  • Great work!!! How's the camera on this does anyone know?

    • I got one last week and the camera is good. 16MB front and back. But luckily there is an app inbuiult to hide the wrinkles when taking selfies!

      • +1

Lol. The higher the megapixel count, the more your wrinkles and age spots show. Gotta to be a downside to all them high end selfie cams..

        • +3

Hence the bonus of having an app to smooth it all out when you take the pic. Can live in denail for the next year or so :)

    • ive been using this phone for the past 3 months.. its pretty good.. i'm not a fan of the color OS ontop of android its trying to be like apple too much.. apart from that phones good no issues so far. Battery life is good.. i use it 90% of the time to watch TV shows on the train. :) AMOLED screen is nice

  • What does it mean by Network Branding: Vodafone?

    • +2

Not entirely sure. As I just picked it up from Officeworks it's not something I need to worry about. Maybe it has the Vodafone splash on boot? I am not sure.

    • For most cases it would have a startup logo of voda, as well as their apps already installed on on the phone.
It could also include a sim card with their pallets about their plans.

      • unlocked but branded

        • It can be locked, but in this case unlocked for any network.

    • +1

Means it's Vodafone stock. If and when Oppo releases security updates and/or updates to the phone, you won't get it until Vodafone clears it first.

    • Also Officeworks will not price match anything branded as it has to be 1 for 1. So Officeworks stock is genuine unlocked and unbranded stock as where mobileciti stock is unlocked but branded to Vodafone. Op got lucky for price match.

    • They might be for Vodafone network, so will have welcome screen or some apps from there. If they are network locked, Mobileciti will open and unlock them.
Dont like phones like that. Better buy from Officeworks.

  • Hows this vs the S7?

      • I know, but doesn't really tell me about the speed.
Just searching the cpu bench seems the S7 is still faster.

        • yeah, S7's chip is much faster. The outstanding feature of this phone is its 16mp front facing camera.

        • OK. I'm going to look for a cheap S7 then.
Seems very close in price with ebay 20% off

        • @furyou:

Would never get an Oppo for all this money! We can get a brand new s7 edge for $600 off ebay during sales.

      • This is the site you were looking for. The Samsung kills it.

        Oppo R9s Basemark OS II 2.0: 1091 / Basemark X: 10519

        Samsung Galaxy S7 Basemark OS II 2.0: 2128 / Basemark X: 32345

    • I haven't used the Oppo, but as far as I know:

The S7 is a beautiful and well built phone, has a better screen, a better back camera, a better processor (especially Exynos version), and can be had for cheaper (500$ new grey imports on ebay). Oppo supposedly has a great front camera, and does come with more inbuilt storage.

Personally I'd go with the S7 but the Oppo is a totally decent phone on paper.

    • the opo r9s is a mid range phone like the moto z play

  • +3

This shouldn't really have been price matched. As it's branded to Vodafone, and not outright unlocked version.
So you got lucky with that price match! Price match is usually has to be a like for like product. Even though technically the same phone. So don't expect it to be done at every Officeworks. Guess, will depend on how oblivious they are then? haha So well done!

    • so you wouldn't price match it at your store?

      • +4

Course not, I will fire Filster at the next meeting if he does.

        • +1

If he does not listen to you and still does it, I will fire you both.

      • Probably, most unlikely!

  • +1

Was just looking at reviews of this yesterday. Must be a sign!

  • Unless you're bush is burning I wouldn't be sure
I saw an Angel fly down into the mall yesterday and a ray of light shone down onto an iPhone 7 plus
but I'm pretty sure that was just a mistake

    • +2

It might have just been the ghost of Steve Jobs.

      • Went with a Motorola g5 plus,
        so I bought a merkin ,
He'll have to be satisfied with that

  • +1

Don't expect good software support from Oppo in terms of updates, 1 and a half max. There customer service is pretty good though. Easily contactable through whirlpool, for Australian bought phones at least.

  • I bought one last week as a rash purchase after my HTC died on me.

Love the fast charge - from 20% to 93% in about 25mins. Nice and light, screen is clear. Photos good, and easy to setup and copy stuff across to. Bonus points for free case and already stuck on screen protector in the box.

You can get updates to colorOS from Oppo website before they are pushed down which I like.
There isn't much junk on the phone which is a big bonus.

My only grumble is the notification issue which is widely reported, and I've not had chance yet to try the fixes but have kept the apps running to minimise the disruption.

If you aren't/can't price beat at OW then these are cheaper $20 cheaper from MobileCiti eBay or Wireless 1 eBay with C5OZ code = $508.06 delivered

Wireless 1 also have dual sim model for $526.30, not sure if that's 4g/3g or 4g/2g though.

  • My partner got one the other week price matching OW with Mobiciti. I have a Nexus 5x and am in awe of the battery this thing has. I'm so sick of my 5x barely being able to handle a day.

  • Is this dual sim? and is it 4g & 3g or 4G & 2G?

    • It's dual sim…4G/3G. I just got one from Officeworks too. Thanks OP.

  • price is now $548

  • Where does it say dual sims?

    • Check GSMarena.com but every Oppo phone I've ever looked up is dual sim (where second sim uses the slot for microSD)

  • Wow: Still on the first page of deals and already expired

  • The Vodafone version is not network locked but it is a single sim device
