusive to those people lmao,
People who know the subtle differences and care about them can notice this deal too? (in fact how can people not notice the difference)

They're all valid and important points

        • @jay0514:

Of course, everything you say is true.

I was only telling aboutconfig why people were downvoting him.

  • +1

I am so torn! THe 1 day only virgin sale for 17 GB data, the $40 optus 12 gb sim (which now seems redundant given virgins) or this!?!

I would love a new phone to replace my z3 but feel so rushed… on one hand $69/71 a month for a phone plus data is great but as i have moved up from 6/7 gb a month to 9gb and now considering 17, I am wondering if i could survive on the woolies data allowance of 6gb.

Plus i think people already mentioned that they won't offer spotify streaming correct? Which optus network does?

    Decisions decisions…

Does this deal ending on Friday mean the $20 cash rewards, or does it also include the 2 GB extra data? Or is that extra 2gb data not related to cashrewards, and one doesn't need to use the cash rewards website to access?

    • Same here. Got a Z3 and planning to upgrade. I can give my wife this sim plan and use her S8+ as i bought her a S7edge last year.

I love good cameras and i noticed google pixel crushed s7 in last years camera battles. I dont know if i should wait for a pixel 2, note 8 or oneplus 4….?

Or buy this woolies deal as i think 6Gb is enough for my wife (she currently has 1gb data with amaysim)and I can buy any cheap prepaid card and use it on my s8+

When a new phone like pixel 2 or note 8 will arrive I can give thos phone to her and buy one outright…

Whats the best option? We both are on a month to month prepaid sim.

      • Me too. Also the Kogan prepaid option $30 for 14gb is also very good

  • Anyone know if woolies issues s8 mobiles are hot spottable, and also unlocked for overseas travel sim cards etc?

And for metropolitan perth, given the screenshot posted by someone above, is the woolies access to coverage under telstra going to be noticeable compared to a natural telstra customer direct?

  • -6

Just wait for iphone 8/7s/7sp plans

    • Neg centipede coming through.

    • why ?

      • Because centipede hates iphones.

  • I knew I should have waited lol. I guess there wouldn't be any chance of Woolworths honouring this if I tell them to cancel the cashback, i.e. reduce the cashback to $20 from $120?

  • Tight (,)

    :)

  • Been thinking of going Android but wanted one with really good camera + water resistant + extra storage — Samsungs seem to tick all the boxes, and this is a pretty amazing deal. The only concern I have is the size of this thing. I have small hands, and feel very comfortable on my iphone 5s (would like to be able to just use with one hand). I was thinking going with this, then in a few months just sell it if I really can't hack it, since I imagine the S8 would still retain a bit of value < 1 year later. Does that sound like a realistic strategy? What experiences have people had coming from a small to a big screen phone?

    • If your hands are that small and an iPhone 5s is too big and annoying I guess this phone isn't for u

      • 5s is awesome fit for me. I meant "I would like to have a new phone I can ALSO use with just one hand", not that I was having difficulty with a 5s. What kind of hands would I have if it had issues with a 5s? Toddler hands? Lol!

  • Does the phone and sim card come separately?
From ordering, how long will it take for phone/sim/both to be delivered?

  • Ordered one yesterday and received it today. Ported number from Lebara and works good. When logged into WW mobile app to track usage - Data Limit still shows as 4 GB. Any idea why it still shows 4GB when the plan was supposed to be 6 GB ? @tightarse - Any tips ?

    • Wow :)

    • Ring them ASAP, sort it out as soon as possible. Make sure you have all the emails and communication showing that you bought it with the 6Gb offer.

    • +3

Hi - as per the T&C's the bonus 2GB is added within 48 hours. No need to call anyone.
The process that adds the 2GB runs once a day very early in the morning.
      Yours should appear tomorrow morning.
      Cheers
      Rod

      • Hi Rod

Given the issues going through the cashrewards website and tracking, is the 2 gb bonus activated via entering the promo code? Or through cash rewards tracking? Abit scared if the latter as usual my cash rewards doesn't track and I'm left with a paltry 4 gb…

        • The 2GB is added on our end after you've activated. So as long as you activate your service after you receive your phone, the 2GB will be added within 48 hours
          Cheers
          Rod

        • @Rod S:
          Thanks Rod!

Could you confirm what others have said that the phone comes fully unlocked - so usable overseas? And that also the android is running stock and not updated for woolies customisation?

Could you comment if people can add 1 or 2 GB data packs on and if so how much? If 6GB isn't enough?

        • @Rod S:

Hi Rod - can you and cashrewards perhaps negotiate a deal on the large plan? Surely if the medium comes with the 2gb bonus (6gb) with $13 off, the same coudl be done for the large - $13 off too? It would be proportional to buying the large plan over the medium when the discount isn't on? Would be keen if so!

      • Thanks @Rod. As you clarified the bonus 2 GB is now added. All good now !!
