If only they'd checked with Oz Bargain first! LG Energy follow up

A couple of months back a great looking deal was posted for PV panels and batteries by a company called LG Energy Solutions (this was later moved to the forums). It's worth reading the thread (start half way down at the comment from @Duketing if your interested) for the back story

Anyway after some awesome sleuthing the company were put on the unofficial scam watch by OZB'ers
Clicked online this morning to find this

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/solar-…

Facepalm, why didn't they do their research on Oz Bargain, scam was called by OZB 27.03.17 company still actively scamming on 21.04.17

So we'll done to the main investigation unit… mskeggs, F1Maniac and duketing.

The only thing I would question is if the original post should have been moved to the forum? I say this as another OZB deal was opened up a few days by non other than LG Energy themselves…… later

Merged from LG Energy Solutions. Remember them? Turns out they were a scam

Their prices did seem too good to be true.

Thanks to those whose scam detectors were working. And to some who even put the detective work in.

Their 'deals' from April are below.

I don't blame the seller/OP. They were probably as misled as the customers were.

I'm just angry it seems like nothing can be done to catch the perpetrator or recover the money.

hopefully mods will mark all those posts in big letters as a Scam like we suggested - just incase someone does a google search for them.
looks like the sales people were taken for a ride too.

Like many Australians we beiieve ASIC will step in and save the day.

ASIC is always quick to fine companies who fail to pay ASIC fees, after that its abilities are limited.

How horrible for those caught in the scam.
This really could have been me - I was looking seriously into solar until recently.
Hope they catch the guy and string him up, but odds are they almost certainly won't since it's an overseas initiated fraud and scam.

You really want to take these scammers out to the woodshed for a good thrashing, don't you? We will be looking at Solar once the battery storage is practical (and I can recover from my round the world business class ticket costs, thank-you Ozbargain) I am concerned about the creeps out there who try to take advantage of people. Let's keep the good work up, people, and try to assist each other. Sounds like this creep scammed not only customers but his sales people as well. Just absolute SCUM.

  • WOW, I remember reading about this in OZbargain.. well done to those who figured it out.

    • Yeh, I was impressed that one OZB'ers went and took a photo of the supposed address. Apparently the official address was floor 27,the building it was in only had 23!

It's was a very well executed scam, it's no surprise so many got stung.

  • "You're looking at the LG logo wondering how this can be a fraud," she said.

    This says it all.

This is ATO website. I am tax man, you owe us money. Pay up or else basically.

It's actually pretty scary that something posted to ozbargain with a bunch of upvotes could easily have resulted in people purchasing and losing thousands of dollars they will never get back.
