Fruit & veg must be expensive down there, I pay that (if not less) every day at the local fruit store!

No bargain here… it is crap quality… at least at my local one. I was there Saturday morning and the kiwi fruit was either bruised, rotten or overripe… Whatever the cause, it was disgusting…

I reckon supermarkets in different localities get different grades of fresh produce, like more blemishes etc and it can be cheaper at times.

      • That does seem to be my experience too! ;)

I have a mate who shops online with Woolies, he reckons the staff told him that they get the pick of the produce, the rest gets distributed to the B&M stores! :o

Can't vouch for this story myself, no direct experience of online grocery shopping with a supermarket! ;)

These maybe specials for people who only ever shop at the big 2 supermarkets but for those who frequent places like the Queen Vic market you'll know the supposed Coles "special" price is what you pay as a regular price at the market. Don't be fooled by slick advertising.

    • Well at least it is a bargain for those who dont have time to go to QVic Market. As coles stores are everywhere and yes it saves you petrol.

Local fruit shops are everywhere too, and the quality is much better… There's not point getting fruit and veg cheap if they've been sitting in the freezer all year and have been artificially ripened and taste like c#$p…

Supermarkets should be BANNED from using the work FRESH in the fruit and veg section… This is false advertising…

On that, my friend, we are in total agreement! :)

please no more customers…i work in fruit and veg…

    • same here! especially cutting up all the pumpkins and wrapping them.

  • These prices are also available at the NSW Coles (I bought them on Saturday). The Coles specials are generally cheaper than those offered at my local fruit and veg market in Randwick. And the pumpkin made a very nice soup and pie.

  • Great prices, thanks.

Do we really need to have every little item discounted by Coles/Woolies posted here?

    • -1

      I agree.

    • -1

Yes we do. We also need to have every single deal from every "deal" website listed here too.

  • yes, otherwise where do you draw the line? who decides what discounted items will be included and what won't? or is it because it's from a supermarket? i bought that Samsung mobile phone for $1 from Coles not long ago, was that not a good bargain? just list them all here and let us decide with our wallets!

    • A bargain is only a bargain if you needed it. A $1 phone is all well and good but if it is going to sit in a drawer and never get used it was a waste of $1.

    • Yeah, but how much did that $1 phone cost per kg? :p
