  • Hmmm, kind of betting that the 30% off the ps+ sub can't be in combination of the battlefront ultimate deal. Not sure which to go for now.

    • I'm hoping that it will just be able to stack onto whatever existing PlayStation Plus membership you may have.

      • +2

Will stack on existing, but with this through PSN store, it's only one time

Save 30% on the first 12 months of an annual PS Plus membership and enjoy PS4 online multiplayer, two games every month, exclusive discounts and even more member benefits.

You can buy the cards for $49 from Big W however and continue to stack - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/311638

        • Awesome, I missed the big w deal. Would rather that then give Sony my credit card details

        • +2

Just bought one from JB (digital delivery)…. only $34.27 there for 12 Months of PS+…

          https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/playstati…

        • @Graffin:

I got two, I expect them to be cancelled.

        • @Graffin:
Thanks Graffin. Just about to buy elsewhere then saw your comment. Bought 2.

        • @Graffin: Thanks for the heads-up on that deal - don't think anything can possibly compare to that value.

        • @Graffin: And looks like they've taken removed the 12 months completely from their website. Hopefully they'll still honour the people that purchased at the lower price beforehand.

        • @maskedmustelid:

I'm sorry the JB deal didn't quite go as expected, though i've received my refund as well as their $14.70 gift voucher (goodwill gesture) and purchased the card for essentially the same price.

I think others that only purchased one card will receive the same email apology and bonus $14.70 gift voucher in a separate email.

      • Actually you HAVE to have acurrent membership. I don't have one and it says i am unable to purchase because i dont have a current membership.

        • Not true.

If you don't have existing membership, buy the card from JB or EB (in-store or online, your choice) and you'll have 12 months from the day you enter the voucher code you receive.

If you have an existing membership, it will extend your membership by 12 months.

    • Pretty sure you can stack. Did that last time a sale was on.

      • stack but how many can u stack on an existing membership. i plan to buy like 5???

        • I think it's 3 x 12 month memberships that you can stack at a time.

        • +1

          @Big Dog:

I just read a Reddit comment that said they had 6 years. Gran of salt needs to be taken.

I would buy a couple and apply code, then buy one more, apply code, and keep going until you can't I guess. If you can apply 5 then great, but sucks to get to 3 and still have two to redeem that you wont be able to do.

How is the 30% discount on PSN Plus accessed? can you please elaborate? can't seem to access it.

      "Sale starts Friday 9th June

Grab an incredible deal on PlayStation consoles, games and more between 9th-17th June – and huge discounts on games from PlayStation Store until 21st June."

  • really.. i just bought playstation plus like 3.5 hours ago T_T

    • +3

There is a cancellation window for PS Plus subscriptions. Cancel and resubscribe at the cheaper rate. I've done this in the past and highly recommend it.

      • how?

      • plz teach me, literally renewed for a year 2 days ago

      • how?

      • alright thanks. ill look into it and see what happens.

    • +1

      just stack it

  • can you add the 12 month sub on top of your current sub? ie cancel current (renewed the other day) and then sub to the 12 months?

    Cheers

    • +6

It adds on top of your existing subscription.

  • Just bought 12m ps plus last night

    Coles price protection pls

  • +1

    30% off RRP.

The DS4 controller for $70 is not that great since it can be found cheaper than that from time to time. Headset still too expensive.

The consoles have been cheaper also.

    • This is generally the base price across all retailers, they mostly add their own value (like JB yesterday which was down to $279 for the 500GB)

      • I know. I'm just saying that whenever they use words like "huge sale" or "30% off" and it's based on the RRP, it's not as impressive as it sounds, because retailers regularly sell it for below RRP anyway, so 30% off of RRP is not that big a saving over regular deals, if at all.

    • Target have the new DualShock 4 for $58 dollars this week.

      • The image in their catalogue is the old one.

      • there's a new dual shock???

I have the ps4 controller that came with it, wasn't even aware there was a new model out?

Are the $68 ones for sale at eb games also this 'old ' dualshock? what will the new have?

        • It has a lightbar on the touchpad and the ability to play games over USB cable rather than Bluetooth. Other than that, nothing substantial.

        • @Captain Howdy:

The texture of the sticks improved too.

  • For 30% off I'll consider renewing my ps plus membership for that odd football game online.

