Universal Battery Tester AA/AAA/C/D/9V/1.5v Button Cell Battery Checker BT-168 $2.59 Delivered @ vbum8444 on eBay

Better than the digital version recently listed https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/312474#comment-4777426 as there is more drain from the analogue components, giving a slightly more accurate indication of the battery's true state. Plus its guide of red and green give a more idiot proof answer.

A digital LCD is far better, in my opinion. Different chemistries will have slightly different voltages. A fixed REPLACE / LOW / GOOD display isn't ideal. The digital model should be more resistant to shock too.

    • I agree with this comment as I have this exact model.
can you recommend any digital ones?

      • BT-168D is what you can search for on ebay (or follow the link in the description).

      • The digital version of this one is very good for the price, and contrary to the OP's assertion is way better/more informative than this one.

    • Excellent find. That's why my analogue ones work better!

  • I paid for the digital version of this. No complaints

  • I paid for both the digital and the analogue versions. I now have 3 analogue and just the original digital that I only use if I cant find one of the others. That may tell you my preference.

See all the scuttlebutt about the digital and inaccurate reading here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/312474#comment-4777426

The load in the analogue one gives a more accurate indication. No point a digital one saying 1.25 volts if as soon as you put a load on it it drops to 0.6 volts within seconds. Rechargeables are notorious for giving a higher voltage reading under no load.

    • 'No point a digital one saying 1.25 volts if as soon as you put a load on it it drops to 0.6 volts within seconds.'

I have the digital one OP, and what you are describing simply does not happen. Ever. Also, it does in fact apply a load on the battery, while it is testing it. I suspect that perhaps you are simply not using it correctly, i.e.. not holding the battery in it firmly/consistently or something like that. If used correctly, the digital version works perfectly.

      • Err as I have said I have both. And I have HAVE had this happen but mainly with cheap single use batteries. Nicads have a different property and I have not seen that happen. The drop happens when it is in use, not on the meter.

  • No Deal ! this one same model same 99% feedback is $2.29 delivered, sorry http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-Battery-Tester-AA-AAA-C…

    • Good find. I really just posted this as so many people were buying the digital version at more money. Which is crazy.

      • OK, that does it. I'm going to buy an analogue one, even though my digital one has never failed me in 2 years of use, and I am perfectly happy with its performance, and it cost about $1 more than this one. I've got to see what I'm missing.

  • I bought the same item cheaper from here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262823792329?_trksid=p2057872.m27…
Costs only AU $2.47 and as it comes from Malaysia you can get it faster. I received it in just 2 weeks.

    • So you can, buy 3 and an extra 5% off too with that link.

  • Cheaper elsewhere
    $2.23 from Aliexpress
And can get it delivered sooner from bob19's ebay link

    • It was not on sale at that price when I posted, however ali has good prices too (I just looked quickly on ebay). I was just trying to show people there was a cheaper option than the digital version that people were happily buying. I was trying to share a better bargain. You found an even better bargain. That's great make another post!
