Yes you could buy a $150 stroller that does the same thing (take child from A to B). BUT just like a car - We pay more for luxuries or something that is pretty.

These prices are comparable to second hand prices and premium/popular strollers do have a better resell value.

  • Never seen them close to that price before. We have the Alta, bought about 2 years ago (or slightly under). It's great, very versatile. Wife complain endlessly though about the wheels and how much better a bugaboo is. So yes, it's great but the wheels HAVE been acting up (locking up and making it hard to turn). Also make sure your wife doesn't have another pram in hear head, in which case it's just easier paying extra for the one she wants If we are an isolated incident, I'd highly recommend it. But google it to make sure it's not common.

lube always helps with a complaining wife :)
Yeah I've noticed my front Alta wheels don't swivel well after 18months of use - I just lube it and it perfect. There is also a lot of hair that can get caught in the wheels.
They did update the Alta "shocks" and wheels in 2015 which is what we have and it's been pretty good.

  • Having used a bugaboo cameleon for my two kids for a good 5 years, I'd highly recommend spending the little extra over this pram to get that instead.
Build quality is amazing and imo the bugaboo looks better.

We had the bugaboo cameleon and after endless complaining from my wife we now have the uppababy vista.

I wouldn't recommend either of them outright; I would recommend trying what's on the market and get the one with the features that are important to you.

      • I'm in the endless complaining phase, but the other way around (she wants the bugaboo). Out of curiosity, could you share the complaints your wife had?

        • +1

Have a look at the baby jogger city select. Prob doesn't look as good as the bug but it's rock solid and very flexible

        • I found bugaboo to have an inferior basket compared to vista/alta

        • She didn't like the way the bugaboo folded, the aesthetics and the lack of basket space. The brake was also kinda weird.

No bad reports on the vista thus far, but she's only used it once.

        • I had the same discussion with my wife when we bought the Bugaboo Cameleon and was looking at the Alta.

          Pros of Cameleon:
          Branding
          Looks good
          Has bassinet for newborn

          Pros of Alta:
          Folds easier
          bigger basket

          Cons of Cameleon:
Not easy to fold without either the dirty wheels touching your clothing, or bits of the pram where bubs can touch hitting the floor (ie, bad for wet weather)
Basket is useless in bassinet mode - can't access at all. Even with pram mode, it's a pain to access
In pram mode, it can't fold and needs to be seperated - make sure your boot is big!
Very bulky! It's quite hard to manoeuvre around tight shopping areas with the massive rear wheels.

          Cons of Alta:
          Newish 'premium' brand
Lowest setting of handlebar is quite high - we aren't tall people
Folding mechanism (just like majority of brands out there) is held by this clip. I feel like it can snap any moment and each time I had asked a baby shop about it, they don't have an answer about it being replaceable
No bassinet included so need to purchase seperately - yes only used for 6months, but that's when you need it most.

In the end, of course I let the wife chose, and she went for the brand… haha. Don't regret it but I'm always thinking about the 'what if we bought the Alta"….

        • @blacknwhite1:
Price Cameleon is around $1200 normally
          Alta is around $800 normally

        • @MountFranklin: yea but if you add the basinnet option for the Alta, the prices are very similar.

        • @blacknwhite1:
But $450 for alta with bassinet which is easily bought for $160 then its hard to beat.
The bassinet is one of three brands in australia that is overnight sleep approved. We had our daughter sleeping in it on a rocking stand for three months in our bedroom and when we travelled - beats a portacot

  • I presume the Vista is the 2016 model given the code. Accessories are expensive and the ride along board they sell only fits the 2015 model. Will show the wife and let her decide. $50 for a cup holder? yeah nah.

    • The vista has been the same since 2015 in terms of design and build. Theres only new fabrics which was introduced in 2017

      • Well, a few sites I have looked at have specifically said for 2015 model only, I dont think i'll take that risk.

  • purchased! thanks heaps.

we were looking at the cruz (i.e. newer model) but at this price, prepared to save $500 and get this one.

    • Yeah its just marketing. Cruz just has more luxurious fabrics which will get dirty.

  • Dead? Code doesn't seem to work.

    • +1

code only works on certain colours

      • Odd as I tried the yellow and blue. Shrugs. Didn't need one anyway. Just mulling it over as a spare. Thx tho!

Edit: I didn't scroll to the end of the page. I was looking at the top price still.

        Disregard I'm a spaz.
