thanks! i'm new to this sizing provided by van heusen. What size would i be without measuring myself? Im typically an XL in shirts.

Mate I can't be a 100% certain with VH shirt sizing, but I'm an XL and that usually translates to 17.5. Hope that helps.

@givemethebestdeals: Measure your neck… the big numbers (41 etc) are cm, the small numbers are inches (16) as to sleeve length. 86 is short, 90 is regular and 92 or 94 is long. go slightly up in size as I've had some slight shrinkage of the shirts over the years, longer sleeves a re better in this regard then. apart from that all good!1
I ordered a bunch of shirts online last week, same size and fit as the ones I already had. Have bought VH for years.
The shirts however were all far smaller than the shirts I had. No way I could fit in them. Again, same size, same fit, same material. One of the shirts was even exactly the same as one I already had.
I haven't gotten fatter or changed size. I compared the shirts old vs new and the new ones were just smaller…
Sent them back, free returns.

Size 37/82 Euro fit.
I'll have to go in-store somewhere and try them on again to see if it was a "bad" batch or whether 37/82 Euro has somehow changed size.
I bought a few shirts in store a few weeks back, all same size. Of the 3, one was noticeably smaller than the others. Still fit, but not as comfortably as the others.
Sometimes I find the 100% cotton vs "Easy Care" are a bit different in size. (Cotton smaller). But have still fit in the past.
I have 5 VH shirts that all fit nicely, bought ~9months ago. The 4 I bought were all far too small.
Yes same here, bought 4 size 41/90 Euro fit last week and they are all slightly smaller than previously. Hems are slightly smaller and it's difficult to get hand out of cuffs without undoing buttons. Saying that I might still get 4 more at a larger size through this deal.
Same. The cuffs were too tight and the fit was also generally just smaller overall.
Next size up I think will be too big for me :(
I suppose for anyone reading, it would be worth trying some on in-store before buying online even if you have bought from VH before as it seems the sizing might be a little smaller than it used to be.
Normally free returns if you buy online though. So still safe if you're happy to return in the mail.
Bought the easy care business shirt at Costco today, tried it on and it was just a weird fit. Arms too long and shoulders stick up too much. Had to return.
Will stick to target/Kmart cheapies as they are somehow suited to a human body.

The cotton poly blends are generally considered iron free. That's all I buy and it is a big part of the reason I get van heusen as a good portion of their selection is blended. It's detailed in each shirts description. 100% cotton wrinkle like a hooded womb ferret on a cold day.

took 4 ….. wanted cotton, 41 collar, 86 sleeve and pocket ….. only 1 style like that, so took 4 ……. wearing same shirt style 4 times a week will cause enough rumours ….. 5 shirts they'd worry I only owned one work shirt and washed it on the weekend.
I have some of their easy care blend shirts but find I sweat too much in them so stick to the 100% cotton.

How do these compare to charles tyrwhitt in quality?
CT shirts still look new after a year. My VH ones show wear and fade within 3mths. The feel and fit of CT is so much better
I concur. VH fade after 3-6 months of regular usage.

Used to be. Now I have same size shirts that are far from standard. Cuff sizes, sleeve lengths and chest fit all vary despite all being the same size.

They're a tiny bit smaller than the old 100% cotton ones that I had previously, but they're still okay.
@spludgey: mine were a tiny bit smaller too. But I did choose european cut instead of classic cut. And I've lost weight, so smaller is good!

Shirts are good. I ordered same size and cut as previously (euro). Fit seems the same, but 1/2 of them have different cut at the bottom of the shirt - more curvy cut that old flat er cut.
