Changed over yesterday ported from Vaya, took 30 minutes.
4G connection was strong after checking my settings that 3G wasn't set to preferred method of connection.

  • Which one has better customer service, Lebara vs Kogan? Thanks.

    • +1

I haven't experienced Kogan's customer service but Lebara took a few days to activate my service this month, a simple internal error that required talking to 3 people to resolve. I'm guessing they're probably similar, I doubt either invest much time and money into their customer service. Budget providers, budget service which is fine for 99% of the people 99% of the time.

    • +1

I'd say same2, budget mobile plans with 100% offshore CS.

  • Lebara doesn't have international roam just like Kogan don't right?

    • Right

  • +1

I am luvvin' these price wars!

  • What is the difference between it and the $7.90 - 30 Day SIM Pack - Unlimited Talk, Text & MMS + 5GB Data Plan her http://www.lebaraonline.com.au/30-day-sim-pack-unlimited-tal…

    • It's only for 30 days, so you buy that first and then buy the recharge to top it up.

      • So does that mean that you won't get $7.90 when you top up after 30 days expiry as this deal expires in few days whereas you pay $15pm with 360 days plan for 360 days?

        • This means when you buy the $7.90 deal and top up with this deal, you will get 390 days.

So you buy both before expiry, activate the SIM, you'll get 30 days and then enter voucher code in the Recharge menu to get 360 days more added.

    • No difference, treat the $7.90 as a trial offer (30 days only). FWIW I've been bouncing between Kogan and Lebara for several months never paying more than $5/month each time but it's not without dramas sometimes. Lebara last time took a few days to get my service activated after an internal error. It starts to get old churning back and forth every 30 days but is a heck of a lot cheaper.

      • It starts to get old churning back and forth every 30 days

Yep. I did it for a year and got sick of it. Now with Kogan and Telstra Air.

  • Genuine question (not trying to stir things up) - has anyone noticed Kogan is a lot faster than these guys? I've been switching between the 2 all year on various $1-5/month deals. Both use the Vodafone network but Kogan tends to be noticeably faster. Can't isolate it to my phone as my wife's been doing the same thing and has the same experience.

Could just be where I live but it feels like Kogan has the more premium service of the two.

    • Strange as Lebara is owned by Vodafone. It could be your APN settings?

  • Is this better than boost?

    • Voda <> Telstra

      • Were you trying to draw a pyramid? haha

  • I am using Vaya $17.6 plan, any port out fee?

    • +1

That was the plan I was on, no port out fee. Make sure to do it towards the end of the month. I am not sure if they will still charge you if you port out at the start of the month.

    • +1

Just don't wait till the last minute to order the sim card, you'd be disappointed.

      • Why? I planed to do so, so I can activate the SIM and port Vaya number out on the end of July.

        • At least with Kogan it takes couple weeks for the sim to be delivered. So better order now and only activate when needed.

  • My address won't validate when attempting to activate. Driving me nuts!!!!!!!!

    • and I'm forever on hold when trying to call…..

      aaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh………..

      • +2

Add a unit number to your address, activate then change the address. Eg. if your address is 123 First Lane, Sydney then type 1/123 First Lane, Sydney. It will pop up. It is a stupid system.

    • Same what did you do or they say

      • +1

They acknowledged the error which they said is being looked into, and activated me over the phone.

  • Is the unlimited national call for both mobile and landline?

    • Yep.

  • i am with TPG now, they use vodaphone. Generally reception is okay. So if i switch to Lebara I can expect same call and data speed quality as they also use vodaphone. They don't say that i can port a number to them in their website, but i thing this is standard. If someone can confirm me I will be very grateful.

    • Yes yes and yes.

  • Picked up the $29.90 sim from Coles to speed things up $10 no fly buys needed

  • My prepaid with Telstra ran out yesterday can I still port the number with no credit left ? To this company.. sorry have no
Idea when it comes to phones and companies

    Thanks

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

      Yes.
With companies like OVO though, no as they deactivate you the moment your credit rums out. Sly $#!ts

  • Hi,

I just purchased a prepaid sim from Lebara website for a discounted price at 50c! Is it ok to use that sim with this plan ($180 - 360 day National Plan 60GB in total )?

    • Yep, don't see why not. Use recharge option and put the voucher in.

  • Watch out if you are porting from Vodafone it may take days to get you connected so far it's been 3days and they say it could be another 3 days due to issues with Vodafone!

I ported from Telstra and took about 30mins but my wife is porting from Vodafone

  • -1

After talking to their customer service, I will never do anything be Lebara Phone even it's a free offer, not only they rude but also abusive in their language and manners. In my view, this company should not be allowed to operate in a civilized country like Australia.

    • Wow have called the about 4 times over the delay in porting from Vodafone they were real nice and apologised
About the delay and explained it all didn't wait that long to be answered a lot better service than I got from Telstra

Both our phones are now ported finally got my wife's ported today after 4 days

    • Spoke to them twice, nothing wrong with their customer service from my experience.

  • When the $5 international allowance runs out for the month. How do I get more of this without overriding the 365 prepaid?

    • +1

You can buy a pack just for that on your account page same if your data runs out

      International Call Pack - $5.00
      Expiry30 daysInternational calls wallet$6.00

Hmm. Are Lebara on ALL of the Vodafone frequencies?

Reason being is that I want to jump ship from Vaya (Optus). Bought a cheap lebara sim to test my reception and was fine at home (Brisbane Northside). I also had a Vodefone sim that I had forgotten about that I put in to have a look at data speeds at various places. Home is ok - 4g on Lebara. My place of work is in a blast proof building (again Brisbane Northside) and even Telstra reception is generally 3G inside the building. Vodafone is 1-2 bars of 4G inside the building but when I put in the Lebara sim (trying on both my iphone 5 and iphone 7) I can only get 3G. Tried multiple times on both phones, turning off / on data etc. Very odd, makes me think Lebara are not getting the full frequency ranges on their service.

