    $148-20%=118.40
118.40-20= 98.40 for fttn compatible modem router

  • DSL.. so that's FTTC compatible as well right?

    • does dsl if you are on dsl and of course like most devices will take ethernet from a coax or fibre modem which nbn supply as part of the install.

    • Not really sure

    • More like FTTN compatible.

    • FTTN and FTTC will need a VDSL modem so this would work it's only FTTP that just need a router

I'm using a Xiaomi AC 5Gb dual band router that I'm satisfied with. They're available on eBay for around
    $35 delivered .. :-0 .. !!

Not relevant as this Asus product is a router and modem.

  • I'm looking for a good and cheap wireless router as mine keeps dropping connection if too many devices connect to it. Any suggestion?

      TP-LINK Archer C7 perhaps?

    • Consider ubiquiti AP lite? I got over trying all in one solutions as they never worked well for me in terms of range coverage so ended getting one to do all my wireless deeds and it's been great.

Was looking for a good replacement to the tpg huawei modem

I have this device and don't rate it.
Full feature set, but I found the WiFi unstable. After a time it says it is connected, but times out.
Switch to the other band and it is fine. Not sure if it is a memory leak or dhcp issue, and don't have the patience to work it out.

    • Strange, I have this as well and fine it great! (For the price.) Obviously if you had the money you'd get the DSL-AC68U… but this is the cheapest and most feature rich VDSL modem I could find.

One thing though, it doesn't have a local DNS server (my old modem did and I assumed they all should), so you have to use IP addresses for local computers instead of just typing in hostnames.

    • Might want to try the latest firmware (1.1.2.3_224) too: https://www.asus.com/au/Networking/DSL-AC52U/HelpDesk_Downlo…

      - Fixed possible WiFi Tx hang issue.

        Thanks for that.
One thing I will agree is they have kept issuing firmware updates, which is very good to see.
