$1499 RRP or ticketed price? Most stores never have speakers/TV's for the manufacturers RRP.

They do when they are a sony store selling only sony products.

  • Ok, shoot me down for being a complete N00B on this range; but no matter where I look for this model I only see 5 speakers & a sub; my maths aren't great, but we seem to be missing roughly 2? ;)

the rear two can be disconnected to four, nifty

      • Ah, thanks a bunch for that kimmik, I do like to learn something new every day! ;)

        Agreed, nifty indeed! :)

Even @ $499 you don't get what you pay for i.e. 150 watts MAXIMUM.
…..goodness………get a Logitech Z-5500 Digital THX®-certified, 505-watt, 5.1 digital surround sound speaker system for less than $400 @ PC Case Gear or MWave Aust or Shopping Square or …………..&

    • yeah pretty much..but home theatre/audio in general is pretty expensive so when you put that into perspective, at $500, you get what you pay for and unfortunately you don't get much. I'd personally stay clear of both and save my $500 for something much better.

    • in words that you can understand - you dont buy dolls based only on the size of the breasts

oh wait nvm. i guess you do.

    • How about THD.
I am sure the sony is the winner on that one.
You dont want a hissing noise as you are watching your movie/tv show and there is a quiet scene.

The sony gear is also going to be much easier to connect to your amp, it also has a remote not a desk volume control unit.

      • noise has nothing to do with thd though. noise is noise, thd is thd. since the sony gear doesn't include an amp, the noise level will be dependent on your amp.

  • Drewski181 its 150w per channel meaning 1050W total. And when its quiet its the noise of the amp that you hear not speakers.
