Kogan's 12 month prepaid 10gb comes down to $21 a month and even cheaper using kogan gift cards.

Any idea where I can purchase discounted Kogan gift cards to make their 12 month plan cheaper still?

Have you successfully used Kogan gift cards for their prepaid mobile re-charges?

Thanks in advance for your help :-)

Pm-ed and yes some members here and I have succesfully done so.

        • Cheers, will check it out.
          Thanks for prompt reply.

        • Can you let me know too? Thanks.

        • @ChillBro: PM-ed too mate.

These plans aren't directly comparable though - Kogan uses the Vodafone network, while Vaya is on the Optus network. There's a big difference in coverage and speed in my experience; your mileage may vary depending on your needs and locale.

Vaya also offer the 12-month up-front payment option - the same deal costs $396, which works out at $33/month.

Coverage shouldn't matter too much as you can use the Optus network if you are out of Vodafone range (if you turn roaming on). I've done that and it works well.

For me Vodafone is actually quicker than Optus, mainly due to network congestion. I've done speed tests and could never get anywhere near the speeds what I get on Vodafone with Optus (in certain suburbs in WA).

I was hesitant to port from Vaya to Kogan but am very happy with the cheaper plan and MUCH larger download limits.

        • So are you saying Kogan use the Optus network as well as Vodafone network - when you activate roaming? I would get a Kogan plan for sure if this is the case…
Is it written anywhere on the Kogan mobile website and does it cost more when 'roaming'?

          @51kabunka:
Yes, Optus and Vodafone have an agreement. No it doesn't cost any more.

This article is a bit old (probably a newer one available) but will give you some more information about it:
          Optus and Vodafone Agreement

Note: Since you can't do international roaming anyway, you don't have to worry if you've left data roaming on whilst you're overseas.

Also, make sure you turn on voice roaming too.

I agree and disagree, agree that they are comparable to certain degree but not 100%. However I was mostly only pointing out that there are cheaper plans out there and I'm sure many members here would like to know too.

My experience is slightly different. True that Optus has more stable network but speed wise they aren't that different. I gladly save $13 a month on Kogan vs Vaya.

Agree. Just get what works best in your needed area(s) and what suits your budget best,….Period!

@ozhunter68: Yeah. I always get someone on each network to do speedtests for me. I do that with someone at work and at home too.

Just don't ask someone on the Telstra network to do the test as it will make you cry. Though after comparing phone bills and you'll feel a bit better being on Vaya/Kogan.

Fairly certain that Optus is $40 for 10gb and unlimited calls.

    • +1

its now $40 for 12gb now

    • If you're a student you get 10% off which makes it $36!

  • Vaya is playing catch up now, too little too late, Lebara has my services.

  • Dose anyone know Boost and Vaya which is better?
Im using boost 40/month 7gb per month now.

    • Vaya being slightly cheaper, but boost will have full Telstra coverage.

      • Although I like Boost I am still not certain if they really use the "full Telstra 3G/4G network coverage and speeds."

Using Lycamobile with different phone and can really feel a downgrade in my area compared to Telstra and maybe even Boost. I think it really depends on your area what types of mobile tower Frequencies your receiving whether it makes any difference or not.

        • Lycamobile is also Telstra, but not full coverage.

  • i got the 15GB for $50 optus BYO plan…when my plan ends at end of October i will be hoping higher data plans will be out…way things are heading i see 18gb for $50 as norm by end of year…i'm eyeing the 25GB for $70….i see it dropping to $60 as the price wars heat up

The name Vaya still gives the creeps when they were trying to sell it off to another party.
Could get no service from them despite the number of calls and messages.

The other one is a three-alphabet company. They are famous for their fine print.

    • Any hints on the letters? First one starting with T maybe?
