Cheap and cheerful Wifi IP Camera with quite good performance for the price. I've bought a number of these including one with this coupon - this is fairly close to the cheapest it has ever been as far as I can remember.

If you want to reduce the risk of your pictures ending up being spied on by Chinese agencies, you can install a hack which gives the camera the ability to stream sound and video via RTSP - can be then be used with a number of video recording software solutions instead of the standard Xiaomi Mi Home app:

Wow. Even cheaper than last deal ($29.56).

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304703

    Good camera. Love mine.

  • "reduce the risk of your pictures ending up being spied on by Chinese agencies, you can install a hack"

Really?? Didn't realize that was a thing!

Is that with this brand of camera only? Or all digital video security cameras??

The Chinese have a MASSIVE interest in spying on Neville Nobodies in Australia. They are furious when Neville hasn't mowed his grass in over a month, or when Neville forgets to put his bin out on Monday night.

Sunday night in my council! =p

Or if Neville has run a successful dairy company into the ground.

If the chinese government wants to watch me sitting on the couch scratching myself they can go nuts.

Just a thought - I have monitored two of those cameras at my house - and so far there was no significant traffic from it unless I have accessed it.
Sure, there is a hypothetical risk that whoever owns the cloud where the camera attaches to may be able to "spy" on you, but opening the firewall for rtsp stream opens you to many other issues.
In either case - if your cam is not named with your address, and if you don't leave it on when you are at home (why would you?) there is nothing to bother you. Someone may see your empty anonymous living room.
To me bigger risk is strolling in a shopping centre with my mobile phone (with wifi on but not connected) or using Woolworth or Coles reward cards. Not anonymous and way more personal details.
      Just my $0.02

What's your camera ip address and login password.?

Happy to help you increase a bit of traffic.

        • @m9:
The IP address will depend on what was assigned to it by your modem/router.

AFAIK, you can only get shell access to the device when it's running the hack…

        • @OnTheMark:

Just assign a static IP to it. Yes I'm running that firmware. I also have mine on a separate VLAN with certain restrictions in place as I toy with it.

      Check this article

      http://www.kvue.com/mb/news/local/austin-mothers-warning-aft…

Doesn't that look like a Xiaomi cam?

  • Still showing as 29.50 after applying cold and tried paying vua paypal?

Try setting the currency to AUD on GeekBuying before going to checkout.

      • Thx 👍

  • hmm..ordered two from shoppingsquare ebay thinking it was a great deal, but they are not going to ship for 7-14 days. Never used geekbuying before, but this is a nice price.

  • Perfect timing, just went to get another one
Btw the official iOS app now has English language what make features like motion detection usable. Great feature, it can message you when motion is detected and save a video of it - probably message Chinese NSA as well
I'll try the hacked firmware thanks

  • Looks like it's sold out while I'm creating an account in their website. Oh well…

  • This doesn't come with the 1 x Power Adapter though, so shoppingsquare deal is still good.

    • I think the Shopping Square adapter is Chinese so not really useful to most.

      • Ah, lucky I have several adapters thanks to all the Seagate HDDs I have accumulated over the years.

  • +1

    I just bought one.
They must still be in stock.

    • Yep. Geek allocated more stock 😄

      • +2

Clear, can you confirm with them if these include the power adapter? Might be good to point it out if it doesn't.

        • +1

          Sure I'll find out.

        • Agree, it would be good to point it out if it doesn't. That would make shoppingsquare deal better.

        • @Clear: any clarification on this?

        • @OldMateNate: Sorry for the late reply. No power supply included.

        • @Clear:
          Oh dayam…..
Well, how much is a power supply?
          Sigh.

        • @neojen: Takes a microUSB cable and requires 5V/1A so a standard phone charger or even a power bank works.

        • @Clear:
Well that's not so bad then.
          Thanks!

  • Looks like it's back in stock. Was going to order two but noticed that the coupon code only applies a discount of $11.95 even if you order two or three of it.

Anybody else facing the same problem?

    • order 2 times….

