These particular models are cheaper because of a couple reasons.

    1. the size. ( 4 way and 3 way sli is no longer supported only 2 way)
    2. is a very old model and is only slightly better than a ribbon cable version.

The new cards in the 10 series and above (soon to be announced) need the HB bridges ( high bandwidth) to properly sli. Using one of these will handicap your second card. I can actually show the difference of the two as i ran the tests a while ago on one of my smaller computers.

    SLI bridge Graphics Score 30698

    HB bridge Graphics Score 37614

Other than the sli bridge being changed the only difference was that on the second run the card boosted higher by 50mhz, not to sure why but i wasnt going for precision just a general jist of if it was just nvidia advertising department bull…. or if the claims were correct.

    • Did you use two (dual) standard bridges in the first test? I was under the impression it worked the same as a HB bridge, and have been using that method to sli my 1080's.

Yes it was a the dual plug version similar to this one but a three slotter from EVGA. As i found out later it makes a difference as the frequencies that your bridges run at are different ( i believe the old version runs at 400 mhz.. where as the HB is 650 mhz.)

Though i believe that in the lower screen resolutions the difference is minimal in the higher 3440 and up it starts to show a larger difference (i use 3840x2160).

    • …nice…

    • I think you just need to connect the cards to the double fingers to get HB sli connection. So the first and 3rs single fingers will be useless. 10 series doesn't support 4way anyway..so yeah.