Wish there was a cheaper sub for online play as the PS Plus monthly games don't interest me.

  • +1

What's the PS plus cost with the 30% off?

  • +1

Can I buy two PS Plus and stack for 24 months in addition to my current subscription which will end in Sep?

    • yes you can

    • I think it's up to 3 years, happy to be corrected.

    • Big W is also selling the physical cards for $49. Might be better to stock on these instead?

      • Where is a link to that deal? I have searched and can't find it.

        Edit: I see - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/311638

      • Will physical cards expire?

        • +1

Yes, 12 months after purchase date. So you have 12 months to redeem, and you can redeem at least 3 subs I think.

        • @snuke: at least 3? does that mean i can redeem 5 on my existing membership?

        • @shakah:

No idea, someone said they thought 3 was the max.

        • @snuke:

Why get the physical cards for $49 if the same voucher from eb games/jb?

I was told by eb that these voucher printout codes for the membership don't expire? So you could buy 5 and redeem 3 if your worried (if 3 is the max stack) then leave the other 2 for another yr or two?

My only worry is a) are they legit in the know-how that these digital vouchers don't expire and b) what happens if you stack more than 3 memberships lol. I would be keen to know if you just lose the extras, or they jsut sit idle/can't be loaded?

        • +1

          @SaberX:

Whoever told they don't expire is an idiot. This would be on the printout:

          NOTE:
This voucher code is issued by Sony Interactive Entertainment Network Europe Limited. Expires 12 months from date of purchase.

Remember to buy with Cashrewards 5.55% off Woolworths eGift Cards available now until tomorrow.

  • I have a Canadian account, am I able to buy that ps plus sub through the au store or do I have to buy it through Canadian store?

    • Have to buy through the Canadian store.

    • Canada will have deals as well. You can decide to buy the PS plus on your canadian account or aussie account depending on the prices that you prefer. I have a Canadian Account with 1 year PS Plus and I set that account as Primary Ps4 to play on my Aussie Account.

If I wanted to add more to current sub I would have to buy it through the Canadian Store.

    Target's PS4 sale - Dualshock for $58

    Catalogue page 13
    https://d3i63g6yqk8ui8.cloudfront.net/imageicon/trg/prod/j00…

    • Is that an alright price? I haven't kept up with online ordering prices for the dualshocks, but do they ususally go for this price on sale? I have enoguh controllers (2) as i basically play by myself. But if they're usually alot further north of $70 i could hoard a spare incase mine breaks.

I heard someone mention something about a 'new dualshock' also?? Is there a second version of the ps4 controller coming out that's better/worth waiting for ? or is it minor changes?

  • +1

Hoping but not hoping for some decent game deals. Would be nice if they advertised them in advance though, as I'm likely picking up Horizon at Target and need to know if I should save some $$$ >_<

    • Yeah, I'm likely heading to Target to pick that up today, too. I'd prefer digital, but I highly doubt that the PSN price is going to be better… That said, I've gambled and got this wrong in the past!

      • I've been told that the equivalent sale for the US PSN will be for USD$40, so it's unlikely that the AUS PSN price will be better than Targets.

      • The target catalogue states that the Playstation deals start from tomorrow. I hadn't noticed that and they discounted Horizon for me today, but it is still scanning at $79 at the moment.

        • I'm gonna give that a try this afternoon - saves me having to go outside tomorrow on my day off.

  • Apart from the PSPlus the rest isn't great.

  • Does anyone know if the 12 month PS+ sub will be a code or will be redeemed instantly? Not going to have access to my PS4 till September, so hoping I can avoid redeeming this till then?

  • One thing to note regarding prices - they are listed as being "under" a certain price.

Eg. A DS4 controller is under $70. What will this mean regarding the final price? I'm not sure…

    • +1

It's a base price that all retailers participating will be under, as someone has posted above Target has DS4 for $58

  • Why are people saying the headset isn't a good buy?
I haven't yet seen it for sale under $85 before…

    • I paid $79.20 for my headset in Feb last year when they were $99 at Target on eBay less 20%…

    • I was talking about the platinum headset, which I'm pretty sure is not 30% off.