      • I can't as I need to order expedited shipping (need the cameras asap).

        • ok probably you want to save on the shipping fee.

But if you use freeshipping .. you can order 1 camera on each order to get the discount.

        • @eecchhoo: Yeah totally get that I can order 1 camera each time if I use free shipping.

It's just that I need to order expedited shipping. :(

        • +1

          @JLHC:
In that case you're probably best to order from TinyDeal for AU$35 each:
          https://www.tinydeal.com/xiaomi-mijia-xiaofang-1080p-ip-came…

TinyDeal ships them with express post for no extra charge - I've done 3 orders for these cameras from them and they came in about a week each time!

  • Hmm, showing up as AU$28.36 for me? What am I doing wrong? :(

    • same here… $28.36, also when adding two no discount on the second one :-(

    • Probably just the difference between paying in USD and letting you C/C do the currency conversion.

    • +1

Looks like the exchange rate has changed - I'll update the price in the title.

  • Any local service for warranty?

  • Can I rotate this camera remotely? My current cam, I can rotate it 360 degree side wise and 270 degree upside. By looking at a image of this camera I don't see any motors to rotate it.

    • No you can't

  • Nice, I will need something like this for my house. How is the night vision mode though?

  • does this work outdoors?
say if i was to attach it to a battery pack + mount it underneath the house eaves

    • It'll only work for a number of hours when connected to a battery pack of course, but other than that, it should work - I've got one covering the front of our house stuck under the eaves on one of the metal down pipes.

      • Any condensation on the lenses? Thinking of doing the same however melb had pretty cold frosty night morning lately so I'm worried it might break the camera

        • +1

I haven't had any issues with the camera that I've got under the eaves - but I'm in Brisbane, so it's not as cold here of course.

  • Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what are these for? Is it so you can look at your kitchen on your phone while you're at work? what's the point?

    • if someone breaks into said kitchen you'll be alerted so you can rush home/call a neighbour or police.
      or
if you have pets you can see if they've died on said kitchen floor
      or
if your area has tornados/hurricane/bushfires you can monitor outside when you've evacuated to a safe location (provided phonelines/internet hasnt but cut)

  • Looks like this code has expired.

  • Can you use this camera when you're out of home? Like do I have to be connected to the same WiFi or can I see what is happening at home from work using my mobile data?

    • Yes, you can monitor the camera on 4G out of home. You can also set the motion detection and it will send a push notification + 15 second video to your phone/ipad every time movement is detected. Very good to position one of these at the front door/window so you will know when parcels delivered, door knockers etc. Only negative to be aware of is that night vision mode is only good indoors. If you have camera facing outside through a window the IR blaster will cause reflection/white blur, making the image not very useful. You can still see a little bit, but not great.

      • Thanks heaps! That helps a lot. I wonder how long it will last off a power bank, because I don't really have power points where I intend to place them.

        • Not too sure how long off a power bank, with a 10,000mah maybe 1-2 days? I plugged mine into PC USB port, they are always on.

        • Great, thank you I shall order a few then. Do you know if it is a loop recording? Just realised that I will need microsd cards too!

  • +1

anyone else get one of these? mine just got delivered today. tried installing the mi home app (ios) - theres no icon to add a webcam, just things like air purifiers and fans etc. tried yi home, that seemed like its working (I could see the device pick up an address on the router) but the app says its not pairing…..given all the audio from the camera is in chinese (I think) or mandarin or whatever, its impossible to tell what its issue is :(

    • Use the MiHome app but set the region to China Mainland - once you restart the app you will have the option to add the camera.

  • Got mine today. Had issue with MiHome app, when connecting, the wifi step, I got this error: "couldn't find an available wi-fi network"
I uninstalled the app, and reinstalled from google play, and then it worked.

Now I need to decide how I want to use it. Will install fang hacks, then maybe setup a motioneye[os] on a raspberry pi with external harddrive…

  • I just received my cameras.
Turns out they are not the international version and they do come with the power cable and a USA power point.
