  • Good price for an IPS monitor.

Nah, still want a big deal on that U2711

    • You could buy 4 U2311s for the price of one U2711…

      • or 3 plus a stand ;)

I'm waiting for the LED 27" for the next upgrade.

      • If you have to ask, you dont need it =P

just joking guys dont take it so hard

        • +2

Lol, not much humour in a Dell deal dude! These kids get pretty darn serious about their monitors! ;)

    • Dell has started to introduce their LED range and the screen sizes are getting bigger.
My take is that the U24, U27 and possibly the U30 should be in the next round of heavy discounting.

  • U2311H is pretty awesome, I'm using 2 right now at work, 244 is a bloody good price.

  • I am using the U2311H that I bought for a similar price a couple months ago (thanks Ozbargain). A superb panel, only downside really is the lack of HDMI.

  • Nice bargain on the u2311H. Fantastic monitor with ips panel ( great viewing angle) and fast response time.

    • isnt 8ms not so great?

      • That's about standard. Places that advertise less than 8ms are generally measuring something different and measure about standard - I tested one of my Dell U2311H's against my Acer 24" that claimed 2ms, and the Dell U2311H beat the Acer by 3ms.

In the end, the response time doesn't matter that much for gaming, consider the fact both your keyboard and mouse are on an 8ms polling rate (and that's supported by only the good mice - they do support more, but windows does not) and htat there is plenty of latency in all sorts of places. Then consider that the human eye cannot detect things happening under 40ms, and you've got no problem.

  • yeah i want a 30" or 27" LED monitor :) with high rez

    What's Dell delivery costs like?

Depending on delivery costs ,there's a better price posted the other day for the 27" at least.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30586

    • Dell delivery is already included in the price

    • 27" for $798

  • in the real world whats better about IPS panels?

    • The plus to IPS

      viewing angle
Colour Depth ( almost twice as much colour )

      The negative IPS

complex manufacturer, so it costs more to make
Has a slower response time ( 2ms vs 6ms nothing to worry about really. )

      • +1

actually the colour 'depth' is not always greater than TN panels.

The colour gamut i assume you mean, is dependent on:
        1. backlighting
        2. colour filter put on the lcd panel

lower priced IPS displays are better, modestly, than the typical TN display. However you really have to check the specs to know for sure.

only the U2410, U2711 and 3008WFP at the moment in teh dell range, have greater than sRGB colour space.

The U2311, despite being ips, doesnt. it has sRGB, which is good enough for most.

        • what about the 2209WA?

  • Note you may not be overly happy with the U2311H as a graphic designer. There is a (approximate) 3% colour differential from side to center (the left side is a slightly blue and the right side is slightly yellow - a flaw in IPS themselves that is mostly recognizable on a black screen with 100% backlight).

I picked up three of these and they're perfect for what I use them for (high resolution gaming + university thesis work).

    • Really? So this flaw is present on the U2711 and 3008WFP?

      • No, the U2311H must have dodgy panels as all three of mine do it. My old 3008WFP didn't have this.

The dell website is crap. wanted the U2410 but the 15% nrma discount doesn't work because of the 10% promo going in. :(

edit: found a useful review for this monitor… i don't think i would get this as it doesn't support hdmi connectors.

    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2311h.htm

    • Getting a HDMI to DVI cable ain't no thang.

      • -1

its not my thang. never believed in getting a cable specially for a device that can't be reused for another similar device. My monitors all uses hdmi/hdmi so that i can plug to the TV with the same cable.. likewise with the rest of my computer peripherals - they share the same type of cables. talk about purchase decisions.. Heck, i even ensure my kettle power cable is the same as my monitor's! :P

        • its not that hard. Just get one off of ebay.

  • I'm in the market for an monitor, to use as a TV. Was considering the Acer X243H ($224), and the G235H ($160 after cash back), but maybe this Dell U2311H could be a better option.
What is the difference between LCD & LED, compared with TN, and IPS? Honestly never hear of TN and IPS before. :/

Also, it mentions a Display Port, what is that? Isn't that what the VGA and DVI are for?

People should use MoneybackCo for a further 8% discount. http://www.moneybackco.com.au/merchants/Dell/

    • Re MoneybackCo, I just went to sign up (planning to buy Dell stuff).

There was a message about MoneybackCo forming a partnership with iReward and I was given the option to sign up to either (although iReward apparently offers the same as MBC but without the $10 annual fee). Seems they are also encouraging MBC members to migrate over to iReward.

I've never heard of iReward, should I just sign up with MBC or go straight to iReward?

    • It is quite confusing to use MoneybackCo, could you list simple instruction on how to get the 8%? Cheers

      • Agreed; when I sign in to MBC and go thru the Dell site, this monitor is listed as $349 :(

If I click on the MBC link, then go back to dell.com.au I can navigate to the Dell Spring Sale; but does this earn MBC cashback?

    • LCD and LED are different back lighting technologies. Essentially LED gets to maximum brightness almost instantly compared to LCD.

TN and IPS are screen panel technologies, TN provides faster pixel refresh rates, while IPS provides better colour especially at off center viewing angles.

Display Port is another socket type just like vga and dvi. You'll be happy to know that they are all compatible with each other via adaptors.

  • Just ordered one
    Bloody awesome price

  • Can't resist. This is my fourth Dell monitor. Try with moneybackco but I believe it did not went well. I have entered the user name and password and it seem to have logged in but popped right out again…strange.

    • That's a problem with the site. log in from the main page and click to DELL.

Also, use IE instead of firefox.

  • Just ordered an U2311H monitor for $244.30! Happy with this purchase, thanks for the find kaotickelly!

  • I'm torn between the Dell U2311H for $244 (or $222.75 after moneybackco 8%), and the Acer G235H for $185 ($156 after acer cash back).

I've read that the Dell U2311H was $230 at the end of financial year sale, so i'm hoping that if i wait i can get a better price with using a 15% off coupon on top of a reduced price.

    • acer.. TN panel, no height adjustment/swivel/pivot, no usb ports

but if u want to wait a while to save at least $14..

      • Going to be using it as a TV, don't need usb ports. Same goes for height etc adjustment, not a real necessity.

Outside of this deal, i wonder if i can stack coupons. For example, a 15% off monitors coupon, + my racq 15% off coupon…? Wishful thinking?

If i had a bit more cash at the moment, i would probably just buy one now for $244 now.

        • In that case Dell for the better colour.

  • Just got the call that my monitor is being delivered the coming Monday (13th), 4 working days from ordering. Not bad I guess.

    Can't wait!

  • SALE IS STILL ACTIVE. As of 1:47am AEST.

  • Received my monitor today. So fast.

  • Installed it tonight. Beautiful colour. Just like my 24" and 27" Dell ultrasharp.
