With recent consolidations in the online travel booking industry, competition has waned and real discounts have been thin on the ground. However this offer from Hotels.com in the UK works at the full 12% (not like the token discounts of CheapTickets) AND you can book in $Aus. It does work, I used in for a December Breckenridge, Co ski lodge booking and saved heaps. .. :-) .. !! Edit: Caution, this is an offshore $Aus charge and your credit card may apply fees and charges, best use 28D (or equivalent) .. !!

  • AND you can book in $Aus

I'd rather book in GBP with a 28 degrees card. you'll most likely get a better conversion rate with mastercard.

    • Mmmm .. intrigued I checked as I ran 28D transactions in both GBP and AUD yesterday. And you know you are right, the Hotels.com UK site converted at .5908 and 28D used .5918.

      • most sites use a higher conversion rate that what is provided through visa / mastercard if you choose to pay in a currency that is not local.
some sites it's hugely different - im actually impressed it was only .0010 difference at hotels.co.uk

  • Thanks OP - interesting.

"You can’t collect or redeem Hotels.com™ Rewards nights when you use this coupon."

Will cash rewards still be payable if using this code?
Note on the Aust site without a code, Cashrewards plus Hotels.com™ Rewards is worth approx 12%, however if cash rewards is still payable using this code, then this code is preferable.

  • Usually using a code will also decline cashback.

On topcashback.co.uk you can get cash back with rewards at 10% without rewards 12%.

    • 10% rebate plus Rewards nights Sounds too generous. ~ 17-18%
I am reading thru topcashback & looking for tricks/traps with this.
Has anyone got experience for topcashback with hotels.com ?
I signed up to topcashback a year or 2 ago when they had an offer of Earn £5 just for signing up. I never got the £5. Maybe I failed to meet other T & C's.
Note there is a random referral to topcashback https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/topcashback.co.uk#refinfo…
Currently double Tell-a-Friend bonus of £15.00 plus a £5 M&S eGift card for your friend!

      • +1

the 5 quid is usually awarded to the referer and new account after the first transaction processed through TCB i do believe.

To receive your Tell-a-Friend bonus, the person you have referred must sign up to TopCashback from
your link and earn £10 payable cashback or more.
(looks like they have changed it)

i've been using topcashback for over 5 years now, i first started using them when i was living in the UK for a tier 5 visa.
I've never had a problem redeeming cash back - in fact i found the dispute resolution process a lot better than cash rewards and the rebates generally greater in %.

I still use it to book for accommodation but less frequently as i do not know what to do with amazon gift cards these days. I've accumulated over 300gbp in TCB in my account and probably 80% was for hotels, hostels and the like.

I've had a payout of hotels.com with TCB but not through the rewards aspect.

When in doubt always go for discount upfront!
