    Are you guys legitimately comfortable making comments aimed at getting a laugh at the expense of overweight people? You are actually ok with your values right now?

        Fair enough, though I think being totally ok with that kind of bullying is rare. I'd probably feel pretty shit if people were having a laugh at my expense. It makes most people feel really awful, can affect self-worth and cause all sorts of psychological issues like depression and anxiety.

        • These people are already eating themselves to death. One of the reasons why smoking has dropped significantly in the past decade is due to the fact that it's now socially unacceptable (well, that and taxes…) to do so. There are actually some very strong medical augments that we should be "fat-shaming" people for that very reason. Only 1% of obese individuals have that level of weight due to a medical condition - the other 99% simply refuse to exert a proper level of self-control.

        • @Tyrx: when will the era of political correctness end, sigh…

        • @Tyrx:
          I'm not claiming that obesity is healthy. My brief look at the argument that "fat-shaming" produces any positive health outcomes shows it to be false, but if you can provide some quality science to back it I'll happily read it. From my reading the opposite appears to be true, that bullying can actually make the problem worse and lead to binge eating and avoidance of exercise due to fear of public humiliation. Surely you imagine how hard it would be for an overweight teenager wanting to go for a run or play a sport to lose weight when your peer group is constantly making you feel like shit because of how you look?

          Re smoking rates, the reductions would appear to mainly come from government regulations http://www.phrp.com.au/issues/january-2016-volume-26-issue-1….

          I'd also like to see the data supporting the claim that 99% of overweight people are refusing to exert a proper level of self-control, that just doesn't sound right to me.

        • @bargainaus:

          I'm pretty sure people are just sick of every corner of the internet being ruined by bullying. I'd also argue that this form of offensive humour is losing popularity as people's tastes mature. My guess is that common decency or "political correctness" isn't going anywhere. People are realising that not being a dick has many benefits.

          @Stevesie76:
          @stevesie76, obeisity today is mostly poor nutrition and/or overeating. Yes, there's exceptions but for the most part, that's the case.

          You only have to look at old school photos from 30+ years ago. Very rare to see an overweight child in any of them and most are what you'd call skinny today. And we weren't starved.

          Also, check out foodcourts and look for how heavy some people are and what they're eating. Disconcerting to see obese people with a thickshake and plate full of fries or similar.

  • Picked up some on the last sale a few weeks back. Def worth the price. I'm big but not big enough to get these sizes unfortunately