  • Contemplating whether or not 12 m ps+ with starwars or standalone ps+…

    • +1

      why not both?

buy the 12m bundle, then buy a PS+ 12m card from Big W for $49

    • I already had PS plus when I decided to purchase Star Wars Ultimate Edition separately. BIG mistake. Don't get me wrong, the game looks amazing and plays pretty well, but there's a lack of progression for me. There's nothing that's pulling me back into the game everyday, compared to something like Grand Theft Auto where there's always something new and fun to do. I know they are two separate games, but only one has me wanting to come back. I think what had me wanting to play this was the feel of nostalgia in the Star Wars universe. However, that only lasts for so long. I pulled the trigger cause it was only ~$25 I think, and I'm happy I didn't pay ~$50 on previous sales. Just my opinion, but I'd say give it a miss.

      • I pulled the trigger cause it was only ~$25 I think, and I'm happy I didn't pay ~$50 on previous sales.

I purchased the Ultimate edition on release, well technically pre-order as it was the say before release.
$180 game, I got a 20% off code from Sony a few days before it came out, so $148.72, purchased with discounted PSN cards meant it cost me $101.29.
Played it a decent amount, not a tonne, mostly Fighter Squadron mode as I felt the rest too boring. Stopped playing until DLC came out, and played for 30mins each time until next DLC.
        A crappy $101.29 spent.

GTA V was a worse buy though, got the PS4 version on release, played it for bout 45mins to 1 hour, never been back.

  • What if I already a ps plus member and use a 12month code…. does it add on to the end?

    • Yes, you can stack cards. The PSN store deal is a discount on the first on only.

  • I don't really play online on ps4 so should I still get ps+?

    • Perhaps for the 24 free games from PS+ for the year?

      • Not worth it for the free games only.

    • +2

I've had it for 4 years. It was great in the beginning, but when Sony started to run away with the console war against Microsoft, their efforts started getting lackluster and have been for years. You are getting mostly indie games and many of them you either haven't heard of or don't want. The gems are few and far between. I only pay to maintain access to the older titles handed out. Xbox's offerings have been better, which is a result of them now needing to play catch up to Sony. Their fortunes have reversed.

I wouldn't recommend it right now if you are not playing online. Mine expires end of the year and I think I will let it lapse. Save that money and just buy the games you want instead. The bonus is you get to keep the games. You won't get as many games, but you weren't going to play every one of them anyway (or even half of them) were you? If you take one year's worth of PS+ cost and buy only flash sale games with it, you get quite a lot of good stuff and none of the chaff.

Also, there's a trick to save money. If you buy one month at a time, you can buy it in the middle of a month, and for one month's membership you can get 2 months worth of games (the games will change over before your membership is expired). Then wait another month, then buy another 1 month. In a year you will have only bought 6 months worth of PS+ but have 12 months worth of games. However, you only have one month to play 2 months worth of games. Only do this if you play a lot, or you don't play them all anyway.

      • Once your membership expires though - do you lose access to play already installed/downloaded games? or even update them? I assume that's the catch - if you don't renew your ps plus you lose access or updates? If not then that's great!

        • You lose your ability to play them. They remain installed. Not sure about updates, but that shouldn't matter if you can't play them.

        • @lostn:

yeah true, except when you want to keep updates going until you reapply your ps+ membership. sucks that you can't keep them though to play (without updates) but i guess there's a commercial reasoning behind that.

    • Yes

      • Oh man I remember you from the PS3 Street FIghter days agaist your T-Hawk or something.. Man that guy made me rage so hard I could never touch online games again lol

        • Whats your psn

  • Awesome deal on ps+ better then 1 month free deals In the past

  • So we will see deals on EB Games, JB hi-fi besides BigW, Target and Harvey Norman?

    • +1

      Yes. That is my understanding.

      • nice! That will be good to see, more options for me. Will see what digital deals US/Canada offers, then decide on Aussie deals.

  • +3

A piece of general advice to anyone looking to pick up any model of PS4 and comparing hard drive sizes:
Don't overestimate the value of a larger hard drive inside the console. The PS4 now supports external hard drives for extending storage capacity, and there have been plenty of good deals floating around on OzB (1TB external drives for $60-70, 2TB for $90-100). It might not be worth paying $70+ for a 1TB hard drive instead of 500GB when you can get better results using an external.
