Personally I prefer the look of the $19.90 one which we have in our #2 loo.

Keep in mind the material of this one is polypropylene whereas Aldi's is duroplast. See toiletseatfinder for a comparison. In short, duroplast is the better choice. So unfortunately, no deal and have to downvote as everyday price.

Everyday price < 'Bargain' price = better deal.

Unless Systmworks had done the research, I wouldn't have known otherwise and (wrongly) assumed that Aldi was the cheapest option.

But you might be right about the types of plastic; if duroplast is better then that skews the balance in favour of Aldi.

I only know because I was in the market for a self close toilet seat, did the research (I know.. who researches toilet seats but hey I'm half German - we take our shit seriously) and in absence of a bargain went to Bunnings to buy the cheapest duroplast self close seat for $51.89. Unfortunately, my Bunnings only stocked the more expensive model. Annoyed as hell I went then to check out the polypropylene one but the difference in quality is HUGE. So considering the accumulated time one will spend on this I had to go with the more expensive model which is 3,5x the price of the Aldi model. Long story short, polypropylene is crap and not worth the $15, especially not if Aldi has a real BARGAIN for a duroplast model coming up…

I've had my soft close polypropylene Bunnings toilet seat for more than a year now, is used daily, and is still is in perfect 'as new' condition.
Given that you'll sit on it for less than 5 mins per day, you are over thinking things if you think that the plastic makes any noticeable or realistic difference.

Buy the Aldi one if you like, buy the Bunnings one if you don't have an Aldi close, whatever, it's a toilet seat, it closes softly, it does its job either way.

Not a toilet set cover expert here. How come you would want a self close toilet seat? Is it one of the those toilet seats that would fall on its own? Kinda problematic for a male who's pissing.

This is the funny haha comment

No timer on these.. u need to pull it in a direction and let gravity do the rest… just comes down slower

        • @Suspect420:

Haha okay, maybe my sister's friend's toilet seat cover is just shitty.

        • @ronnknee:
          Soft close, not Self close.

Rather than slamming down hard with a clatter after you finish, its nice and quiet and silent and slowly closes the lid when you have finished and give it a slight closing touch.
A little touch of elegance, nothing more.
(it was the same price and better quality than the others I found at Bunnings when I brought mine, it's still a bit weird to leave the toilet and the lid is just closing it self softly).

        • @Wolfy:

dynamike said "self close" twice so I thought it was intentional.

        • @Wolfy:
It's a feminist conspiracy, when my bathrooms were re-done, the cisterns were in wall style and the buttons are now behind the seat when it is up.
This means to reach the flush I have to close the seat, I have a soft close on #1 loo but I may grab another soft close seat for #2 loo.

If 49% of the population is male shouldn't we leave the seat up 49% of the time?

        • @Flattop:
Your statistics need more detailed analysis, unless you stand up for both #1 & #2.

        • @Wolfy:

No It's a revenge thing… put it up all the time….

Upvoting, JUST BECAUSE you've gone and done thorough enough research on toilet seats to find the community a better price than Aldi.

Bravo! Honestly, I never wanted one until these two deals popped up.

Dammit OzBargain, you're supposed to be saving me money!! (said every OzB addict ever :P)

      Invalid positive vote, reported.

  • I had these on a couple of my toilets until I upgraded the whole suite. They installed really easily.

  • The 2nd one is showing $24.90 and both are poly whereas aldi is duroplast (sturdier)

    • Sorry, I had 3 tabs open and copied the wrong link. Corrected.

    Something about this deal stinks..

This is the everyday price. Not a deal

    • Normally Id agree with you. But since people are losing their minds over a soft close toilet seat for as little as $20, I thought it would be remiss not to point out a couple of other similar or cheaper and more available options. I also mentioned it in the comments on the Aldi deal quite a few hours ago.

Good points above about poly vs duroplast (I leant something) - but since popular Aldi deals often sell out in a few days (or hours) per store, many readers may miss out getting one at Aldi. And these poly ones will still last for years.
However for $20 each way Id agree the Aldi one sounds better, but if not available the $20 at Bunnings will still be a great alternative to LOUD BANG seat.

Shitty he didn't spot the Aldi deal so now he's taking a number 2 all over it.
