Qantas/Emirates Economy Return to Bangkok from SYD (Direct) $599

200

Product:
Qantas A330 (great for pairs) scheduled Sydney outbound departures at 9:50AM arriving at 4:40PM.
Emirates A380 (larger plane, subjectively quieter) scheduled outbound Sydney departures at 6:30PM arriving at 12:55AM the next day.
Both have overnight inbound flights.
In my opinion, best option would be taking the Qantas to Bangkok, then the Emirates on the return.

Pricing:
Likely cheaper if you book from an online travel agent as mentioned https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/313340.
OTA's have a mixed bag of opinions, but I have tried https://www.qantas.com/travel/airlines/price-promise/global/… once and it worked out fine for me.

Low season dates:
1 Aug - 8 Sep 2017

Just priced up from CBR and it's only $664 return as well which is a bargain.

Thanks for including the status credit calculations

  • Emirates 8% off code EKTNZ17, not sure if it can be used.

  • Which one is better A330 or A380?

Seating on the A330 is a 2-4-2 arrangement, so pairs and quad-sized families can have a nicer experience compared to the 3-4-3 seating on an A380.
However, you may be one of the lucky ones who can nab the upper-deck of the A380, which should be quieter and seats are placed in the 2-4-2 arrangement too.
Additionally, the A380 is a Sydney-Bangkok-Dubai flight, not sure why Emirates bothers with this because they and Qantas do direct to Dubai too. It may mean, less people on board, and more chances of getting a whole row to yourself.
I mentioned the times, because the A380 departing Sydney lands in Bangkok at an ungodly hour.