  • I've just bitten the bullet, for my wife and me. Just wondering how one goes about porting their current number to Lebara. The site is a bit vague about how to do it.
This will be the first provider change for me since Three was bought by VF, was it over a decade ago?!

    • +2

When you activate your sim you request it on the first page . I ported from Telstra and took about 30mins wife ported from Vodafone and took 4 days was told it was an issue with Vodafone, but all good now also received our 360 day voucher today after ordering on Sunday

  • Has offer been extended because I can see a countdown clock that shows 27 days left.

    • 30th of June it looks like.

    • yay!

    • Yes and also the $7.90 starter kit offer has been extended by 10 days.

    • +1

That'd be right, I ordered one for my mum last night. She's got till September on a BYO Telstra plan, so will pay a little cancellation there….

It must be said I only just got a (lousy looking) email advising of some pin, nothing formal about the purchase/creating an account at all. Pretty average…

  • Does this deal also include $5 roaming similar to Vodafone which gives you access to your data, call and TXT plan inclusions while overseas?

    • No roaming. Try amaysim

      • .. thx..

  • Do I need to activate / recharge by a certain date? I've got a phone plan that goes on till September, can I activate / recharge this deal then?

    • +1

Depends when you purchase, looks like it has a 60 day expiry limit.

      • +1

Thanks, also asked Lebara, looks like SIM card itself has a 30 day expiry limit, and recharge pin is 60 days.

        • Thanks for clarifying, I originally stated on another deal there was a 30 day expiry, thought I was wrong, knew I saw it somewhere!!

  • Bought a $2 sim from Coles, tried to activate the sim via their website but couldn't get past the address page - it failed to find my address and even with the manual address entry wouldn't let me proceed. Same issue in a different browser so called them up, activated sim, ported from Aldi Mobile, bought this "recharge for existing customers" online, entered pin from email and was up and running within an hour.

Anyone else have an issue on the address page yesterday?

    • Yes it was noted in an earlier comment how to get it working if your house is no 26 put 1/26 and it will work

      • +1

Ah, wish i saw that comment - hopefully someone has reported it.

  • Is it possible to port to my existing mobile number after I have activated Lebara's $7.90 SIM?

  • Does Visual Voicemail work on Lebara?

    • Someone on Whirlpool say it doesn't, which is annoying as most Vodafone MVNO's do :(

  • I'm tempted, but the talk about some reception / frequencies not being the exact same as vodafone has me worried.
I'm with Voda currently and don't want to experience worse signal. Those who have gone from voda to Lebara, do you notice a difference?

    • Can't speak for Vodafone but I'm with lebara which has terrible reception.
If your life depended on it, you'd die.
I was trapped in a broken elevator with zero signal from lebara.
Thankfully there were other people trapped with me on Telstra who saved the day by calling security.
Come to think of it, the other person who had Vodafone also had no signal too.

      • That's crazy. Yeah maybe it was just poor signal in the area since both Voda and Lebara use the same…
Hoping someone can confirm if they have switched over and seen any difference. Voda is good in my area

        • It was in southbank which is just next to Melbourne CBD.
I was using an LG V10 and the other person was using an iPhone so I doubt the phones were to blame

  • My current pre paid month with Aldi mobile just started. I was wondering if I can buy the $9.90 starter pack, and also the $180 1 year pack and start them after my Aldi plan runs out? If so, how would I go about it? (offer says it ends 30th June)

Can I keep my number going from Aldi to Lebara?

    • Ive got the same Q - is there an activation deadline once you buy this?

      • +1

It's 60 days. This can be found in their T&Cs.

  • Anyone have this sim while travelling? I currently use boost and even when I let the credit lapse I could still receive SMS while abroad. Deal breaker if this doesn't allow it.

  • +1

Not sure if Lebara is worth it. Been using it for a month now.

    • Calls and text, no problem, all good
    • 4G, yeah, that's why it's cheap, it's not as stable as Vaya for example and the speed is very erratic and today, have an exclamation mark on my 4G signal for the last 5 hours

You get what you pay for, sad.

With that in mind, I can't recommend Lebara anymore. Hopefully it improves, got 12 more months of this haha!

    • Where about's are you located? I bought a Lebara starter pack as a test service 3 days ago and have found the data speeds and coverage about the same if not better than Telstra both at home and in the city (I live in Sydney's lower north shore).

      • Melbourne CBD.

I used the APN that came with the SIM, no issues until one day boom, no service. I called and they reset my number, didn't work. Then after calling, they gave me new APN settings, which worked straight away. Better than what I had before.

It's good, but it's not better than Vaya. Tested with certain games, Clash Royale on Lebara, there's noticeable lag, not with Vaya. Again, can't complain for the price when it's working, but I hope I don't get another episode. Think I will be fine with the new settings.

I must say though, their customer service is great. No long wait times on the phone and actually help you out. So big plus there.

        • Interesting. I'm considering pulling the trigger on 2 of the 360 day 5GB packs for me and my wife. I am just sick of Telstra's patchy data speeds and congestion around Sydney CBD. I've heard the voda network has hugely improved over the last few years.

        • +1

          @jesse085: Worth a try. It's great atm.

        • @justmiike: Thanks, I finally pulled the trigger on 2x 360 day 5GB packs. Lets hope I don't regret it!

  • Has anyone received their sim cards? I purchased two, received 1 sim card but no instructions on the $180 voucher.

  • How long to activate this?

  • Ordered over 2 weeks ago and still no SIM pack. Not a good start.

    • You can just buy a sim from elsewhere and activate the code for the plan online.
