  • Must be a crazy monitor

    • Because it is :)

How many would you need to form a circle of them around you?

    • It depends on the curve angle.

Without calculation, it looks you need more than 50.

I was curious about your question (and had time to kill).

Apparently the monitor has a 3800R curvature (will form a complete circle with a radius of 3800mm if joined together).

      2 x Pi x R = Circumference

      2 x 3.14 x 3800mm = 23,864mm

      23,864mm = 939.5 inches

Since the monitor is 34 inches wide, that's 28 monitors required all the way around, and a very big room to set them up in!

(I'm bored at work as you can tell :))

34 inches is the diagonal dimension, brohemian.

        • And here I was thinking how clever I was, and I stuffed up on the easiest bit :).

Just regoogled it, and you're right… diagonal dimension is 34" and actual width is 32.2". However, if you follow the curvature (because we are working on circumference), the surface width 'wrapped around' would be pretty damn close to 34"!

I stand by my initial calculation of 28 monitors… albeit under a slightly different methodology ;).

        • @UFO:

          I accept your apology

    • +2

Radius of curvature is approximately 3800mm, width of approximately 800mm, so you'd need about 30.

So you could have only made a third of a circle with this deal unfortunately.

    not worth it IMO

with new monitors coming out shortly with HDR, high refresh rate and Gsync/Freesync

    best to wait it out

Agreed. Plus the best price on this that I know has been 1299 pickup 1341 delivered. Derped on price, it is cheapest ever.

The X35 blows the X34 away as far as specs: HDR, 1000nits, 200Hz and very high contrast. I forget the contrast specs but they're very good which does amazing things to image quality.

      • But you end up with a lot of nits.

      • Would the image quality be as good as IPS though?

    • +2

and the X35 will probably be well over 2 grand on launch. Depends how deep your pockets are or how patient you are when it comes to price drops.

      • Hopefully Quantum Dot Tech keeps the price down

    • Are they also IPS though? They will be $2k easily with HDR. I do agree they'd be better, but the prices will be absurd.

  • I bought this for $1400 something a few months ago and will never regret it. Flawless monitor. Just a great piece of kit.

  • It's up to $1,378.00 now
