        Makes it easier for procurement, support and software maintenance. The hardware costs for the telcos are trivial on these models (couple of years old now, some can't replace batteries hence throw away when battery deteriorates), but they really hope that you will top up the SIMS.

        Need to remember, Ozbargain and Whirlpool users are a very small % of the customer base, most other people buy and top up or have it handed from work, or aren't tech enough and just really on the phone shop for support.

        How many people reflash and root phones vs just use the phone.

        The newer gen one like the Telstra 4GX Pro (E5787)…. yes locked as are the new 1G telstra modems.

      I have tried with expired T-Mobile / Vodafone / Optus sim cards, the modem actually checks if the sim can get service before saying the sim is locked. Had to use an active Optus sim.

          Sorry I can't do Huaweis at the mooment. Huawei has made is very hard to get codes off their systm.
