  • Revolutionary design

    This spins me out

    • sounds like a lot of spin.

  • +3

this would have been better if the lights power was generated by the spinning action.

Or if they randomly caught on fire

      • would look spectacular if it was the note 7 of fidget spinners.

    • this would have been better if the lights power was generated by the spinning action.

If you want that, look at some of the gyroscopic spinners with LEDs inside them (NSD spinner), if you haven't already.

These are actually a different type of spinner, useful for building up wrist strength, etc (and predate these toys by ages). The little LCD counters some of them use contains a disposable battery, but you don't have to get one with a counter. The LEDs glow by the spinning action alone. Can get some crazy fun designs. Also cheaper non-LED versions are available of course. Takes a little while to get the hang of starting them but once you learn it's like riding a bike (and they perform a useful function beyond the novelty factor).

Whoa … $139 for a NSD Spinner. Not really aimed at kids, or a toy.

        • That can't be right. Where are you looking?

        • @cheepwun:

Oh … I went to http://nsdspinner.com/ and only looked at the New Arrivals that appear on the front page.

After I saw your comment, I went back and looked at the whole site and see that they start at around $25.

          Sorry for jumping the gun.

        • @karnage1020:
A search for NSD powerball might be beneficial too. Ages ago I had mine imported from the UK. Quite cheap but obviously several times more expensive than a fidget spinner (but then again, not a comparable device, tech-wise). Lots of youtube videos to see what they look like.

  • Not sure what the craze is about but if you need to fidget you can always get your hands in your pocket! ;-)

  • Thanks! I will have 2 happy sons :)

    Banned in australia.
    Exibit A
    Exibit B
    Exibit C

All similar articles, explaining how these can kill someone…

    Reason for negative vote:

    • Not available to Australia.

    • Major issue with product.

    Thanks for your post though…

The Nanny State needs bans to justify the impression they are protecting you (ha! might want to check the food supply…) while they never reveal how much they spend 'protecting you' while siphoning off your taxes. I wonder what the per capita figure is? If we knew we'd be outraged.

Who will protect us from the environmental damage of disposable batteries? What about junk foods with (unlabelled) GMOs and countless toxins? What about vague country of origin (made from local and imported ingredients)? And what about allowing corporations to use the ingredient "flavour" when describing an ingredient below a certain percentage? The taxpaying slave has no idea. I say we put forth a new gov department to deal with disposable batteries. More taxes to siphon off, so the masses don't have to think about such matters for themselves.

Whether someone wants to take the safety 'risk' importing this product should be entirely up to them. Not a decision for an overpaid government department (which are the first Phat Cats that should be banned).

Anyone got any yet? Been a month now and there is nothing here yet

    • Obviously I didn't order, but keep us informed.

  • Got mine last week, and two of them are faulty

the battery is fully "sealed" with super glue - should be safer than those replaceable

  • Finally showed up, three received and all three seem to work
